:think Hello I just had surgery on June 7th and boy I'm hungry anyone out there know the reason why? I'm going to get a fill on June 26th but for now it's just like being on a diet!!!!!! I have to watch of course everything I put in my mouth which is mostly through a straw consistency. Like cream of chicken without the chicken.
-
Yes I will do that, as far as doctors but if you ever start trying to get one to see you after you have already had the surgery good luck. And I really refuse to travel 40 miles to start my search. The only doctor that does it here won't help me at all. I know of him and his reputation so I would feel good going to see him, but now can do. He says he is not taking any new patients but has a advertisement on television for lap band surgery. :lie:

I have been contacted to reply on this forum and here goes.... This band is not working for me and I can't see how it does work. I was under the impression that is works as far as restricting you hunger, well that is true but I am finding I'm hungry an hour later. So basically it is like going on a diet only u have the band and that is suppose to help you curve hunger and eat healty and make the right choices, which is what I was trying to do before the band. I am now writing down food intake and counting calories, AGAIN. :faint:

I must admit I don't drink enough water, my doctor told me gatorade rain was the way to go. Well I have drank so much of that and now like people get on Pepsi I have cravings for gatorade rain. Trying to get of that because I was drinking way to much. Not to mention the calorie intake! Think I'll try other things like flavored water, I HATE water so this should be interesting.
-
What I mean is the things like holding your breath so you won't throw up when you eat to fast, or trying to eat 10 meals a day (like people have nothing else to do) or drinking a certain amount of Water, or trying to figure out what you can or cannot eat. Keeping track of your calorie intake, just things like that and other stuff I can't come up with right now. You know things you were trying to do before you got the band, except for the purging of course. Since I had this band there are endless suggessions on how to make it finally work. You know like trying to get just the right fill. Go figure. When I write my food down I try to stay within the 1200 calorie range, which worked before the band and also works now. If I had the wrong idea about this band it is because I was definately given the wrong info by my doctor and others. It was like get the band and just wait for the pounds to come off. I have talked to others that summed it up as a tool to make dieting easier and that pretty much hit the mark of how it will work for people like me. I guess I should say I am 55 and have a thyroid issue, and also think I have done alot of damage to my body with dieting in stupid ways, like the diet pills and not eating the correct things, and starving in the earlier days. The list goes on.

No not 5 patients not my band doctor he has done I'm sure close to 300 at the time I was banded by him. That was my family doctor I was talking about that said she had 5 patients that had been banded and 2 were doing great!!!! I had these fills to 6.5 about every month or so until it got to tight at 6.5 that was when I could not sit to eat and was pbing all the time. Then the doctor took out 1cc and now I can sit and eat and also not throw up hardly at all anymore which is wonderful. But I am still restricted on alot of things. One being most meats. Yes somebody said eating bits of chicken or any meat fills you up quickly and that is so true. But I do not stay full but for very long about an hour. Then I usually just get hungry for other things other than meat. I know with all the success everyone else is having I must be doing something wrong, BUT WHAT? Also after a year and 1/2 of this #%$$^ I'm pretting sick of it all. But at least not throwing up sick.
-
That's wonderful for you. So far I have went back to doing 20 minutes of excercise and writing down my intake of calories and food. I'm still eating slow so as not to throw up though and still have to go without meat and a few other no no's like pasta, rice, most fruit, the list goes on.... Whatever it takes huh?
-
Oh yes I have thought of another Doctor but good luck getting one to see you after you have already had the surgery. Another fill is definately not the answer since I already went though so many months of being totally miserable from being way to tight! The band is not for everybody and I went through so much hoping it would work, that includes all the gimmicks people try to make it work. I had no idea there were so many things and tricks to proform to get something to work. So far just going back to what I was doing before the band is working okay, just a hugh disappointment.:tired

I know you guys are trying to help but I have had restriction so tight that for 8 months or so I could not sit down to eat so I got 1.5cc taken out. It certainly help where I could finally sit and eat but I still had no luck as far as what this band was suppose to be doing. I am just glad I can actually sit and eat like a almost normal person. I had all kinds of thyroid test run and yes I do have a problem as far as my thyroid but I have been taking medicine for it for years. I am still restricted to the point that I don't dare eat meat or some other things, as you all know this is very much of a guessing game as to how it is going to act. My doctor said she has 5 patience that have had the band and 2 of them are very successful one of them not being me.:guess

I eat soup, fruits, cream of wheat, ice cream (not a lot),cereal, the coffee in the mornings I know is bad because their cuppacinos probably spelled wrong. I know there are things I eat that are wrong but if I did not eat the wrong things I would of never had this lap band. I just get sick of the dieting thing and not really have the wonderful effect that some people have with this surgery. Sweet Spot right, never got there but certainly have plenty of restriction going on. I' ve had to eat standing up for literally MONTHS.
-
Confused is not the word for me, it I believe totally baffled and not getting much clearer for me yet and I was operated on June 7th, 2006. I have felt restriction but no weight coming off for literally months! And I know I'm not eating no where what I used too. Or eating the things I used too as well. So go figure. Sometimes I just get sick of it all. I know there are issues to consider like age, health, excercising, things like that but good grief it gets so old after a while, kinda like dieting did. Of course I'm still doing the watching what you eat diet. I'm just hopeful that something will give soon.....

