    Tricare Prime North Region

I think Tri-Care is the same everywhere. I didn't have to do a supervised diet. The process all went pretty quick.
  3. You'll be fine! In a few weeks it will all be a distant memory.

    Regrets

I think freaking out a bit before surgery is a normal part of the process. So you are right on track! I'm only 2 months out, but I don't regret it.

What do I tell my kids....

My kids are 5, 8, and 10. I told them exactly what was happening.
  9. I think it depends on the kid. All 3 of my kids love a lot of fruits and veggies. If you ask my 5 year old daughter what her favorite foods are, she will name several fruits and veggies. 2 of my 3 kids will try something if I tell them they have to, and 90% of the time they end up liking it. My 10 year old is not your average kid. He has ADD, and I suspect SID. He eats a very limited diet and making him try new foods is not a battle I choose to have. I always put a little on his plate but I don't MAKE him try it. He does like some fruits and veggies, so I'm fine with it. We have always kept healthy food in our house, and very little sugar, so it's not foreign to them at all. So my final answer is- "Normal" kids, yes, I make them try it. And if you don't have junk in the house, then not eating healthy really isn't an option.

    Numbing medication with fills

I wonder if the size of the needle has to do with which band you have, I have an 11 cc Realize band, and had a tiny fill needle.

    Numbing medication with fills

Had my first fill today. He didn't use any numbing medication. The needle was so tiny I barely felt it.
  12. Had my first fill today, and my next appt is in 9 weeks.

    Pain in my sides

I think it's gas. I was having pain so bad I went to the ER. They didn't know what it was, just said 'ask your surgeon.' hmmm thanks! Anyway I finally figured out when I read that someones doctor put them on prilosec for bad gas pains. I had quit taking my priolosec a few weeks prior because I really didn't need it for heartburn anymore. I had suspected it was gas, but none of the gas meds I tried did any good. ANYWAY, the awful pain lasted for 4 weeks before I figured this out. It was mostly on my lower sides and pelvic area. A heating pad seems to help.
  15. and clear liquids for 2 weeks!!!??? I would die! lol I have a strict doctor, and I was on FULL liquids for the first 2 weeks.
  16. Not enough calories. I think it is rare for someone to thrive on less than 1000 calories a day. Everyone is different, but I shoot for 1200-1400 a day.

    I maintained........

    That's awesome!!!
  18. You guys are chugging right along! I had my first gain this week +1.4. All my fault too. I have not been making good choices, and I HATE that. So I have lost 14 since surgery, 11 on pre-op diet. 25 total. The only time I notice any restriction is certain times when I eat too fast, for a few seconds I feel like it's going to come back up. I go for my first fill on Monday!
  19. Could there be a correlation? I have been having VERY bad pain for the last 2 and half weeks. The pain moves around, and I am now convinced it is some kind of stone that is too big to pass. I went to my regular doctor and they said call my lap-band surgeon. Nice huh? I left a message but haven't heard back yet. I am going to go to the ER this weekend and insist they check for kidney stones. I have never had them before, but the pain is as bad as labor pains. Anyone have any experience with kidney stones?

    Kidney stones and lap-band?

I'm going to call tomorrow. Could gas pains hurt this bad and last this long?

    Kidney stones and lap-band?

They said that since there was no blood in my urine, that it isn't a kidney stone. They didn't do any other tests at all. So on to week 3 of unexplained excruciating pain.
  22. Sounds like you are doing fine. I was banded 1/26. I lost 11 lbs on the pre op diet and 16 pounds since surgery.

    Kidney stones and lap-band?

I've been reading up on it and I am 99.9% sure that is what is going on. I am going to go to the ER this afternoon when my husband gets home (from his fishing trip! *%$@!) I took some leftover pain meds from surgery and the pain was GONE for a few hours. But it made me feel nauseous, and fuzzy. Not looking forward to whatever they are going to do to me at the hospital.

    Kidney stones and lap-band?

Yes, I'd say that I have. I just don't know what else it could be.
