I learned to never deprive myself, yes I want to lose weight, but I want to enjoy life. I never ever buy more than one serving and if I do, I take what I can handle and give the rest away. The lapband is about a change in lifestyle, no a complete reprogramming. Find healthier alternatives and remember portion control.

So confused after 1st consultation
FighterGirl replied to Marisol's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Long story short, it was easier. It had fewer complications and I was told if it did not work for me then I could try gastric bypass. I was very young and knew that I was willing to take a slower weight loss. -
It depends on how much weight one has to lose as well as your body. One of the things that can help you avoid major plateaus is changing up your diet and workout plan.

I can't face another clear liquid drink.. going MAD

This stage is a hard one. I had to not watch tv because it seemed as though everything was about food. Are you able to have sugar free Jello and popsicles. Popsicles really helped me get through it. -
I'm not adjusting well
FighterGirl replied to AZnikki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree a good protein shake or pudding would help the hunger...maybe some cottage cheese. To those who are gaining and feel down...DONT. I am a slow loser and you have remember each individual is different. You never know where those 2lbs came from...maybe water weight from too much sodium. If you feel you have to weigh your self try to do it at the same time and the same day in weekly or monthly intervals. I know this is about weight loss, but it is also about health. Don't drive yourself crazy over influxes in weight. -

FighterGirl replied to elizabethcagle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck! I am in the southeast area as well, I will keep a lookout for ya. -
It is awesome to see you so positive!! Exercise is difficult, especially for hose who are busy, but every little bit of movement helps. Just 30 minutes a day.

I would suggest contacting your doctor. I did begin using fiber supplements to help me be regular since I had problems digesting fibrous foods. hat could help you in the long run.

Its great to see you both back on the path to success. This battle is one that you both can conquer. Skye, what kind of exercise are you doing?

My acid reflux was a sign to my doctor that I needed to be re-banded. My journey has been a long, but fulfilling one. Don't get down, but do please call your doctor.

I have actually never had anyone ask about the scars. I think they are too afraid that it maybe a sensitive topic. I did struggle with do I tell, don't I tell, why tell and when? I realized if this is someone I am serious with and will be spending a lot of time with...then they should know. I say share when you are ready to do so. If they ask, be as vague or specific as you are ready to be with that person.

I live in Michigan and it took 2 weeks after I submitted all hey required, but this 6 years ago. I had to get a psych exam, submit medical history that documented weight loss attempts, and get all this blood work and the such. I realize that the wait was all well worth i, but I know how daunting the anxiety is.

I had the issue of gaining some weigh back before i had to be rebanded. What I did was joined a program like weight watchers with my trainer to help me have more of a support group setting. Surgery did not make my battle with food just go away. It is an addiction like anything else that I fight everyday. I think a program like that could help you get back on track.

Sleep Test and a few other questions
FighterGirl replied to Diamondette's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had one done before my surgery. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, but now it is gone. I know that my brother has it and he had surgery on his knee and he had to have a tracheotomy. -
Is 23 years old to young to get lapband?
FighterGirl replied to guy221985's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I think i is a great age because you are younger and recovery from surgery will be easier. Your body is younger and working out will be easier. I go banded when I was 19 (now going on 25) and have no regrets. -
Breast Augmentation- too soon?
FighterGirl replied to SarahT1982's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would wait until I was closer to goal weight. It will help you find the right size to fit the proportions of your new body. -
You cannot be concerned with weight loss this soon into your surgery. Your number one goal is healing properly. You need to focus on getting in nutrients and Vitamins to help this process and not worry about the scale. I really think you should stay away from the scale until you go see your surgeon.

I had my last supper a few days before my surgery. I remember what I had suprisingly...a steak, some crab legs and a huge potato. LOL, I am glad I did because the whole steak thing is hard now.

There are several great recipes online for baked egg rolls that can give you the crispy texture like they were fried without the oil.

Congrats! This is a very exciting experience. The one thing I wish I had done was documented my progress monthly through photos. Have fun getting into old and new clothes.

You do learn as you go. You learn what you can and cannot eat by testing the food. I learned that I cannot eat apples and oranges, but unlike many others I can ea asparagus. It may be a bit frightening because it is learning to eat again for the first time, bit just be patient.

the same is happening with me also.
