I am still at 194- I am beginning to hate that number with a passion, as I have been stuck at for 6+ weeks.. I had my second fill about 2 weeks ago and still am not losing... makes me sad and unmotivated. I haven't even been wanting to come onto the forum to read posts etc.. sigh sigh I know I must suck it up and just keep on trying. Sorry I am so whiny, hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi Everyone, I was banded on April 30 and today is my one month band anniversary. At one point I had lost about 12lbs and then gained back four. After my first fill on May 20th (5.2cc in 10cc), I lost the 4 and am back to good ol 194/194.5=(. I am only 5ft so being this heavy at my height not only looks horrible on me, it feels horrible. I have been yo yoing with 194 for a little less than 3 weeks and am disappointed in myself. I totally recognize a 10lb loss in one month is good, but being stuck at 194ish for so long sucks. I have always been fairly active and worked our a couple times a week. So exercise isn't my problem- food is! I do eat less and am making some better choices- but not always. I feel like I paid 15,000.00 and hoped I would have more willpower this time. I wonder if I had better willpower and could commit to writing down everything I eat/counting calories if I would have lost more by now. I wonder if I am going to be that sad girl that failed at WLS. So, I am posting on here hoping to find some support and motivation to not be that person. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Thank you lingling and Bella5425, your kind words are appreciated. I am going in for my second fill on Wed and hoping that will get me closer to this elusive sweet spot. Crossing my fingers=) Hope you all are doing well.

Thank you Txdj and California 29, your support and positive words helped! I have now signed up for the daily plate and have been logging in everything I eat and keeping track of my workouts. It made me feel much more in control and then reading that others have also stalled for 2-3 weeks helps. Scale is still not moving but at least I know I am not alone! Thanks again!

I am back 194.5 can't seem to get past this number. I had my first fill and up to 5.2 cc, but still not really losing. I am bummed=( Since I am only 5ft and have lost 10lbs since surgery I can see a difference in my clothes etc.. but I just wish I hadn't been yo yoing with 194.5 for almost 3 weeks. sorry i am so whiny!

I had gained a few pounds but now am back down to 195.2. I had a fill on 5/20 so hopefully that is already helping. [/img]

hey everyone, Congrats on getting filled, hopefully we will all get to our sweet spot soon! I got filled today and I have 5.2 cc in my 10cc AP band. Apparently, I had 4cc in from surgery so they added 1.2. It really suprised me that I had that much in my band, as I have been ravenous since starting on solid foods. I have even gained about 4lbs back=(...I am hoping that the 5.2 will help my hunger abate and I will begin losing again. It is a bit scary to realize that even with 4cc I was able to gain so much weight. I hoping that this isn't a sign that the band won't work for me. For those of you getting fills soon- I wish you good luck! [/img]

Congrats to all of you on your loss! For those of us that haven't lost this week or gained- hang in there! As for me- I went down to 193.5 and now am back at 194.5 (at surgery 204) started mushies/more solid food and have gained 1lb and an inch back in my waist=(. I have been working out religiously and am writing down what I eat... I at about 1200 calories and am going to try to go down to 1000 to see if that will at least help me maintain.

2 weeks post op and frustrated.
1980 replied to erikaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand where you are coming from!! I was banded April 30 and sure enough my weight loss has stalled. I had lost 11 lbs from surgery to have gained 1lb back. I realize that this is a small gain and am grateful to have lost 10lbs. I also know that everyone has provided great advice (thank God), that this is normal and we should be focused on healing, but I want you to know I feel your frustration and think that it SUCKS! Sigh, sigh now we must survive "bandster hell" and trust that this will work eventually. I am scheduled to get a fill on May 26, but may try to move it up a week. Hang in there! -
I flew a few days ago and put a single size serving of applesauce and chocolate pudding in a zip lock bag, it went through security just fine.
-
I am also self-pay and worry that somehow this will not work for me. When I think back to the million diets I have tried and lost weight on, to only gain it all back, I get worried. But, then I think this is very different- we actually have a tool inside us that will help keep us on track. Even if we occasionally screw up with food choices we still will not be able to eat as much as we used to and will get full faster. I know some people lose weight quickly and never screw up, but I doubt I will be that ideal perfect patient. I am sure I will have ups and downs- but in the end I will get there- and so will you!

Hi I am 194.4 today. Started 204- surgery was 4/30.
-
I am trying to walk everyday for 30 minutes and start doing light strength training by Monday. I had surgery on 4/30 and have lost 9lbs in 7 days! I tried to create the below ticker, but I am not sure if I did it right...

I was also banded on 30 and have had a horrible time with the gas and effects of anesthesia. Like everyone said I think the blues are normal and we just have to suffer through them. I have been definitely having moments where I wonder if this was the best thing for me- I think prolonged physical discomfort, would make anyone feel sad! Hang in there and I hope you feel better soon!

