Us Junebies must be connected. All of the problems you all are reporting having are just what I have been feeling for the past couple of weeks! I was doing great, losing weight, dilligently recording my meals on sparkpeople.com, doing those extra steps to get in the exercise, drinking my water, and being very positive with myself. Now not so much. My internet was down for a couple of days, I didn't record my eating, couldn't come on LBT, and let myself go! Ever since then I have been eating all the wrong foods, drinking less, and have been very down about this whole thing. I've discovered that I can eat way too much. I need a kick in the butt! I think what is really bad for my cause is that I havn't PB'd for a while because I havn't been eating my hard protein that fills me up. I'm enjoying not PB'ing. I really appreciate all of the advice that you all are posting. I called for a second fill this morning and going to the grocery store to get my fish and other proteins. I need to get back on track! </TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

What a difference in such a short time Leila! Congrats! I agree with the food tracking. I use sparkpeople.com and am addicted to it. It really keeps me in line, even more than the weekly weigh in at Weight Watchers! It feels good to be holding myself accountable for my eating. If I go overboard early in the day, I compensate later by eating less. For my weight, activity, and goal date, it recommends between 1300 and 1550 calories a day. I've lost 16 lbs since joining in it in July and there has only been a few days that I have gone over calories, carbs, and fat. I'm usually at 1400 calories a day. I don't think that I could have done this without tracking my eating. It amazes me how many calories, carbs, and fat grams the good tasting foods have. I don't work out regularly or even walk for that matter. I have a very physical job and that must be enough activity for me to lose. Working midnights doesn't help because I am "just waking up" about 3 times a day. Eating Protein becomes a challenge because I seem to be tight when I first get up. My worst temptation during the day is macaroni and cheese with the kids for lunch because it seems to go down easy any time for me as long as I chew well. I've only gotten one fill and am not restricted much at all. I'm almost afraid to get another one. I think I've gotten too comfortable with the band not challenging me. I can feel my resolve slipping away though. Scheduling the time (he wants me to stay in Cincinatti overnight) and money from the budget is what I need to work on now. I hope we all get to a point where we are comfortable with the band in our bodies. Maybe it just takes time and a few fills to get to that point. </TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I have a weight loss Christmas Wish as well as a "mental" goal. I want to lose 25-30 lbs by Christmas and have enough nerve to attend my DH's company Christmas party. I have made excuses for years because I was self-conscious about my weight. I wish for courage to shock my DH and arrange to have that night off!

Thank You Texas Princess! I received your gift over the weekend! I got a variety of 'chillin out' stuff including some bath gel, soap, and lotion, a candle to enjoy my bath with, a beautiful vase, and a pocketbook to store all of my earnings! I'm not talented enough to post pictures yet, but I'm working on it! PS: My gift is on it's way north of the Canandian border, sent it on Thursday!

I'm so excited that I was able to get a size 22 instead of 24-26. My work jeans were getting so loose and I was feeling self consious about them. Whenever I walk by a mirror I have to do a double take, I am just shocked that it is me in those jeans.:clap2: My biggest surprise was how much I don't like the styles out there. I don't go out and dress up alot, mostly jeans and t shirts because of work. All of the jeans were boot cut, stretchy, and/or low rise. Low rise on me means that every thing sticks out of the top. No thank you. Very few classic cut jeans out there. Not even at Levis.com. Any hints? My DH and boys tell me that I am just out of touch with the new styles. I guess that I have a lot to learn..and shop! Have a great week everyone! </TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I'm new,will be banded Sept 3rd
tribon replied to Mario Thailand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Mario Thailand! You have come to a good place for support and expertise! You will do great and try not to worry, you are taking a big step in the right direction! I was banded on June 26 and I have to say, I Love My Band! It takes more will power and control than I had envisioned but I feel really good that I am in control, with the help of the band. I was wondering how much the surgery was in Thailand. My mother in law was upset that I chose Mexico instead of Bankok because she is from Thailand originally! I think she just wanted an excuse to go home for a couple of weeks! Keep us posted on your progress and Happy Birthday! Tricia -
All five of my boys are going to school this year! I will have 4 hours a week to myself. Hmm, what will I do? Probably sleep, I work midnights! I have one starting pre-school, one starting kindergarten, and one starting high school. A big year for three of them! The other two aren't very excited, same old school and all. Will post pics next week when my preschooler starts!

He made the comment about getting more attention from men. Since I work with alot of men who don't talk to me or even look at me unless I directly ask them a question (always work related), I was wondering why. I asked him why some guys don't even look at big girls, let alone talk or flirt. He said that some guys are afraid that if they look at, talk to, or give any attention to big girls, the big girls will jump at the "opportunity" and start flirting and ask them out. He said that the shallow guys avoid big girls altogether to prevent this. I was offended. I am happily married with 5 kids and have no interest in any other man. I wouldn't dream of asking someone out, even when I was single! </TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> -
Yep, he is the fill guru. I can offically say so as of today! I drove 270 miles to have him do my fill and as far as I'm concerned, worth every mile! My port isn't where my doctor put it and is kind of floating around. The Dr. C found it and filled it with relatively little pain and without xray! His staff is very nice (some banded themselves) and I felt more comfortable there than any other Dr's office. Give him a try!

