  1. I also ate Miso soup and Wonton soup... broths that is. That helped make some variety. That was the hardest stage!!! Hang tight, it will pass!
  2. I love spaghetti sauce with some ricotta cheese, refriend Beans with some LF sour cream, egg salad, oatmeal. That's all I've liked so far. I tried pureeing chicken once, it wasn't pretty!

    Should I be suspicious?

Without proof it's hard, but I DEFINITELY think you need to bring to your husband's attention his BOUNDARIES. Apparently he needs a recap of what is acceptable when you are a married man. You don't text message single women, young or old, when you are married. And let him know that this action is making you uncomfortable and possibly the girl's mother too... (she is bringing it up for some reason) I've come from a marriage of cheating, and I'm sorry to say, once a cheater........ even if they take time off... But until there is definite proof, at least let him know how you feel and put the shoe on the other foot. There are boundaries/rules that should be understood when you're married. Hope all turns out ok.
  4. yay for you..... my solid day is saturday!!! t-6 days!!

Did you tell everyone or no?

IMO.... he's insecure that you're leaving him behind. When two people are chunky together... and eating together is usually a common bond, there is a comfort there. You are leaving the pack and now he will still be the chunky one, and you're gonna be the skinny one. And..... there is a lot of insecuritites that once you get thin, you may move on. Not saying you will, but it definitely is something that goes on in their mind. But I think it's more of you leaving the 'club'..

    Please Give me Advice!!!!!

maybe it's your cooking?? ok, bad joke... before you go on a vacation, that I'm sure you have spent $$ on and don't want ruined, i would call your dr. and have your fill analyzed. maybe there is just a little to much... i haven't had a fill yet but my brother has the band too and they have over filled and had to take a little out. whenever in doubt, call your dr. that's what he is there for.

    On my way!!!

I just started my 'mushy' stage. A little early, my Dr. wants me on liquids for 3 weeks... but my sanity says otherwise.. I have started having cream of wheat, purreed refried Beans, and egg salad. I've been amazed at how little I need and how LONG I stay full!! My mind on the other hand wants to go back to bad habits. I start thinking about what I am gonna eat next, and then my stomach has to remind me that I am not hungry yet. So weird! I also have to retrain my mind that just because its noon, I don't have to eat if I don't need to. I was raised by 'the clock' when it comes to meals. dinner was always on the table by 6, come hell or high Water. I also found some great after WLS cookbooks on amazon that have all the stages. You may want to look into that. I haven't cooked anything yet, but I am looking forward to it.

Did you tell everyone or no?

I've told anyone that would stand still. SERIOUS! On Mother's day I was telling the buffet lady. "pile it on, I'm having surgery in a few weeks!"... my mother could have died! I don't like to hide anything. I wear all my emotions on my sleeve. I do suffer from TMI syndrome too. Basically it comes down to who you really want to know. On the day of my surgery, there were twins sisters there that hadn't told a soul besides their significants. I can't imagine that. But to each his own. It's all up to you and who you're comfortable with knowing about it. PS~ I must say my ex hubby does NOT know... none of his damn biz.... and I wanna surprise him one day looking damn good.. know what I mean??

    3 days to go!!!

I brought mine to the clinic with me. They had me walking within an hour after surgery so it was bad right after. But a couple days into recovery, I could feel it!! For me it was a STRONG pain in my left shoulder. And the gas-x strips definitely helped! I also had a bad reaction later on and had 24 hr. nausea that lasted for 6 days! But once I took a Rx for it, I was fine. But during those days I had a hard time with any liquids. The nautiousness made everything smell horrible. Needless to say, I can't bear to smell broths now. And I am only 2 weeks out. My Dr. has me on liquids for 3 straight weeks, but it's not working for me. I've added a few mushies here and there so I can keep my sanity. And anyone that reads this, please don't PM with criticism.... But all in all, I am doing ok. My reaction was a rarity!!!

    3 days to go!!!

If youre Dr has you on liquids pre surgery then you should be able to do Protein shakes within that regimen. Bring gas-x strips if you can, they can be a big help! Good luck!!!! see you on the other side!

