I'm doing good - just cant bend over yet! but its fine, it is true- though- what goes in comes out the same so this liquid diet is kicking my behind ! lol excuse the bad pun haha but other than that, I'm not in too much pain, just soreness and tightness around the incisions.

thanks i hadn't even thought about allergic reactions to the tape but that makes sense what did you do to stop the itching?
-
thanks everyone! i'm doing ok... i was even able to get out of bed w/o help the first night at home... i'm just having gas pains in my tummy not in my shoulder (yet). i went with my mom to the grocery store today and to walmart later in the day. walked slow but did it. walking is the only thing that is helping besides meds which i am gladly taking. i love my remote controlled reclining chair. its a lifesaver! just have an itchy rash all over my body.... weird... will post pics later. gn everyone!

July 5- I'm also nervous about my social life afterwards... I am just about to get my first apartment in nyc and am looking forward to dinner parties and cocktail parties... I think I'll still have them, but I'll just eat a smaller amount of what they are eating. I've told all my friends and they are very supportive of me. They know I want this and they are trying to help. I can proudly say that I have only lost one friend to this and it's because he started drug abusing. I hope that I'll still go out- with Crystal Light Flavor Packets and light vodka, but I also hope that I'll be able to go out dancing for more than a hour or so. Best of luck--- 2 days left for us, until our NEW, much improved life begins!

I was all ready to have the surgery next Wednesday... In fact, all I needed was the pre-op! So as I was doing my pre-op on Tuesday, the doctor told me that I needed to see a cardiologist because my heart is having trouble pumping blood on the right side and I have an irregular heartbeat. She said that without the cardiologists' approval I won't have the surgery. Seems like a lot to handle when I've waited for this for 2 years and my mom was just banded on Monday. It's even worse to tell her about it because I don't want her to worry. I saw my surgeon and he said he didn't have a problem with my heart, but the anthesiologist (sp) might have one! I see the cardiologist later today for clearance... so wish me luck!

Good luck ericsmom! My drive to the hospital is only 10-15 min as well! Aren't we lucky? I feel your pain about not being able to sleep! I'm so stressed out about the surgery because its my first surgery, that sleep is a precious comodity. Tylenol PM would be great right about now.. I think I will take it if I ever have time to sleep! I'm really excited about the surgery but in shock that its only 2 days away, and so I'm kind of numb about it. I've been showing my stress in odd ways like overeating when I KNOW I'm full. And I'm not eating bad foods right now- mostly soft foods like seafood, but I'm eating alot of it when I eat. I'm going to go on liquids for most of tomorrow, and then POW- I'll be at the hospital! Tomorrow is the first day I can sleep without an alarm clock in a month, so I'm going to sleep as long as possible! Best wishes for a quick recovery! The nurses and Doctor Singh said the Gas-X would do nothing because the gas was not in her stomach or intestines... It was the gas they filled her up with that was bothering her... so she could do nothing about it. Hope its not that way for me!

I'm also July 5th! lol I wish everyone success! -
I'm not married (I'm 21) but I talked to my mom about this (married 32 years) and she said that she was told that the band can make a strong marriage stronger and a weak marriage fail. I think shes right. Maybe you had problems before this happened and this is just bringing it out. But I do understand what you mean bout looking around. I being overweight my entire dating life, never wanted to date someone overweight because of 2 reasons... 1> we don't fit together right, and 2> I wanted someone with good self-esteem and I know that weight problems are also mental issues. But after 22 years, you should know if she is the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with, and if she isn't don't play her into believing she is while you wonder. That just isn't fair.

haha i know what you mean... i think we are lucky... we get to have the liquid diet when we are doped up on medication and don't feel like eating... so we are thinking less about food and our stomach is already smaller so it takes less to fill. My mom hasn't complained one bit yet about the liquids (but its only been since monday) so hopefully it won't be too bad. I like the protein shakes anyway!

opps maybe this should be in the support section..thats where I thought I was posting... can someone move it for me? thanks

Lack of Sleep and Air Conditioning Lead to Obesity
Leona06 replied to Bye's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This makes me think of my childhood... I was super active growing up in Alabama- ( I lived there until I was 8), I swung on branches and ran free in the fields... I even had a tan! When I moved to Maryland, I still played outside and softball and such (My neighbors had 3 boys my age) and I had a trampoline which I loved! I remained really active until high school, when I went to a school that took an hour and a half to get back and forth each way... I would be so exhausted that I would just pass out after dinner. I wouldn't get home until 5:30 on a normal day and when I had after school activities I wouldn't be home til 10pm. It made it hard to come home and go outside. Thats when I really packed on the pounds. At college, I started drinking and partying but by then I was already in the 200s. That's not to say I wasn't overweight to start with ( I was always a bit chubby, just not fat til then)... But I would say a lot has to do with genetics, food intake, and activity level, and I believe the band is a great tool to reverse the genetics, but you are still responsible for the other 2 factors. Air conditioning as a cause? HA... they are trying to get us in every way possible making up excuses for our country-- when the writers of these articles, and the politicians are all also overweight. makes you think they'll make anything into a reason why america is so fat.