I got my first fill today! I drove 270 miles to go to Dr. Curry in Cincinnati. He put in 1.4 cc's in my 4 cc band. It really hurt at first because I have a flipped port! He said the sutures must have popped loose and my port is just kind of floating. The doctor finally manipulated the port to the needle (ouch!). The access site on the port is facing up towards my head! The good news is that I lost 3 lbs from my last Dr. appointment 2 weeks ago! I'm surprised because I have been sneaking sweets again. Not to the degree that I used to by far but, with me, it only takes a couple of bites and I'm hooked again. Good luck to all in the Christmas Challenge! I'm going to concentrate on getting more exercise this week and bringing a snack in the car so that I don't talk myself into stopping on the way home from work for breakfast (I work midnights).

I went on Spark People.com. I entered my weight, goals, ect. and they recommended 1450-1600 a day for me. Try it, it might help. I
-
I'm so addicted to the Spark People website! I initally went there because I thought that I was too low on my food intake. That HAD to be the reason I wasn't losing lately. Boy was I wrong! I honestly didn't realize how many calories, fat, etc were in some foods! Needless to say, I go on as often as possible to track my food. I hope this will help. I haven't had my first fill yet and I get soooo hungry sometimes. I think a weekly weigh in is good but not a weekly loss requirement for the Christmas challenge. I'm in!

Can You Slip an Unfilled/Never-Been-Filled Band???
tribon replied to danaclark2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm soooo excited for you! I too cried and cried when I found out that I was pregnant the last time. I found out the day after my husband has his vasectomy! I cried because, besides already having 4 boys, I was looking forward to WLS and I knew it wasn't going to happen for a while. We decided that it was divine intervention and that it just wasn't my time for the band. My boy number 5 is the light of my life and I can't imagine life without him! Good luck and enjoy! -
Fills with Dr. Steven Clark, Indianapolis
tribon replied to judyann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd like to know too, as I have been looking for a doctor in Indiana to do my fills. I've emailed and called about 15 doctors and either I didn't get a response or was told they don't work on Mexican banded patients. I'm getting frustrated. Dr. C (who posts on this site) is in Cincinatti, he is my next option. -

What have you not done b/c of your weight?

I kept telling myself that "next year at this time I wont look like this" and next year has always been the same or worse. I have been obese since I was 10. The thought that I have missed alot in life because of my weight has been depressing me more and more in the past 5 years. I don't go to amusement parks or water parks because everyone wonders why I wont participate. I stopped after my son and I waited in line for a ride for an hour only to be told that I was too big and had to leave the ride. I don't go to my DH's holiday parties at work. I've never even met his coworkers of 6 years. I don't go to the mall because I get too depressed that I can't wear most of the clothes they offer. I despise and avoid airplanes because too often the seatbelt doesn't fit and I have to "fake it" until the attendant walks by and my lower body will squeeze in the seat but my upper body takes over more that my share. I won't let my boys' friends over when I'm in the pool. I'm embarrassed for them. Now that I have the band, my thought processes are changing. I'm actually considering DH's Christmas party...maybe. I'm already planning next summer. I have 5 active boys who are contstantly begging me to go with them to the water park. :clap2: I'm thinking SEASON TICKETS for Christmas presents (mine too!).:clap2: </TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> -
The border guard that saw us didn't look at anything! He asked me if I just left the clinic, how I liked Mexico, if I saw anything promising for me, and if I was crazy enough to go back! Apparently my answers were acceptable! He said "take care of yourself" and waved goodbye! T

If you guys are cheating or damaging your band than what am I doing? My doctor said all liquids (broth, Water, juice) for the first 4 days and then and I quote from my handout liquid diet for first 2 weeks: "same as above, 'blenderized Soup, skim milk, suger free Jello, popsicles, mashed potatoes, light yogurt, suger-free pudding, cottage cheese, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, no sugar added apple sauce.' Protein supplements for 3 of 6 meals." Soft diet for weeks 3-6: "soft fruit, cooked veggies except corn, fish, seafood, soft Pasta (well chewed), eggs, toast or crackers.' Protein supplements for 2 of 6 meals." I've has most of the foods on the "liquid diet" list and I feel fine but am I damaging myself? I guess I have to trust the doctor.

Gas pains. Is it food?
tribon replied to FunnyDuddies's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was on a very light diet for the week before my surgery and liquids the entire day before. My gas was terrible! I couldn't even enjoy Mexico with my DH. The flight home took care of most of it though. I bet I could've help that plane stay in the air!:phanvan Just a little since touch down in Chicago on the 28th! -
I was banded 3 days ago and the first two days were miserable because of all the gas inside. I left Mexico in pain, but when the plane started to climb in the air my air started escaping (burping and otherwise) and felt alot better by the time I got back to Chicago! My doctor back home said the pressure affected the gas in my tummy, not the band. Yeah!

Sunnybitrider: How was your appt with the doctor? Who did you see? I'm still looking for a closer fill doctor. I'm in Brown County often (my parents live there) and your area would be better than downtown Chicago!

christa94 What doctor are you scheduled with? Please let me know. I am supposed to be there on June 26. I didn't know it was the Molding Clinic because the doctor that is doing my surgery is listed under Cosmetic Surgery Center. The coordinator told me it was Molding Clinic yesterday.

You'll be in my prayers for your band in 2 days! Mine is in 8 days and I am also getting jittery. I try not to dwell on the problems section. The before and after pics make me feel better. I never realized the importance of a pre surgery diet either. I am going to start liquids too! Good luck and be strong!
