  1. After many years of thinking about it, I finally had it done on 17 April. I've since had two fills, up to 2mms, and apart from a couple of hiccups, am doing really well. Must remember to chew, chew, chew!

    Australian Bandsters Chat Thread

Hi Everyone, I'm new here too and will be banded on 17 April 09. I'm very nervous about it all. I actually considered the gastric sleeve first because the doctor was really keen on it however I got frightened. Was anyone else considering that route? I love to read your comments and can't believe how ignorant I was before I found your site. Thank you so much for your info. SusieP

    Greetings from WA :-)

Hi Lou I'm also a WA country girl to be banded on 17 April by Dr Cohen at Mercy Bariatrics. I don't see his name on this site. Any reason why? I'm doing two weeks Optifast pre-op so running out of days right now. Pretty nervous though but I've learnt so much since discovering this site. I agree its great to see the way everyone is so supportive. Well done! SusieP

    Had a bad day

I'm getting banded on 17 April and am getting very nervous about it all. Nobody has told me to go on a pre-op diet but I think I'll try Optifast for the next couple of weeks twice a day. I'm very concerned about the food choices post-op because I have a lot of work on and haven't told anyone that I'm having the band so will find it hard to disguise any problems I may have.

    New to lap band

Hi, I've been considering obesity surgery for some years and finally got the courage to take that first step. Originally, I intended to have the tube gastrectomy bypassing the lap band altogether but have since changed my mind. My surgery date is 17th April and I am getting a little apprehensive about it now. My problem is that I live in the country 3 hours from Perth and haven't had the chance to talk to someone face to face who has already been through the surgery. Originally, my doctor said that the lap band may not suit me because I live in a remote area to Perth. Although I'm a regular visitor to Perth (daughter in boarding school) he was more concerned about problems with the lap band I think. This is my very first contribution to any internet discussion group and I'm unsure about how much I can ramble on.
