Oh, I feel so bad for you guys. I guess I was very fortunate with my ex-MIL and FIL. They are the best. Always very supportive. After my DH and I divorced, they stayed very friendly with me.When I had surgery for cervical cancer, they were right there at the hospital with me when my own DM was not. They still come over for dinner and bible study. They love my new DH and our children.I don't really have much to say about my present MIL as she is 80 years old and lives in a foreign country in southeast asia. I've never met her. but, she does call every once in a while for my DH to send her money, as her country is very poor and she doesn't have any to go see the doctor now that her health is failing.

Very cute piercing. I had my eyebrow, labret, and lip pierced. Need to get my tongue and monroe done too.

I felt exactly the same way. I thought they had cut into a nerve or something because I kept having this pulling pain in my chest arm and shoulder. I thought I'd never be pain free.I even asked my mom if she thought I did the right thing. I was depressed and sad and felt like crying all the time. I had to sleep in the living room cuz DH was afraid he'd put his legs on my stomach while he was sleeping and hurt me.Every one around me was eating my favorite foods while I was stuck on protien shakes.Being stuck in the house didn't help either. But, now I feel better, and I can eat some foods, and go out and do things pain free. It does get better. It took me about 2 and a half weeks to feel somewhat normal again. Hang in there, this site helped me tremendously.

Wow, i was wondering what the heck was going on. I never had gas the way I do now after being banded july 17th. I don't really burp all that much, butToot? Let me tell you! It's not that I'm tooting all day long, maybe two or three times a day, but it's with such force. Thank god there is no smell. They're just real loud and long. I run to the bathroom, and when I come out, my kids are laughing cuz they heard it from there.Very embarrassing in front of DH. Oh well, such is life. I'd rather be thin and gassy any day.

My doctor wanted me to stop smoking, but it was just so hard. I smoked right up until the day of my surgery, and I had my first cigarette about 6 days after surgery. I tried quitting, but without having any food, it was way too hard. i'm going to try again, because I don't want to get cancer after I lose weight, and then die. It just doesn't make any sense to have this surgery for my health, but continue to put my health in jeopardy by smoking.

Me and my DH had sex about a week and a half after I was banded. No problems here. Just good times, lol.

OMG you poor thing. What a horrifying experience you had. Oooh it looks so painful. Thank God you are alive, and that you still have your legs. You are 1 lucky gal to be here to share your story. I'm sorry you had to go through that. -
Your most embarrassing fat moment (sad, funny, pathetic, turning points)
cris35 replied to chameleon's topic in The Lounge
All these stories are so sad. It's a shame we had to suffer with the emotional pain being overweight causes. When I was in fifth grade a boy named Kevin sat in front of me who was on the heavy side himself, and a boy named gregory sat to the left of me, and every single day, Kevin would turn around, look at me, and call me fat and ugly repeatedly throughout the day, and gregory would lean near me and call me fat and ugly also. I couldn't escape it. The teacher knew what was going on as did the rest of the class as everyone could hear it. Shame on that teacher for allowing that to happen. It totally stripped me from any self confidence or self worth that I might have had. I would come home from school everyday upset and angry, and say hoe fat I was as I headed to my room. My poor mother, she used to say, you are beautiful and I would tell her that I really wasn't. I never told her what was going on because I was ashamed and embarrassed for her to know. I didn't want to let her know just how wrong she was. My brother, who is six years older than me, used to bring his friends over, and they would make fun of me when my mom wasn't around. but, the worst was about a year ago when we were at my moms for my childrens birthday party, their birthdays are 2 days apart.a year apart, so we celebrate them the same day. So, we were outside at the picnic table eating and my dh was just coming back from walking to the convenience store to buy his lottery numbers and suddenly we all heard this crackling sound like the trees behind us were about to fall, when all of the sudden I went down. The bench at the picnic table gav3e out. It cracked right off. My dh saw this and came running to me and my mom and all my kids and stepdad were in shock. I was so embarrassed that I wouldn't let dh help me up, I brushed myself off and got up and I started to laugh to hide the embarrassment and everyone except dh started laughing, my mom said it was like the mivie shallow hal and my stepdad just happened to be taking my picture when it happened and got it all on film. He actually took them and posted them on the computer. I couldn't believe it. But the last straw was when a friend of mine who is also heavy, and I, went to a restaurant, and while we were sitting here waiting for our food. I glanced over and saw the waitress talking to the cook through the little window that they pass the food through, and she extended her arms way out to her side like a fat person and started laughing. I knew she was talking about us, because there wasn't anyone else in the place. I was so hurt, I didn't even tell my friend cuz I didn't want to hurt her too. -

