Hi Michelle, I'm on my pre-op diet too. I can have 2 meals under 300cal and 3 Slim Fast. The first 4 days was hard. I drank a lot of Water and went to bed early. I am on day 7 and it has gotten easier. Just hang in there. You can do this! :smile: When is your surgery? I'm June 1st at 1:30pm.

Hi Quincygirl, I have surgery date of June 1st too. I see my surgeon on Tuesday, May 19th for my pre-op diet. I hope that I can have some real food too. You are lucky. LOL. Have you jointed June 2009 group yet?

Hi, My surgeon did push very hard for me to do the bypass also. I just said, the lap band or nothing! My weight is 364 and I am 5'6". My surgery date is June 1, 2009. :eek: Good luck!!:glare:

I am self pay. My spouse's insurance has a written exclusion. Anthem approved me but, my spouse's company who is self funded denied me with no appeal on exclusions! I canceled cable TV ($78.00), newspaper ($20.00), and home phone ($55.00). I brown bag my lunch and make my coffee at home. I was devastated when Anthem told me that my pre-approval was worthless. It has taken me three years. I hope you find a way because, you are worth it. Just hang in there:thumbup:

The same thing happened to me. There is no appeals with a written exclusion. I was told several time there was no written exclusion but, there is. Now, all I get is I'm so sorry. I refinanced my house to pay for the lap band. I no long have cable tv,a daily newspaper, a home phone, or I no long go anywhere that involves money. I am worth it!!! Good luck:thumbs_up:

Hi, Lapbandgirl and momstero thanks for support. I was having a bad day of self doubt. Wow, 18lbs and 119lbs are huge accomplishments. I know exercise will be hard at first but, like you said lapbandgirl start with small steps. I can't hardly walk and I have a lot pain in my knee. I am hoping that losing weight will help.

Hi Sweetbean, I went to Dr. Curry seminar in Cincinnati the self pay price is $13, 000 and includes fills for the first year. I decided to go Dr. Mujeeb Siddiqui at Miami Valley Hospital ($17,000) because, Dr. Curry does his surgeries at his own office/surgical center. If they are any complications they would have to call 911 then transport you to the hospital.

Hi, I have Anthem and faxed 65 pages of documentation and got appoved in 15 days. My surgery is schedule June 1st. Yesterday I found out from my doctor's office that even enough Anthem approved me my husband's company has an exclusion. NO bariatric surgery of any kind or reason. Now, I am self pay ($17,000) and very much in debt for the next 20 years. I think that I am worth it so, I am going for it. My BMI is 58 and I weight 356. I need this for my family and I with or without insurance. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi, I'm from Ohio and I am going to banded June 1st. I am also very nervous and excited.

I have BC/BS and my husband's policy had a written exclusion for weight loss surgery. I copied all of my records which included cancel checks for Weight Watchers, gym memberships, exercise equipment, ect.. I faxed all (65 pages) the info to pre Cerification and was approved in 20 days. I have surgery date of June 1st. Good Luck!:laugh:
