I have been banded for over a year ago and wouldn't have change being banded for a thing. It is a great asset in my life. Although it isn't easy and at times trying and frustrating, (especially if you want to eat the same as you did before banding) but its worth it.

I understand where your coming from. I don't have as much to lose as others, but I'm struggling bad. I was banded June 25, 2009 and lost ten pounds and gained it all back. I've had two fills and I am currently at 7ccs in a 10cc band. My second fill was on sept 17 and Im going back for another fill this up coming thurs bc I have no restriction. -

Thanks for the response. I know what you mean. I have 5cc's and honestly it has done nothing for me. I mean I can really still eat the same with no complications. I'm going to go back in for another fill if possible.

Hey girlie, I am also a low bmi'er, if thats a word, hahha. Anywho, I just had my first fill 5cc's. I also was banded by Dr. Ortiz and wasn't able to afford to go back to see him. At first I lost 10 pounds after surgery and put it all back on. I found a fill Dr. in my city and he is great. He is really kind and not expensive. I wanted to get a fill before now but I couldn't find anyone affordable until. At first I was nervous that I got 5cc's, but after reading that you got 4 and going back for 1cc I think I will be fine. Let me know how things go and I will do the same.:confused:

It’s official!!! I’ve had my first fill today. Dr. Dewitt is my fill doctor and he is great. I wouldn’t want any other doctor, he’s kind and he understands my goals. I weighed in today at 175. He also put in 5cc’s and informed me that I had some air in my band. The fill was painless and I really couldn’t tell that I was poked with a needle. I’m excited and can’t wait to see the scale move.

I know where your coming from. I was banded in Mexico and just found a fill Dr. here in birmingham, alabama that finally wants to do my fill for less than $300 and don't require me to travel. I was banded June 25, 2009 and haven't had a fill. I've also gained the little weight that I lost in the beinning. My first fill will be next thursday for $175 and $100 there on . Stay encourage, something will work out. :thumbup:Try and see if you can do your fill for a cheaper price in your area.

I was banded with the Realize Band June 25 and as of two days ago I have lost 10 pounds. Im still on liquids and its going okay. Im having to be creative on what liquids to have, but Im not hungry like I use to be before the band. I also haven't had a fill. I'm hoping to not gain the weight back once I start on solids. Overall, it has been worth it and Im excited about my future with the band.

Hey I had my surgery yesterday and everything is going okay. The first day was fine, but today I have a lot of gas in my stomach. Its really sucking right now. The great thing is that I don't have an appetite. Congrads on the 14 pounds lost. How's everything else going with you.

Agnes, I would like to say go for it and dont' listen to the negative people on these forums. I just had surgery yesterday and I am still down in Tj, Mexico enjoying myself. The surgery was a brezze and yes you have a few uncomptable moments but all in all its worth it. Good luck and I can't wait to see the changes take off for you. Im sure you won't regret it.:thumbdown:

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Anyone under 30 gotten the lap band??

Im 23 and will be banded on June 25 Thursday and I can't wait. I have been overweight most of my life. I also did weight watchers, diet pills, working out and lifting weights and I would still only shed about 10 pounds at the most. I am a self pay and as soon as I was able to have the money I set my date. I wasn't nervous because my bff had the procedure about 2 years ago and was pregnant on her second year and she is great. Good luck with your decision. If I were you I would go ahead and get the process started with the docs and the insurance so if you do make up your mind to have it you won't have to wait as long to get banded! -

I’m having my surgery also on June 25 in Tj, Mexico by Dr. Ortiz at the OCC. He was highly recommended for cost, low BMI, and professionalism. Also, it was said in previous post that you don’t have to have a passport if your traveling by land, but that has changed since June 1, 2009, regardless if you have a birth certificate and a state ID. I personally wouldn’t chance going anywhere outside of the U.S. without a passport, its just not worth not coming back in the U.S. -

I would like to second and third what everyone else said. I have less than 60 to lose and I am tired of being overweight also. Im excited about my new tool and new life with my realize band I could just go to the mountains and sing. So go for it, I know I am regardless of what of others may think! -

My bmi is actually 31 and I have only told my Fiance(who doesn't agree), and my best friend, who is supportive but don't think I needed. I am also going to Dr. Ortiz and will be banded June 26. Im excited and hoping that this tool will be a big help in assisting me to become healthier

I am 23 years old and I have been overweight most of my life which is unfortunate. I have always been active. I have always ran and lifted weights but my weight has constantly stayed high for me for the most part. My highest weight I will say was about 185 and lowest around 159. I’m barely 5’ 3” and currently 175. It doesn’t sound like a lot compared to a lot of people on this site but it is for me especially when I like to run, it’s hard on my joints. All in all my procedure is scheduled for June 25 and I can’t wait for this tool to assist me in a healthier life. This site has been real helpful for me to understand the before and after affects of this new life change. Feel free to stop by and chat with me sometimes. Im excited and can't wait!!!

I can't say that I totally understand every aspect of your feelings, but continue to believe in yourself and the life you wan't. If I were you, whatever I felt that would make my life better and more complete I wouldn't stop at it until I get there. I haven't created a tell all about myself, but I guess I will soon. I was really over weight in high school and most of college. I lost some of the weight but not all of it. I also didn't have anyone that was really about me at that time. When I started losing weight and becoming more confident in myself thats when I really started to enjoy life and the options of men more. Neverhtless, I still have a bit to go, that is why I am a self pay now for the lapband. I don't think the process is a fix all but a tool to where I want to be. All Im saying is do whatever you have to do, whether your approved or not. Having a life you want and being happy in it is PRICELESS.