    Do you use a straw?

i just recently started using one again. i am 14 days out from surgery. the first time i used one i thought my chest was gonna explode. but i just can't drink without one, esp in the car! so i've just been adapting to it and now it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

I'm gonna be one of them!! up to 206 and I am still on Liquids... WTH??? but i knew it was gonna come.
  14. On one of my 'last meals' pre-surgery I told my waitress (who knew me well) about my upcoming surgery. And she asked, "Are you gonna be one of the those people that has a Dr.'s note to order from the kid's menu?" and I replied, "Yeah I guess" and she then told me that the restaurant doesn't honor them. And when you think about it, I understand. It's not the restaurants fault that I had surgery. Why should they take a cut in income because of my lifestyle change? I can always take home the left overs. But on the other side, I was informed by a fellow bander that it is discrimination. So, be prepared to be declined. I got mine when I was discharged and haven't needed it yet.. Still on liquids. But I know I'll try it, but if they turn me down, I won't be upset about it. But I'll definitely remember the restaurants that did honor it!!!

    post -op diet ?

I am on day 12 of my 21 day LIQUID diet... and no mushies. Straight on to solids. I am on the other side of the inquiry. Why so much liquid and why I am I not allowed mushies?? Every Dr. has different beliefs I am coming to find out. Be happy you can move on.. 12 days of liquid soups.... I'm starting to go MAD!!!

    Full.... And it feels GREAT

you all are so lucky! i am on liquids for 3 weeks after surgery then straight to solids... i don't get it!!! and i am DONE with soups!! uggh!! i've moved on to pureed spaghetti sauce. i had to have something ELSE!!
  17. the first 6 days after my surgery i was nautious 24/7. like morning sickness ALL DAY. i got a Rx for Zofran (Anti-nausea) and BAM, all better. I am still on full liquids, 11 days out. And am feeling much better. Heading back to work tomorrow since surgery. Ask your Dr. about Rx's for nausea. It's not uncommon for some of us to have such dramatic reactions..

    Full.... And it feels GREAT

Hey Sarah, I am really surprised you are already on oatmeal. I was banded the day after you and I am not supposed to have musies for at least 3 WEEKS! UGGH!! June 12th to be exact, but whose counting? I'm on creamy Soups, Protein drinks (which I HATE) and I did sneak in a pudding cup today... I figured if there aren't any 'obstacles' I should be ok. I am STARVING for real food. It always boggles me how there are so many varieties of diets post op.... you'd think they'd all be the same, ya know?

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?

Things are going much better over here! Actually got to go out to a party last night. but it was HARD not being able to eat! they had a nacho bar, so i had some of the creamy nacho cheese sauce and just licked it off a spoon. pathetic i know! but i too am DONE with soups! I am not supposed to have mushies till june 12th, i seriously don't know if i can hold out till then. I find it SO weird how so many Dr's have different suggestions. BURNIEGAL: when are you 'allowed' to have mushies?
  21. i hear you on the eggs!! the countdown has already begun for me! eggs for breakfast and then a bean & cheese cup from del taco for lunch! the cravings have already begun. that's gonna be my reward for these 3 weeks of HELL!! and seriously, it's been HELL for me! I got Rx for nausea and today is the 1st day i've actually felt decent! ttys!

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?

today was the 1st day of 7 that i am actually doing well!! i was prescribed some anti nausea Rx and what a difference a little pill makes!! i have also started taking some metamucil capsules which REALLY help with the hunger pangs. i've moved on to creamy soups but have learned it's best to make them, blend and strain and then let them rest for a bit. they were coming out way too frothy, it was disgusting. but i just finished some decent split pea that was 'relaxed' and i am satisfied. i can't wait till i get to the mush stage! SERIOUS!!!
  23. It's a day by day thing. I realized I get severe gas after sitting in my reclyner chair. Which leads to EXTREME nausea. If I keep walking it seems to pass. The thought of broths makes me naustious as well. It seriously is not a win-win situation over here. Luckily my docs have been very accessible and talk me thru it. Was on the phone with Dr. Martinez last night at 930 last night cuz the nausea was BAD! I am so scared to have something bad happen to the band. I hope I can survive this phase as well as past patients have!

    No more broth!!!!!!

I am on day 5 and the thought of broth makes me nauseous! SERIOUS! I am woozy at the sight of it! I have bad gas, sick to my stomach feelings. Sucking down gas-x strips, and feel light headed. Have dranken some juice to keep my blood sugar up but this is horrible! My body wants to keep burping which I know is a no-no. And my body wants to go into that hacking cough you get before you vomit! Any recommendations, feel free... I am MISERABLE! 3 weeks of broth is going to be pure HELL!