Congrats on being banded!

Thank you Chifani for the well wishes. I am officially a BANDSTER! Apparently, the first thing I said out of surgery when they woke me was "I am going to be skinny again=)." Unforuntately, I am very sensitive to anthesia and am having a very hard time with the naseau and gas. Everytime I tried to burp, I start gagging as if I am going to vomit. I am also running a low fever and my face is swollen. I paged the doctor, but the patient educator called me back. She had no real answers for my complaints, besides saying I could be allergic to the Loratab. I explained that was not possible as I have taken it before. She said for me to call back if I was still having issues. I find it annoying that after paying 15,000.00 I can't even speak to my doctor or a nurse. Sigh sigh hopefully these issues will abate sooon, so I can be more excited about the band. I love reading everyone's post and how much they have lost, it is very inspirational. Thanks for all the support!

Hi, I am getting banded on April 30 and am having a hard time with the pre-op diet. I can drink 2-3 Protein shakes and have 2-3 meals with 4-6oz protein, 1 cup fruit, and green veggies. I have seen pre-op diets that are much more restrictive, so I feel like a wimp for not being able to stick to it. I have been on it for 6 days and cheated 2x. This has been an extremely stressful week for me, as a family member was in the hospital for major surgery. Our family has been together non stop since Monday, taking turns doing shifts at the hospital and now staying with her at night. Although they are very supportive of my decision to have this surgery, they are by no means going to stop eating badly in front of me (huge bags of cheetos, m&ms, cheescake- stuff I don't even usually crave but I am dying for because it is in my face!). Anyhoo, I thought if I posted on here I could get some extra support to stay on track. I am thinking about going to straight liquids for the next four days to make sure my liver has shrunk... Anyone else having a hard time?
-
Thank you myturn2bhappy and AngieB2009 for your support! I had my pre-op appt yesterday and my doctor told me that I should be fine for surgery. I totally confessed that I had cheated 2x, but he said that was ok. He even told me I could have a meal today with carbs and it shouldn't hurt my liver. Luckily, since I lost 6lbs on the pre-op diet he was not worried. I am crossing my fingers that all goes well tomorrow!
-
Thank you for the support, it's nice to know that I am not the only one who cheated a bit. I spent some time on the forum reading your posts back to me and about other people's sturggles and now feel back on track! You are right that it would absooooluteely suck to go through all of this and not be able to actually have surgery- so I am trying to focus on that fear when I get tempted=) Thank you again for your message!
-
Thank you so much for the encouragement! After I read your post, I actually went out and go the Ketosis strips- and it looks like I am still in Ketosis- pheew, so my cheating hopefully was not bad enough to do any damage or perhaps space out enough to keep me in Ketosis (when I cheated I had eaten two bites of cheesecake, and on the day of my family member's surgery, i ate chocolate pudding=(. Now, I am back on track and feeling soo much better about myself. I believe I read you are in Band Hell- I hope that it is getting better for you and thanks again!
-
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I am sorry you had such a stressful time during your pre-op as well, but I am so glad your surgery went well! I hope your partner is doing better with the band. It is so hard to take care of yourself when your loved ones are ill. I am doing better and am happy to report that I am 100% back on track.

I'm Not Telling Anyone I'm Being Banded.....
1980 replied to laurenlee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only told my closest family members and few friends. I am getting banded on April 30, and it is hard when everyone is not supportive. I have always yo yo-ed between being fairly thin and really chubby - so some of my loved ones keeps saying that I can do this on my own. They do not seem to understand that I may be able to lose the weight but I obviously cannot keep it off! On top of it, when I asked the few friends I did tell to keep it very very secret- one said- I don't want you to be like Star Jones.... I understood her sentiment that she was worried about people noticing and me looking like I am lying- however, I still found it rude. I may being ultra sensitive about it but it offended me because I had explained that my weightloss probably will not be that rapidly obvious (im about 5' and 200-208lbs, since pre-op I may be in 190s..dont have an accurate scale around;). Anyhoo, thanks for posting this thread, as it gave me a chance to rant=). Congrats to all of us that have decided to do this procedure and make changes in our lives! -
Hi I am getting banded on April 30. Thank you PharmaGirl for telling me about the April Forum. My stats: 29, female, 208 and can't wait to be skinny... =)

Dr. Benavides/ Private Pay Questions
1980 replied to 1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Maddy and ParrotheadCathy Thank you both for your advice and congratulations on your weightloss! I checked out the TLC website and it is still 9990, so it is great to know that may be an option. It is also great to know that 15,000 and 10 fills is accross the board from True Results. I have heard really fabulous things about Dr. Benavides and I really liked their staff so it may be worth the extra 5,000.00 (yikes!) for peace of mind. Thank you both for the advice!