I do have a pretty expensive coffee machine and I also have a Vita Mix, the Vita Mix makes the best coffees and I have to be very carefull how I prepare them. Fat content can be horrific. The coffee machine makes wonderful lattes, etc... I love them both... Also by Dyson, it comes in very handy with 4 dogs...:faint:

I know everytime I would get back to the treadclimber I would either over do or hurt myself....Dah! It seems like something would come up where I just could not fit it in the day then as you all know it is very hard to get back on the program once you stopped. I am going to start again and feel their are people who excercise and do mostly all the things your suppose to and still no luck. I am certainly no one to give advice in how to make this work because I think it definately depends on you and your body, life issues, health problems, age, etc.......

I have a huge problem with meat unless it is in soup or something like that. In fact I can not eat unless I stand up, that is such a uncomfortable way to eat and not to mention the fact resturants are definately not on the menu. I juice my veggies and do alot of soy and yogart in my Vita mix. That always helps with the fruits and I can actually sit down and drink them!!!!! Yeah for that.... I too make wrong choices but I refuse to get an unfill because I still get all the protein and vitamins I need. All I really need to do is make my mind up that the lapband is just a very small tool and I have to do the rest. I went into this thinking the lapband would solve all my eating problems...NOT
-
I know not excercising is a bad choice and definately know I should. I will get back on the program soon I know because I'm certainly sick of this way of life and also thinking of doing weight watchers or something similar. I just really need to change my thoughts on thinking since I got the band it should of solved all the weight issues. HA I was under the impression that since I can't eat alot of stuff it would take care of the weight loss automaticly. Not true sorry to say :cry

I am definately a slow loser and completely sick of it all. I have only lost 32 pounds since June 7th, 2006 and still don't eat normally. I have to stand up to eat so it won't get stuck and there are very few things I can eat, so guess what? I eat things I shouldn't. In other words things that go down easy, things that I can actually sit down to eat. I feel like if I get an unfill what is that going to do other than maybe worse thing of all GAIN weight!!! NOOOOOOO

Anybody else have this problem? I would love to hear what the solution is. I am also pretty active, not saying I work out but I so stay active, not a couch potatoe. Also I have thyroid problems but am on meds for that. (think I spelled that wrong)

Drinking while eating poll
carol134 replied to K@t's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Drinking with meals, that is one of the worse things I can possible do! After getting the band and with the problems I have with pbing, drinking while eating is DEADLY for me, I have actually made a mistake before and drank while eating, OMGosh never again! I now keep all liquids away from me while eating so that don't happen again. -
Barbara465: this is interesting to me, I thought you were having trouble in am eating as well? I'm not sure but thought that was what I read. I am also hungry almost all the time, but that is mostly because I can't eat hardly anything for the pbing part. It just don't go down right till much later in afternoon. Anyway this will be interesting to follow with the thicker saline, that of which I never have heard of. Good luck, and if it works I will definately ask my doc about this produre. I feel I need all the help I can get at this point.

Thank god for Papaya enzyme and aloe vera...and thanks Kathy, too!!

I do have thyroid medication. I am so tired of this nonsense just to of lost 30 pounds. I want this to work so badly. Yes I do the treadclimber and since eating at night is my only time I do believe that can be an issue in remaining the same weight for 2 months. I know at night is the absolute worse time to eat. -
Good to hear most of you had a great Thanksgiving. My DH and I just stayed at home and he ate his steak, which that is what he wanted. I was going to cook a turkey but he said it would be a waste. Oh well. I don't know about alot of you guys, seems all of you for the most part are doing quite well. I can say for the first time it has been crossing my mind to give this up. I'm not losing that much weight for what I'm going through. I can not eat until about 3pm or 4pm and that really sucks. Not to mention the part where you can't go out to eat because of your eating issues, and seems like for us everything revolved around the food thing. Not much going on in this town and eating out was the thing we did the most with our friends. We ventured out the other day and we were with some friends, well we went to a restaurant and I got soup and could not even finish that! All I heard from the people we were with was how they felt bad for me. It has really been hard with this band and it seems to be wearing on my DH as well. I made the mistake in eating a hard boiled egg yesterday AM and I spent 2 hours pbing and finally just made myself throw it up. Well enough venting, glad to hear so many of you are doing so well.

Thanks, I am having so much trouble lately I really have given it some serious thought to have it removed. I am really not losing any weight, not enough to go through this #$^%# anyway and not being able to eat much of anything is driving me crazy. I will sip on the juice and see what comes of it. Thanks again -

okay I went and got some of that aloe vera juice, now please someone tell me how to take it and what is it all about? I had the pb's this morning and boy almost died, (not really) but feel really bad from that boiled egg getting stuck, it lasted about 2 hours and finally I made myself throw it up. -
Frankly I've never had floro yet, but am looking forward to seeing how things are in there when I do.

I can feel for you!!!! I can not believe how open I am at night...THE WORSE TIME OF ALL. I often blame this on my slow weight loss. I go to bed early and not eating when you are not able to eat in the day much is a curse.
