For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
carol134 replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hope you will be alright and thanks for the reply. Do you know of anyone else who takes flintstones your my first. Also do you know anyone who has our kind of band and how are they doing. What do you think of your band? Seems to working for you considering the weight I see you have lost. I have only lost about 26 pounds since surgery and that was on June 7th.:nervous -
Thanks for being so kind, I just hope that golfball thing is not doing any damage to my poor 11cc VG band.
-
I am always doing this when I eat and it is such a bad feeling! I cannot seem to get the idea to eat slowwwww what in the world is wrong with me? I was banded on June 7th and still haven't got the idea. I almost have that golfball thing everytime I eat. I am going out today to buy the baby spoon. I really have a hard time with eating to fast when I'm really hungry and it's really something I like.

Very true but if you would of read the way some of these people talked to her you would probably leave too. Sometimes you say things like I'm leaving to see if anyone really cares.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
carol134 replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have the exact same band and my doctor gives fills every month. I have now been restricted to 4.75 and am certain I have restriction, but I do think I need another fill. I had surgery on June 7th and have had 3 fills for far? He also instructed to take tums for calium and flintstones for Vitamins. May I ask what your doc told you to do? -
Maybe she was just looking for someone to give a dam.

I do have V.G. 10cc band and they say that needs more fills than others, I will be overjoyed when I start losing a pound a week!!! Glory day Hee Haaaaa

Does anyone know if fills are dangerous to any part of your body? I get them every month for the last 3 months and need another one I have restriction but need to start losing weight and I have not done that for the last 2 1/2 weeks. I know the danger of being over filled it must be awful, but what other choice do I have? I refuse to go on anymore of a diet than I am already on. I paid thousands of dollars to go on weight watchers!!! Besides I've been on weight watchers at least 3 times and lots of other diets as well, thats why I spent 18 thousand dollars for this.:rolleyes
-
I think maybe your right about the set points, but since I haven't weight this number in about 5 years I can't remember. Yes I am not the most patient person on earth which is why all the diets I've been on in my life have failed, not quick enough results. I guess I'll start doing something different and see what that does for me. Although for the last 2 days I've been eating much more and it's actually is going down. I probably need a fill. I am hoping this one will stick for a much longer period of time. Who knows it is a guessing game this band. I love it but I hate it as well.

Very Well Put.

Thanks so much for the advice and I do use a Protein Drink daily as far as the food I have to take a bit and go do something around the house like put up a few dishes or something like that, needless to say eating is a drag! I do need to get rid of the popsicles though and I will. I will also do that flushing at night with the water and try to restrict myself from eating so much at night just because I can. Your an

Be sure you are very well hydrated when you come in for your fill appointment. That means at least 8-10 full glasses of liquid every day for at least several days before the fill. (You really need this amount at all times anyway). Drink especially well the morning of the fill. If you're flying in, it can be much harder to stay hydrated, so take a drink bottle and drink very often! Those little "to-go" packs of Crystal Lite are ideal - ask the flight attendants for a refill of your Water bottle, pop one in, and then you will have plenty to drink. Those little 4-oz cups of liquid they give you during flight are useless. (Hint - While you're on the plane, also take a couple of those white barf bags – good to keep one in your purse or car, both now and later for emergencies.) 2. Be sure not to have any solid foods for at least 6 hours before the fill. Don't eat a huge or late dinner the night before. If you're having any trouble (reflux, possible slip, etc) please have nothing but fluids after dinner the night before. In some cases, food can still be in the pouch for 12 or more hours. 3. Don't drink COLD fluids for an hour before the fill. That will shrink your stoma and give a false fluoro reading. Room temp fluids are fine. Let the ice in your drink bottle melt, and then you'll have room-temp fluids to drink right up to the fill time. 4. Avoid getting a fill during a menstrual period or a few days before an expected one. During this time, we are usually retaining water, and the fluoro will not be as accurate. 5. If at all possible, hang around for at least a few hours after a fill. Don't run right back to the plane. It takes the normal swelling after a fill 1-2 hours to develop, and by that time you might be too tight. 6. If at all possible, stay overnight and catch a plane out the following late afternoon or evening. If you are too tight, this will allow time to get a small unfill before you leave. This is not very convenient, but sure beats having to possibly return to TJ in a few days, on short notice, in pain, and at high last-minute plane fares! This is "prevention!" Overfills are not common, but they DO happen, even under the best of conditions. Be prepared, and think about this overnight stay. 7. After a fill, please have liquids only for at least 24 hrs. This allows the stoma to rest and heal. Then, a day of soft foods, then back to regular foods. 8. Review the eating and food guidelines again before every fill. You’ll need to refine your eating more and more with higher fill levels, and there will be less and less room for goofs. 9. Please don't get a fill if you are having ANY trouble with the current level of fill. This means ANY regular pain, PB or barfing more than maybe once a week at the most, not able to get enough calories in, not able to drink enough, able to eat only soft foods or fluids. More fill will NOT help, and will make things worse. 10. First fills are not routinely given at 6-8 weeks - but only as you need them. Many people do, some do not. We'll help you decide if you need a fill - just ask. There is no rush for fills. Too much can get you in trouble, and you end up further "behind" than if you had gone slower with fills. Please remember that good fills are very elusive, even with highly- experienced people like The Kuri Team. There are just too many individual factors involved that the docs cannot control. Even the fluoro is only a clue, and not entirely accurate - for some of the reasons above. It usually takes 3- 5 fills to slowly and safely creep up on a good level, and they can be safely given a month apart. Trying to go faster with a bigger fill is not the solution, and the stomach rebels at big sudden fills. SLOW and GRADUAL is the key! This can be frustrating, but is well worth the wait to avoid problems. Here is the answer to all your questions.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

I have a VG 11cc band and I can tell you I was filled @4.75 last visit to doc and definately had restriction! But I am not really eating what I should because of food getting stuck. I really ate good this A.M. though hamburger and cheese on top green beans yogart strawberries. Never have I ate that much since my fill 2 weeks ago. I go for a fill every month and this is my 3rd fill. I was told this band is huge and not alot of people can tolarate it. I wonder if it is true. I have plans to go get another fill soon just because I am not losing any weight in the last 2 or 3 weeks. I can believe I am not losing weight for the very reason I haven't been able to eat much for the fact of either getting stuck or just plan feeling full. -
I am needing some advice on my band, I have not lost any weight in about 2 weeks but yet I'm afraid to go for another fill. In the A.M. things always are tight and eating is more miserable than anything, usually things get stuck to the point of after it goes though I fell I'll never eat again. P.M. is wide open usually and that's when I really need to not eat!!!! So as a result I just eat popsicles mostly and cream of wheat in morning. Now wouldn't you think I'd be losing weight? What's up with this? Anyone have any ideas?
-
I am very discouraged with the weight I have not lost. I was banded on June 7th and have only lost about 22 pounds total. This is really bad when I think of how much less I eat compared to before the surgery. I have restriction now on the 3rd fill but it is weird. Sometimes I can eat everything and other times nothing! I don't mind the times I can eat nothing but you never know what to expect. This band I know will be a blessing after they work the kinks out. I know there are some days that I wonder if it will ever happen though. This surgery cost alot of money and can't imagine it to be for nothing.:cry
-
I too have a 10cc band and have had 3 fills as well. I feel restriction on some things and only wish it was like when I first got the fill 2 weeks ago. I do know it works and looking forward to having the fill that finally sticks!

Unless your hair has ever been beautiful and long you can't usually understand, I too used to have very LONG and beautiful hair and certainly did not want it to start falling out......:think
