    Alcohol?

Hi, I have been drinking white wines and have not had a problem. I drank some bacardi and pink lemonade crystal light too (yummy on a hot day) I know we are supposed to stay away from carbination...streches the pouch. I have lost 37 pounds in 6 weeks so I dont think its hindered my weight loss. Plus we need to have some fun still right??

    Fill Needle

I had my first fill yesterday and I work at a dental office, I see and handle needles all the time and ....boy oh boy that was the longest, biggest needle Ive ever seen. Although, nothing about it was "painful" just felt weird. I can tell the difference totally, and dont feel hungry at all. So far so good witht his lap band adventure.

HI!! Dont feel bad, big girl undies, 18 pounds is awesome!!!! My surgery was 1 month 4 days ago, I was really surprised about the recovery too. I had alot more pain than I expected. My body is getting used to not eating I spose. Alot of the head hunger is getting easier for me as time goes on. Ive lost 32 pounds!!!!!! I cant even believe it! Im feeling sooo good and its awesome to know that Ill never gain this back. One problem has been constipation.....yay, but seems milk of magnesa took care of that today. (ahhh, relief) I even got my "drink" on last nite vodka and crystal light....was yummy!! Soooo nice to be feeling like my self again and looking/feeling better each day. Nice to chat with all u 30-ers :tea:

    Your story..

Hi! I had mine done 3 weeks ago! I am feeling back to my normal self (but thinner already) I am a self pay. I have battled my weight problem since I had my daughter, 14 years ago and really yo-yo'ed in my weight through the years, Diets worked for me but I just couldnt keep the weight off. The past year i just gave up, and that led to a hard year, I even tried anti depressants. That did not help at all. So, I went to a seminar and talked to my husband and just got the ball rolling. Seemed like forever to get through all the tests and pre-surgery stuff but then finally it was done and now Im on the other side....drinking my protein shakes, taking the calcium, and vitamins....and LOSING weight!!!!! I just weighed this morning, looks like Im losing about 4 1/2 pounds a week. I lost 10 the week before surgery, so 26 total. YAY! I cant believe this is it, and that I WILL be thin and healthy for the rest of my life! By the way I have a very strict Dr. so I am STILL on a LIQUID diet! So, it's not like its easy. I will start pureed food next week, then 2 weeks later intro to solids. I have my first fill appt August 4th, Im glad because Iam getting that hungry feeling now! Good luck to you and your wife, thats awesome!!
  11. Hi all. My surgery was 10 days ago and I have been scared to try and take my calcium capsules, my Dr. said to open them up and put them in my protein shakes I tried that but it tastes sooo gritty, YUCK. So. I swallowed two yesterday, then I sorta burped and all the powder was up in my throat, REALLY YUCK.:mmph: I figured mabey I had too muck liquid in my tummy, so I tried this morning on a completley empty stomache and the same thing happened. Im still on a liquid diet, so I dont know if this happens with food sometimes or what? Any suggerstions? Any liquid calcium, I am supposed to have 3500 mg's a day! Other than that everything has been going great!! Just wish these incisions would go away! Im still quite sore with certain movements. THANKS for any help!!
  12. I was just talking about the "swallowing" issue yesterday with my girlfriends. AHHAHA Sounds like its all fine and dandy. My love will be happy to hear that :scared:

    Food nightmares

Ha ha I was banded 2 weeks ago, been on liguid diet for 3 weeks. Went to 2 BBQ's over the 4th and had a "nightmare" that my little 1 oz cups of water next to mt bed, was a big juicy BBQ'd steak and I was leaning over pigging out on it, knowing I shouldnt. When I woke up I was glad it was a dream hahaha

Where to put the heating pad???

Hi, I tried heating pad, then my Doc called to check on me and he said to use ICE on the tummy, works way better than heat. I had the shouler pain and then some back pain, still have a little of that. My surgery was 13 days ago. GOOOD LUCK  Stay on top of the pain meds, hopefully you got a prescription, if not, have your Doc call you in some!

