April '09 Bunnies...2 Year Bandiversary!
SHSUSioux replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay I am reposting and hopefully my golf picture will come up! Not the best picture of me but you can see me from head to toe. I am at an impass on if I want to just maintain or if I want to push the envelope and go for the 100 lbs lost mark. I am comfortable at this size so not sure what I am going to do yet! One day and one decision at a time, right? -

I am down over 80 lbs! I have had my ups and downs but all in all, I would do it 100 times over in a heartbeat! I soooo love my band. My family has named it Puff from all the weird noises it makes after I eat or drink! I have not been on this forum in about a year so I look forward to seeing everyone else's update. I am about to try to figure out how to post a skinny profile pic! Woohoo! Who would have EVER thought I would see a size 10 again! Starting Weight 251 Today's Weight 167 -
April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?
SHSUSioux replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not check in for a very long time. After looking at everyones loss I feel that I am right on track. My band birthday is 4/24/09 and since then I have lost 46 lbs. Woohoo! Almost to onederland! -
I am so sorry I have not gotten back with you. I have not been on this site in months. I LOVE Dr. Felts. He is all business. He takes care of his patients. I had a fill and it was too much and Dr. Felts was out of town so he arranged for me to see another Dr. It still was bad so two days after that Dr. Felts met me after hours to give me another unfill. He really cares!

I was banded by Dr. Felts on April 24, 2009. It is one of the biggest decisions I have ever made. I have a lot of medical anxiety and the way I have been taken care of before, during, and after surgery has been awesome! I would recommend Dr. Felts to anyone considering this surgery. Thanks Dr. Felts!

I will be at 3 months July 24. I have lost 22 pounds. My doc says slow and steady and that I am on track but I am so impatient. I want this weight off. I can see progress in my body. I know it took years to put on and may take a year of two to get it off but I am so tired of the battle. I have been having anger issues about food. Has anyone else had this? I just sit there with food in front of me and get mad because I know if I eat it, I will hurt and it is not worth it. Sometimes I just want to be normal again...but not enought to go back to where I was!

My Dr. has already let me move to mushies. I have lived on mashed potatoes and soup and cottage cheese. The "real food" has not helped! I finally had to lay down in my office for lunch and take a power nap and even then that did not help. I hope this is normal. -

I was banded the 24th and have felt so weak and tired. I am relieved to hear that I am not alone but how long should this last? I had this surgery to loose weight and have more energy. I am just tired of being tired...even more so than preop! Any ideas? -

Hi everyone! I had surgery Friday and I lived through it. They had to give me two knock out shots to get me into surgery. I have bad anxiety. Pain has been tolerable. Gas not so much. I have had gas-X every 3-4 hrs on the dot. I have not had much sleep b/c I cannot get comfortable. I had no nausea until last night and woke up very sick. I dry heaved 4 times before my husband could get the anti nauesa pills under my tounge. I hope I did not damage anything. During that same time I got explosive diarreah sp? has anyone had this? I was SOOO sick and then as soon as it came, it passed. I took myself off of strong meds and down graded to tylenol liquid b/c I THINK that is what caused nausea. Thanks to all for your continued encouragement. PS: I sucked it up and went on the interview and it went very well but I was wiped out the rest of the day. -

I have a bad back so I know I can function okay on pain meds. I know if I am too sore to go then it is what it is BUT I at least want to give myself a shot and not count myself out before I know. My husband and my mom both said they will drive me so I am covered there. I just hate that it had to come NOW. I am not rescheduling this surgery for ANYTHING! I'm all systems go. -

I don't know why these things happen to me but I got a call yesterday that the school district I am trying to get a job at will be holding interviews Saturday. I was picked for the first round of interviews but it will only be one day post op. I explained I am having surgery and she said that they could reschedule but it would be with round two interviews IF they need them. I told her I will suck it up and be there in round one because I don't want to blow my chances. I hope I will be okay...any advice? -
I am nervous! I am ready but nervous. I have lost all of the weight my Dr. wanted me to on my preop diet so all is well. How are you doing?

Hello all! I am on my preop diet (day 4) and have not lost ANY WEIGHT. I have followed instruction perfectly but no results. How long was it before any of you saw a decrease in weight. I have an 800 calorie diet. 2-3 protein shakes and 2 small meals per day. I have stayed in my limits. What is up??? -

I emailed the nurse and asked if the doctor wanted me on pre-op diet since most of you on this forum have one. He had mentioned loosing 5-8 lbs before surgery which I posted a few days ago. The nurse emailed back that she emailed instructions in an earlier email with a bunch of attachments so I went back and found it. Just a warning to be sure and ask because if I had not of asked they might have canceled my surgery with no preop diet done! Close Call! -

Update: I went to my preop appt. yesterday. I am on a low cal diet but Dr. said he was not worried about my liver. He said if I loose 5-8 lbs by surgery day (24th) all will be fine. I went by the surgery center where I am scheduled for surgery. It really helped my medical anxiety to see the surroundings I will be in. I would recommend this to anyone with medical phobias. It really calmed my nerves and now I will not have the added anxiety of processing new surroundings on the day of surgery! Bless all of you on liquid diets because I bought some protein shake and it was the worst thing I have ever tasted! -

BG thanks so much...I needed that pick me up. As I posted on your blog comments, I think that this group was fate for me because I have been married for 11 years and even before we were married, my husband's pet name for me is and always has been "Bunny". How fitting that I am a bunny bandster! -

Hi, my name is Amanda and I live outside of Dallas, TX. I am 28 years old and have been married to my best friend for the last 11 years. I have a step son, 12, and 4 dogs. We are thinking about kids but I need to do this for me before I can think of bringing another human on this earth. I am so ready to do this! Surgery day April 24, 2009!!!

Rewarding yourself along the way...

April Bunnies threads have helped me so much...now I really need to put some thought into minigoals so I do not get discouraged if things are not moving as fast as I would like. Thanks for the suggestion. -
Just remember to keep breathing. I admit it, I am 28 years old and WILL be taking a stuffed bunny to my surgery to keep me calm (well, as calm as possible). I suggest you take something you can focus your energies on like an ipod with your favorite music.

Pharmagirl...you have me as SHUSHioux it is SHSUSioux. Just FYI! Thank you so much for keeping up with us all! I am so ready to have this done and move forward in my life. I feel like I am on slo-mo waiting for surgery day. Like my life has stopped and will resume after. That may sound wierd but it is how I feel. I also suffer from a lot of medical anxiety due to bad past experiences so that may be a contributing factor.
