Anyone banded on 7/16...
komika replied to Teacher2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm nervous about the holidays, but I think that overall I am doing very well. 51 lbs down, still 16 lbs to go to be under 300. I have family coming for Christmas and I would love to say "I've lost 70 lbs since July!"...but it might only be 60. Ive had numerous fills and am up to 7.7 cc's in a 10cc band. I won't get another fill until after the first of the year though. Congrats to all!!! -
What did/ do you tell people about your weight loss
komika replied to Charmed4Sure's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It absolutely works - I even created a virtual model with my head on it and put it on my vision board...along with my dream house. I tell myself every day that I am happy and grateful to be at my perfect weight...and the weight is coming off.....:w00t: -
What did/ do you tell people about your weight loss
komika replied to Charmed4Sure's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very open and hones with everyone from the beginning. Even before I had all of the money that I needed for the surgery, I would tell people that I was getting it. For me, it was kind of like "The Secret". I had to put it out to the universe or it wasn't going to happen. Even now, everyone in my office and my family knows as well. I hate that they call all the time asking for weight updates, but am glad that everyone is supportive. -
Anyone banded on 7/16...
komika replied to Teacher2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 7/16 and have lost a total of 41 lbs including the pre-op diet. I have had 3 fills for a total of 7 cc's and I still do not feel that i have hit my sweet spot. I can still consume about 2 cups of food during meals and even thought that is a lot less than what i used to eat; I was really looking forward to losing weight a little more rapidly. My surgeon thinks that I am progressing well...I suppose that I have set a different standard for myself. Going for another fill in a few weeks. Hopefully a .5 cc will make a big difference. I do find that I don't tolerate a lot of starchy foods well without getting stuck. I try to stick to Protein as much as possible with carbs under 60 grams per day. I love hearing about all of the successes out there. Let's keep moving...!!! -
I know I am only a month out but need help!

I was banded in July as well. Lost 20 lbs in 8 days and then nothing for almost 5 weeks (I even gained 5 lbs back). Its difficult to not get discouraged. But, I just put the scale away for a while and kept following my dr's orders. I eat around 1200 cals a day and work out about 4 times per week for 20-30 minutes. I finally got on the scale this morning and am happy to report that I broke through the plateau, lost the five pounds that I had put on plus another pound. Sometimes it just takes patience. If you know that you are doing everything right, the weight will come off.... Hang in there.... -
fill number 2(stuck food)
komika replied to nomebug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 7/16 and had my first official fill yesterday. I received 2.2 cc's during surgery and another 2.2 cc's in my band yesterday. A total of 4.4 cc's in a 10cc band and I finally feel a difference. My weight has been stagnant for about 4 weeks now, so I really look forward to seeing the change. I have to do liquids for 48 hours and then mushies for 24 hours before progressing back to solid foods. I have never had a 'stuck' or 'sliming' incident, so I think that I am chewing things well. I'm terrified of getting anything stuck. -
I was looking for a post like this. My period is a week late as well. I know that weight-loss can effect your cycle and while I know I am not pregnant...I was starting to get concerned. Look forward to hearing the experience of others....

I was told to only do moderate walking until day 21 post-op. I haven't done any real exercise to date and have still lost 21 lbs since my surgery. I think that I am going to start some very low impact aerobics for some cardio though (no ab work) this weekend. -

I was banded on 7?16 as well and so far I am doing GREAT!. I struggled a lot with gas and the swelling causing me to not really consume many liquids. I'm now on full liquids for the next ten days before going on to mushies. I lost 11 lbs on the pre-op diet and then another almost 20 lbs in the first few days after surgery. I didn't notice any loss over the weekend, but am happy that I can finally get my 64 oz in. Nice meeting you... Komika -
Newly Banded in Arizona
komika replied to Kimberley12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today is the first day that I have felt actual hunger. Until now, its been hard to even get water down, but it looks like the swelling is finally starting to go down...which makes me very happy. I'm still on liquids and my surgeon gave me 2.2 cc's during surgery. I am hoping that lasts me for quite some time.... -

19.8 lbs in 10 days...Is this normal?
komika posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 7/14 and weighed 355. This morning my weight was 336.2. My dr filled my 4.00 cc band with 2.2 cc's during the surgery and I am very full off very little. On a good day, i consume 360 calories, but am still having difficulty getting all the Water in. Most days I am around 200 calories. I'm full for hours and even sipping water between Protein shakes is very difficult. Most days are about 200 - 300 calories. I'm still on liquids but I need to know if I need an 'unfill'. I'm starting to feel like I am seriously under-nurished and am concerned. Thoughts? -

Yeah...I'm not in a race or anything. Slow and steady works for me as long as it stays off. -

komika replied to komika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys. I did speak to my surgeon and he still believes that this is completely normal. However, if after 2 more weeks I am still really restricted, then he will do an adjustment for me. I'm so glad that I have this forum to turn to.... -
?? for those who had fill during surgery
komika replied to katwmn63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just found out today that my surgeon put 2.2 cc's in my band with a Max fill of 4 cc's. Im only a week out but feel A LOT restriction. I don't think that I will need a fill for quite some time. I finally had a yogurt for the first time tonight, and after 4 oz I was very full. -
Newly Banded in Arizona
komika replied to Kimberley12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on July 16th, and am still in the clear liquid phase. I'm completely full of gas and gurgles, so I am having difficulty discerning if its hunger or what. I also live here in Arizona. -
I am trying to get banded before the end of the summer and am searching for a Dr. in Mexico. I was leaning towards Ortiz, but have a friend of a friend who is the niece (yes...I know how this sounds) of a surgeon in Cd. Juarez that performs Lap Bands, but I cannot find anything on him. Does anyone know about Dr. Jose Castaneda? I've been through the border in Juarez before and would probably be more comfortable there than in TJ...but am trying to conduct as much research as possible. Any information...good or bad would be great.