    Thirtysomething's

HI!! I was banded 11 days ago! Im 32, Mom of 2 kids and have a awesome wonderful husband who has been so great through this. I work in a dental office, was a dental assistant for 10 years, now am the office manager. Any how, its nice to have this 30-something thread. I have been doing good, "celebrating" the 4th pretty much sucked for me, Im still on liquid diet for 2 more weeks But Ive been losing soo fast!!! 22 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! I can do it!!!!!! About, telling people, I know, its a tricky thing, I have friends that are supportive, but, they can also say weird things, like "your just gonna be a hot little thing" kinda like thats why Im doing it. People who have never had a problem with their weight have no idea how hard day to day things are and emotionally. None of us on here are trying to just LOOK better than our friends or any of that crap. We all just wanna feel good, be healthy and shop for cute clothes that will fit. So, it is kinda strange. I sometimes feel like its a very vein thing to do, but I know for me its not all about looks. SO............Did anyone cheat over the 4th?? Oh, I had my first DREAM about eating! hahah, Drempt there was a big ol plate of BBQ'd steak next to my bed and I ate it and was freaking out in my dream. haha
  17. Hi, I was banded on Friday, and I noticed before my surgery I was searching on LBT for details about just what it was like after, seems you plan for so long and its so consuming just picturing what ife will be like after. I decided to write a bit about how my expeience has been, hopefully it can help some people that have surgery coming up. When I got home I was VERY sore, I ended up with 7 incsions, I also had to have my gullbladder removed (lots of gulls stones).:sick I took my pain meds ever 4 hours then the next day the pain was coming back in like 3 or 2 hours so I called my Dr he said i could take my meds every 2 hours if i needed to (liquid percoset) So I did That helped. Each day thats went by has been SOO much better. This morning i did take dose but its been 4 hours and i still feel fine. As far as drinking, I think I have been doing pretty good, I keep the 1 ounce cups next to me all day with a variey of juices, crystal light and propell fitness water and just plain water. I SIP those all day long. Then 3 times a day I drink 4 Ounces of my protein shakes. They are Yummy and I totally look forward to them. I feel really full after drinking them I have 3 flavors, vanilla, choc, butter nut toffee. I make them with a hand blender thing and they are like a slushy. My Dr says a month of this liquid diet and I really think I can do it. I dont feel hungry...Its Amazing!!!! I have some strange gurgerling noises in my tummy but I dont think they are hunger pains. I lost 10 ounds in the week B4 sugery on the liquid diet (my Dr makes his pts do this to help shrink the liver fat) It was TORTURE, becasue i was starving. Now since Ive been home from the hosptal Ive lost like 5 more pounds in 4 days. I am in shock!!! WOW! SO , keep you chins up, it really works, it has for me and Iam just so glad to be at this point im my life! Ive been pretty much in jammies the whole time and only wore my bra for a couple hours, so dont get me wrong there is alot of pain....Alot, for me any way- but its so worth is and just take the pain meds, sleep as much as you can. My husband did everything for me all weeknd and was soooo awesome, He is the best, my kids have been great too, they are 14 and 9. Im back to work on Thursday!! Hope this helps some of you! Im so excited for the rest of my journey!

    Pre-Op Liquids??? HELP

I did my 10 day liquid diet and IM so glad I did. My surgery went so great and my Dr was very glad I did it. I also lost 10 pounds! I think it prepares you for how the new life is goig to be for a while. I also weend my self off coffee and pop like 3 weeks before. I dont miss it it all now. mine was 90 grams protien shakes, clear fruit juices (watered down) SF popcycles, SF jello clear soup broth. What did you wear on surgery day?

Hi, I wore baggy black jammy pants, a baggt tank top and baggy sweatshirt and flip flops. Slip on shoes are good so you dont have to bend over...no undies, why bother? I wore that home too but with no bra. My surgery was 3 days ago and I havent wore my bra since. Ive beeen in jammies ever since I got home. I think I will try to get dressed today.

    Sodas or Champagne

My doc said NO CARBONATION of any kind because it streches the pouch. Sounds like some people do fine with it. I love the bubbly too, mimosas yum. Will miss that 4 sure:mad: But i wouldnt want to stretch my tummy after all this $$ and effort !!
  24. :help: I am reading all these great helpful hints from everyone on what to eat after surgery. Recipes with milk, and cream soups keep coming up. My Dr. says, no milk EVER, breaks down into sugar as soon as it goes down. Adds to SLOW weight LOSS! I can have cheese, cottage cheese, ect. Was wondering did anyone elses Dr.s advise against milk? Also NO SUGAR ever. (under 5 grams per serving) Thanks, This is a great place to learn Thanks to my friend Pam (the Queen) for showing me !!
  25. :phanvan Im on the pre surgery liquid diet and am going a little nuts. My Dr. Says Liquids only for ONE MONTH after surgery. My question is once the band is placed, will I feel less hungry right away? The things Im eating (drinkning) are getting boring already. I am a very motivated person and am SOOO excited for this new time in my life, although the past couple days of this are really wearing me down. I almost feel, airheadish. I have been getting 60 grams of protein, and my calcium, and vitamins. Please tell me it gets easier after surgery! Thanks for any reply and for words of incouragement:rolleyes