I just read a news article, and they linked hair loss to an iron deficiencey.

It took me 8 months. I started the pre-op tests in november and was banded july 17th. i had to see a pulmonary doctor, a psychiatrist, a cardiologist. Had to have breathing tests done. Ekg's, echocardiograms(I have a heart condition anyways) sleep apnea test,. 2 nutrition consultations, bloodwork, and then wait for my insurance approval. I was approved at the end of june, but my surgeons soonest date for me was july17th. The appointments are what took so long because some of them couldn't get me in until a month or so,but it was worth waiting for, and it did go by pretty fast for me.

Anyone wish they would have had gastric bypass?
cris35 replied to Monica S's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, gastric bypass was never an option for me. I'm way to much of a hypochondriac for that type of surgery. I'd probrably end up in the hospital for not eating or drinking from fear of leakage. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be an option, I'm just saying it wasn't an option for me. I was in the waiting room in the dr.s office the other day and I was talking to a woman who had the bypass and she was saying how thankful she was, because it gave her a new life, and she don't know if she would have lived for 5 more years without it. she chose the bypass over the band, and thats what she felt comfortable with. She made the right decision in her journey on her weight loss, and I feel comfortable in knowing that I made the right decision in whats right for me in my journey through weight loss.We can't let someone elses fears, or lack of fears play a role in what we choose to do for ourselves. That said, I hope everyone, whether they've had any type of wls or not, have a success in their journey down the road to weight loss, and I wish everyone the best of luck. -

Does anyone want to make a pact with me?

I'm with vinesqueen. -
I could never cheat on my DH.I love him too much. My ex husband cheated on me and the pain caused me to cheat on him several times. Our relationship suffered because I was never happy and had the continuous feeling of wanting to cheat on him for revenge. Not to mention the loss of trust we had for eachother. It was a mess. I love my bunny and I'm not even attracted to any one else. As for the ex husband, he's remarried and happy. As far as I know he hasn't cheated on his new wife. I think he learned his lesson the first time around. He saw how evil we women can get when we're scorned.lol.

Iso pure drinks during clear liquid phase
cris35 replied to avamapp's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I was instructed to drink protien drinks and get 50-60 grams of protien a day for 2 weeks right after surgery. Isopure is the one I chose. I liked the 40 grams of protien powder shakes opposed to the 40 grams of protien ready to drink juice ones -
Hi, I didn't have any apple juice b/c it is high in sugar.I had my protien shakes, chicken and beef broth, crystal light, decaf tea with splenda, watered down campbells tomatoe soup, watered down campbells split pea soup, and sugar free jello. Not much of a selection, but it sure beats only apple juice and water. I hope this helps.

Congratulations! Soon you'll be joining us on the losing side.

Well. i'm half french and half greek. All european, and I must say that I do shave my armpits, as does every other woman in my family. My mother is full blooded french and she finds it disgusting to not shave under the arms and my father was born in greece, and my grandmother and aunts all shaved, so I think it is untrue that all europeans do not shave their armpits.

Hi, I was just banded 7-17-06 and I started my period 2 days later. I was a week and a half early. When I was in the hospital, a woman in my room had the by-pass and she started her period too. she said she wasn't due for another 2 weeks. The doc said that this can sometimes start a womans period early. go figure.
