    8/7/09 In the Zone?

Great post BG. I was like you with the tacos - unbelievable. I rarely think about food now which is a major milestone for me. Isn't it weird?

    Food

OK Bashful, my friend. You've caught Hot Greg's eye with your awesome accounting skills. Now you've got to reel him in. Ask him out already!!!! Don't make me call him and ask him for you, because I will. I will hunt him down for you!
  6. Hi Kathy - any ideas on why you do ok the first few days after a fill but then get stuck later? I was able to eat a small amount of pasta salad tonight - chewing it to mush. When did you start having trouble?

First Fill - Not So Bad

I had my first fill this morning - 2cc. I 'm not sure how much my band holds but it was completly empty. She said she takes all the fluid out after priming during surgery. She had me lift my legs off the stretcher about 2 inches and put my arms above my head, and my little port just stuck right out like it knew it was supposed to. She prepped me with Betadine, stuck the needle in, pulled out the air and injected 2cc of saline. I only felt a small stick and didn't even know she was through. she is great! She doesn't do the flouroscopy in the office, so we made sure I could swallow water, which I could. Now back at work and just ate some broth off a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle SOup and it went down fine. So, now liquids for 2 days. I really needed to have a fill because I've been hungry - not just head hunger. I could eat almost anything (except bread and dry meat). So, hopefully, this will jump start some real weight loss. Although I've lost 32 total since June 3 when starting the preop diet, I've only lost 12 since surgery on June 29. Nothing new with my mom. Getting the brain radiation. Today was Day 8 of 19. Thanks to all for caring. Have a great day. Lunch break's over - back to work. Schedule your mammograms if you haven't already done so.
  8. Hi Kathy - my little band buddy - How are you? Had my first fill today and did ok so far. Hope you are doing well.

  9. Congrats on the terrific weight loss. I would be totally happy to be at 189 right now. We were at the same weight to start with. I love Mary Kay also - I've used it forever. My sister in law is Anne Harris from Texas - I'll have to get her to get me the sugar scrub. Hope all is well with you. I had my very first fill today!!

    Tomorrow is the day!

By the time you read this, you will probably be out of surgery and starting your new journey. We were all nervous. It's time to think positive. You can absolutely do this! If I can, anyone can. Trust me. Congratulations, and I'm thinking about you.

    Gotta FIND my POSITIVE PATTY!

Could it be that the "dog days" of summer are getting you down? I know when the new school year starts (but I'm not a teacher), it has always felt like a fresh start to the year for me. Maybe that will be your motivation - make the school year your fresh start. Plan your menus and your snacks; research lower calorie sweets for your sweet tooth - I have those cravings too. I think we have all had a major lifestyle change and it's hard to adjust and find that mojo. And for me, it's harder at 50 than it would have been when I was younger. Keep smiling on the outside and you'll feel it on the inside.

    Second fill today- gurgles!! Gurgling!

I've been getting the "McGurgles" since about the time I woke up from surgery. Sometimes it can get very embarrassing, can't it?

    Enjoying Lower Calorie Summer Cocktails

Good to know. I've been a little scared to try alcohol. I have a friend who was banded several years ago. Let's just say the first time she drank, it involved the police. Anyone have any problems with the band and alcohol?

Day four of pre-op liquid diet

Sounds like you are ready. The mental preparedness is very important to your success and it sounds like you're there. We all wish you well - the pre-op phase is all a distant memory for me now as it will be for you. I am 5 weeks post-op today. Keep up the good work, and I'll look forward to your blogs.
