Is there a reason to not have caffiene during pre-op diet. HELP! lol

Caffiene I was told is a diretic (sp) makes you go to the bathroom all of the time. So if you not careful you will dehydrate. I drank it and was fine but you know what after my surgery I couldn't drink it any longer. I tried and tried it just doesn't taste like it used to. I was a 1-2 pot a day person. -
Actually Sleepy Jean No I couldn't go the whole time with only fluids. My doc wanted me too but I am weak. What I did eat was very very soft thin foods especaily after I PB'd on fish. I learned my lesson the hard way. After that I stayed mostly on liquids.

I am excited. Yesterday I had my one month check up. To date I have lost 25 pounds. Still no fills for another 4 weeks, but they did start me on soft foods. I am to eat 6 times a day and keep right at 800 calories. I truly hope I can do this especially without a fill. Right now I am starving.:hungry:

I too am just 4 weeks out and starving. I try to make the right choices but I still eat too much of the right foods.

I will be banded 4 week tomorrow. No fill as of right now. Yesterday I just couldn't seem to get full. I ate soft foods but I know way to much. Then it hit me I felt horrible. I was to full and I stayed that way for most of the night I was very uncomfortable.

I had the same thing happen to me last week with fish. It was going down well I chewed and chewed then Boom it hit all of a sudden the pain, the feeling of sickness, I couldn't breath I actually thought I was going to pass out. Thank goodness it finally came up NO MORE FISH FOR ME.

Thanks Donna I will try the Maalox. Having you guys to talk to helps me so much. I think if I didn't have this board to look to for answers my poor doc's phone would be constantly ringing

Hi Guys, I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have been banded for 3 weeks now everything seemed to be going along really well. I tried to eat a piece of very soft fish and well it got stuck and man oh man the pain. Needless to say I ended up sliming and then PB'ing. Every since I have felt discomfort in my chest back and under my rib cage on my port side. Is this normal for a few days after you have a slime or PB. Please any advice is welcome I am scared I might have done something when I threw up.

I like you have poor will power. I guess thats what has me at the weight I am today. I did the liquid stage for two weeks before I caved and started with soft mushie foods. But after I had the episode with the fish that scared me and I went right back to full liquids. I don't go back for a checkup with my doc until the 27th and I am supposed to be still on liquids until then. But I am starving. I know I won't be able to hold out.
-
yep went back to liquids and very very mushie foods. Actually today for lunch I had very running oatmeal and I think it made me feel better. The pain is starting to go away. Maybe the warmth helped me out.

I am still waiting for my first fill. Did you have any kind of symptons like this before you had your fill?
-
Myra, Have you had a fill yet?
-
Thanks for your advice. I guess I am just alittle scared that something isn't right in there. I am back on Liquids and Mushies so hopefully it will go away soon.

After sliming and being stuck (i think) is it normal the next day to still have some discomfort?

I had pretty much the same experience last nite. Tried to eat a small piece of fish. It must have got stuck had severe pain until I threwup. Now this morning I'm not in pain but I am alittle uncomfortable when i sip water or my protein drink. I am praying that nothing slipped. -
I was banded on 6/27 and I am doing great. No pain energy level starting to come back. I have added a few soft foods (mashed potatoes, jello) Tried some grilled fish last nite and no can do. I had my first slime and I think I was stuck. I was in much pain until I ended up throwing up. Then I was scared that I might have caused a slip. Today I am back on full liquids.

I was banded 6/27/06 went back to my doctor yesterday for just a checkup after the surgery. I have lost 21 lbs since June 15 (thats when my pre-op diet started). Told me to keep up what I have been doing that I was doing great. I am still very hungry, still on just clear liquids, won't be able to start full liquids until next week. Has anyone started full solids or soft foods earlier than their doc said to?

I have that nausea feeling also not enough to actually throw up but enough to make you feel horrible. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it.

I just had my surgery on Tuesday. Everything went well I actually feel pretty good after the gas has left me that was the hardest so far in the surgery. Now trying to learn how to listen to my tummy and the feelings it is giving me. Has anyone felt like a knot at the top of your tummy sometimes it feels like you have to burp but nothing ever happens hurts alittle not alot then goes away

Can you tell me where to find the diet
-
Mine thought I was a binge eater and decided that I needed counseling before he would recommend me for the surgery. I had everything else that the insurance required but he was the one that put the hold on everything for about 3 months. Finally then he did release me and the same day I was approved thru my insurance and got my surgery date.
-
My surgery is on Tuesday the 27th and I too am getting nervous, anxious and having all kinds of different feelings about it. I am afraid like you that they will get inside me then change their mind or something and me wakening up and finding out that it wasn't done.
-
I am so scared. If I can't seem to follow the 2 week pre-surgery diet how am I going to follow the rules after surgery. Has anyone felt like this or have this problem?
-
My doctor has perscribed an injection for me to have the day before my surgery. I pick it up at the drug store and find a person I am comfortable with to give it to me or I can go back to my doctor. He told me what it was for but I can't remember and I can't read his handwriting to look it up on the internet. Anyone else have to have an injection the day before surgery.
