Betsy, Isn't it the truth. The more you hear the more you learn, then filter down to what works for you. Do you feel up to the Tuesday Spivak meeting? Even though the last one got sort of thrown together because the speaker didn't show--I must admit I got a lot from it. Maybe we'll find out at the next one that it's best that the speaker doesn't show:) I'm so with you on the snacking and emotional/bored eating. We need to keep a list to remind us of other things to do--fun things, good things. Most times I just don't think--eating is just so easy and such a engrained habit. One time when I was dieting and making good progress, I had a list at my desk that I would quickly look at and remember what to do--that sounds so dumb--but it worked. I really think our conversation coming and going to the meeting was the best for me--even if I needed your help getting out of my own neighborhood:)

Wow! That interview is interesting. It makes a lot of sense to me. It sounds something like what those high losers at the doc's meeting were trying to say. Every time I hear more info, it starts to make more sense to me. I wish I had heard that interview. Was it a doc you had heard about before? I think I'm going to cancel the fill I had for Monday. I have some restriction--I think I was looking for a quick loss.

Hey girls, Just wanted to check in with yall. Loved going to the meeting with Betsy! I had out of town company the next 3 days and immediately got sick the 2nd day with a terrible cold--fever and all! I'm just starting to feel ok again. Can't wait to get together again and discuss Spivak meeting. It was really an eye opener--haven't gotten to try anything yet cause I've been sick in bed. I lost 3 pounds, but I'm sure it's just dehydration from being sick, so I'm not counting it yet. This is my first day back on the computer.

Hey Humble Bandsters, how was the meet last night? How many came. Sorry I missed. I did have a wonderful homecoming with my son after a year in Bagdad--that's the only reason I would have missed my group!

Betsy, I think the idea of totally eliminating foods is going to get us in trouble. But the truth is, it's calories in vs. calories out. Cheese as you know is high in calories. After La Villa I had 2 weeks without loss--that food was soooo tasty and smooth I ate it all and then wanted more--went back the next Saturday. And it sort of got me started thinking about more smooth food and how great that tasted--so I had other things that got me eating to much of easy to swallow foods. So I have to be very careful setting myself up for that kind of pleasure. I do better--of course--meat first--veg's--but then I still eat potatoes or rice or bread, but I fill up sooner with that kind of food, so I lose weight. The smooth food like Mexican, Lasagna, spaghetti--a little dangerous for me. Just my take on things for now:)

I'd love to have you join us! The more imput the better. I won't be at the meeting on the 12th, my son is just getting back from Bagdad after a year of service. I'm sure you'll like the group, very warm and friendly. I've really enjoyed the support and am learning a lot. Hope to meet you soon.

Betsy, got things taken care of, so we are on for the meeting. As I think about it, I think I had to register. But what would they do if I brought you with me? If you want to check it out. It's Wanda Chase that is running the meeting for him. She is supposed to be a very successful bandster. I sent her an email to Spivakbandmd@yahoo.com. and she got it and responded very quickly and kindly--said I could ask questions anytime.

Hey Betsy, It was great to get together again:) I really like the support and friendship of our little group. The Spivak meeting is March 13 Tuesday 7-8pm. I have one little conflict on that night that I hope to take care of tomorrow. I will let you know asap. It shouldn't be a problem, but I had forgotten about it till I got home. I really would like to go to the meeting together--let you know real soon. Thanks also for the "very interesting" reading--that was crazy! Love stuff like that! You gals have great guys--so supportive. Hope to intoduce my other half of 39 years at the next La Villa meet.

Betsyjane, I think if I remember it was La Villa. Do you remember if Barbara said it was the one near Tai Lee (sp?)? Have you noticed the abundance of business going on at the new Mex food restaurant in Huffman right on 2100? There must have been 35 cars parked there tonight at dinner time. It's called Los Compadres. It might be too crowded for a meeting. But it must be good.

Hey Betsy Jane, How'd you figure all that out? I'm impressed! Is there a formula somewhere? I'm stalled out on weight loss. I'm at 37 lbs down and holding.... Oh and guess what else--hurt my knees at Jazzercise:( I'm going to rest a week and either go back or start walking (boring). I knew it was too good to be true. Thanks for listening. Kathy, I think you'll like Dr Spivak. He was my surgeon. I was so nervous I chickened out 4 times. He was great about that--he said when you are ready that is the right time. I'm really happy I finally did it. Good luck!

I'm feeling similar "need more support" issues! And my son is returning from year tour in Bagdad! Guess when he will be here--March 12th. Well you know where I will be. It's been a long year, so I'll be missing for that meeting, but would like to submit my vote for more meetings. Thanks, Lana

Oh my. Yall are really special people to love animals sooooo much. Now I wish my dogs were a large breed. I hate taking them for a kennel stay. It's so different from what they know and how they are babied at home. What a wonderful idea. About Jazz, still going 5 days a week and still loving it. Hoping you'll join me sometime. I get way in the back if possible, but nobody is paying attention, because they are all trying to follow the leader. Do you know if the every other Monday meeting is going to take off??? and when will we start?? Thanks, Lj

I think I like the idea of more support meetings. Does anybody have the experience of having a fill, then losing 4 or 5 lbs. and then staying the same weight for the rest of the month? That's what's happening to me. Then I have another fill. Do you think I should wait it out another month or have another fill? I'm eating quite a bit less, exercising, but stop losing after the initial loss after a fill? Please let me know your experience. Thanks

Hey Betsyjane, Bummer about Los Vegas. The scoop on Jazzercise is that the leader on MWF @ 9:40 am is older than me! She only does what they call "Lite" Class for people just starting up or pregnant:) or old or whatever. I wear old old crummy stretch pants and a T shirt. No body dresses in tights anymore--except the leader sometimes, but not fancy. There are about 8-12 women depending on the day. I'd love to have you in our class:) I know you won't feel like it till you get over your cold, but keep thinking about it. It is so much fun and they don't make you feel like a klutz--we are all in it together. You can go to Jazzercise.com and put in your zip and get a list of all the class times and locations. Hope you decide to join me and by the way I am a total klutz who loves to dance:)

Betsyjane, I had a cold back in November--one month after my surgery and I coughed and sneezed plenty as I remember and no problem. Just think of the bandsters that have upchucked or I think they call it PB ing? That's pretty hard on the system. I did have that happen yesterday and it felt a lot worse than a sneeze. I'm sure you will here from others that will tell you not to worry. I'm so sorry your sick. I hope you get better real soon:)

I've had only good things to say about Dr Spivak. I'm a retired RN and find him very warm and informative. When I told him I went to both seminars and really wanted him to do my surgery, he said he seems to get mostly medical people coming to him. He is very soft spoken and fully glad to answer all your questions. He really seems to care about your sucess. Would you believe I cancelled on him 4 times because of second thoughts and he told me not to worry about the cancel's, that you have to do it when you are ready. I really appreciated that so much.

Hi Ladies, I was at the meeting tonight and it was so nice to meet people going through the same things. It was fun and informative. I think we decided the next meeting would be the second Monday in March, same place same time. Be sure and watch for a better update from the others involved.
