I have had the band now for 5 months and only have lost about 30 pounds, it could be more though if it would work the way is has after the last 2 fills. Let me explain, and give me your thoughts or knowledge. I go have the fill, everything is very tight and eating the last time was to say the least a real challenge! But this last 2 times I've had a fill there is a period of time there that it seems to be perfect as far as restriction and feeling very full, not caring at all if I eat or not. Only problem is it does not stay that way but only for about a week or so. Now is this the way it works before the fill finally sticks? Or is it just that 1 week or so that you are really elated to have this band? In other words does anyone else have this experience?

Thank you so much! I had no idea what the #$#%% is going on, I am restricted now, but then again there are days that I don't feel very restricted. All I have really been able to definately decide on this band is that there is a period there that I wish I could feel like that forever, not hungry, not even thinking of food! I LOVE it. But it does not last very long, like I said just a week or so. Also the last 2 fills, I'm very afraid because I don't want to be too restricted, if you know what I mean! Again thanks for your help........

So does anyone really have any ideas of whether the band will stay in that perfect position of not being hungry for a long period of time?

What would you change in your banding journey?

Threebeauties and Pinkylee: Thanks, I agree with you Threebeauties the void will never be filled, ever. On a better note I would never of told anyone of my surgery if I knew what I knew now. -
You can get that juice at any vitiamin store or even grocery store. It is pretty easy to find. Hope things get better for you.:peep:

What's the best way to take meds!

Applesauce is the absolute best way I have found, but since I don't take blood pressure anymore I really don't worry to much, I also get liquid or chewable vitamins. -
Considering Lap Band surgery

This is the place to get lots of information. Also if you get on some of these discussion threads it really improves your typing skills. (what a bonus) -
We had our turn yesterday in Colorado, what a depressing day that turned out to be. I HATE wind. I am not saying anything about my hair not falling out, I know as soon as I do it will come out in hands full. Hope things get better for ya on that situation. Believe me I know what that is like, I went through that a few years back only it was from another situation.

How many fills to feel restriction?

What would you change in your banding journey?
carol134 replied to Fauxnaif's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I would of changed the time of the surgery. My mom died 2 days before the surgery date and I went through with it anyway, only because I thought I could not do that starving thing that you go through before the surgery, I did 2 weeks and thought I would die. Well when the funeral was over and my mind set on the fact I would never see her again, the stress of that and other things came up that would of made an anorectic person start eating! -
does anyone else spit in a cup?????????
carol134 replied to lorihou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I have been reading this forum for 5 months now and would feel like something was wrong if I didn't spit, considering all the people I have read about who DO. I kinda think it is nice to know the pros and cons of things. Oh yes I forgot to mention, I don't spit in a cup I stand at the sink, sometimes if it lasts to long I get the cup, but that has been rare for me. And I know nobody knows that I do this except my DH.:peep: -
Well yesterday I ate everything in sight! I was truly hoping this fill was the magic one that would of continued to work. Wrong! So guess I'll see what happens today, but I know the produre by now since this next fill will be my 5th. I can't understand this band and whenever I seem to start needing a fill it seems like that is when the weight starts back. I would love to have some rhyme or reason to this band. Just when you think you know what's going on, poof it will trick you again.:faint:

How many fills to feel restriction?
carol134 replied to hula girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I truly had my doubts as well as to whether the band was ever going to work. I have an 11cc band and it seems like now whenever I have had my last 2 fills each time it stayed a little longer than the last. I am hoping for the day that it will stay the way it does when I'm not hungry, and just losing the weight like I'm suppose too. I feel like right before the next fill I start getting very hungry and start to gain weight yet again! -
WELL I DEFINATELY NEED TO GET MYSELF IN CONTROL HERE. Good Job Cathy

I personally cannot even think of eating apple peels. I usually just peel them first. If you are already eating the peels I can't see why you should stop. Or maybe there is something I don't know.

Cathy you have lost 52 pds.? That is incredable what is your secret? I was banded on 6/7/06 and have barely lost 30....I'm very impressed. I need to get a grip.

does anyone else spit in a cup?????????
carol134 replied to lorihou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just remember it is a learning process for everyone, and unless you are from the few that never have spit in a cup or napkin or whatever, it is going to happen. There are alot of issues that will come up after you have your surgery, and no matter what they are if you are committed to having this surgery it all seems like a small price to pay, again considering the alternative. -

Trust me it is not as bad as the other alternative -
To fill or not to fill....
carol134 replied to sunsreturn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I could of lost weight without having any fills I would of never got the band. I was sick of losing weight only to have it come back and found the more I would diet the worse it got. I thought the band was made to help you in your efforts to loose weight successfully. 115 pounds that's fantastic! But why did you get the band? Just a question. Congratuations -
Boy reading this makes me realize I only thought I was tight on my last fill!!!! I am so sorry you went through this, I have read where people actually wake up choking and can't imagine this happening, and I hope it NEVER does happen to me. My last fill was very tight but I did wait it out and glad I did because it did loosen up, as it always had in the past. But never would I except the choking in my sleep. Hope your doing better by now.

Barbara465: Sorry to hear things are not going so well, I know this is very irratating sometimes when your doing all the right things and not much is happening. Coke is not anything I drink anymore because it takes away from the real liquids that I have a problem getting down already without adding extra things like pop. Drinking and eating is DEADLY for me, so don't do it. I really am at a stand still with my weight, in fact I've gained the other day 3 pds! It is gone now but what a discussing thing when I really should be losing considering the restriction I am going through, not able to eat much. Which is okay by me. Hope things go better for you this week.....

Thanks, I certainly hope so. Oh yes I would do anything to be weighing in @ 211, I can only dream of the day.... GOOD JOB

Sam just do what your doctor tells you until you can think for yourself, at this point of your surgery you have no idea why or what is going on, I know I didn't, and in some cases still don't.:guess You for sure need to do exactly what you doc says until you can make some sense of this whole procedure. Then you can venture out and try different things when it seems to click in more.
