Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
Richardson replied to Dreamjeans's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok well sleep is Good.. this means you need it and is probably the aneasthetic wearing off.. True everyone reacts differently, its hard when you are not well and on your own. Hope you are feeling a little more refreshed, Peppermint tea s good for indigestion. Alka Zeltzer for PAIN is marvellous because of the Bi Carb in it... I use these for pain relief, and to settle an upset tummy as they are effervecsent. dissolvable before hand.. so the GUT does not have to do it. Will get better keep reading the POSTS it gives you an idea on how to deal with it... My turn on Friday all the very Best!!! Dawn xx:huh2: -

Are you at Home now? where is your Pain is probably COLIC (wind).. in the shoulder area, try to keep moving it will reduce and get better!.Try some Magnesium and Peppermint which will ease the GUT... You should have someone available you can speak to from the Hospital.. Where are you from .. UK or US ? Apparently the surgeons blow AIR into the Diaphram to allow more space to do the Op internally. Make sure you take your Pain killers every 4 Hours and drinks fluids every Half hour or suck Ice... Dawn xx:sad: -

Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Richardson replied to TXAmy07's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well as its Glue it is more than likely it's semipermeable and more Water friendly than Sutures or Staples.. However from experience with dressing wounds I would vouch to keep the wound as dry as possible this would help the healing process and be subject less infections. -

Hi Sufee I have my band in 8 days time and am apprehensive to.. Just think of the end result how much better it will make you feel about yourself in the long run. The op itself is only about 45 mins and is keyhole surgery so its not like a major Op, some of the banders are having gallbladders removed as well in the USA. Woundcare.. Keep the wounds covered don't get them wet and if you have steristrips leave them till they start to curl up then take them off.. you can do that as long as the wound is dry. then put a dry dressing of mefix Patches to help avoid rubbing from your clothes... make sure you are not allergic these dressings otherwise use mepore tape and gauze Squares. Best of Luck !!!:mad2: -
Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Richardson replied to TXAmy07's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi John I guess it makes sense to do it all in one foul swoop... Cosmetic surgery would only be done under certain circumstances here in the Uk as a Gastic Band is done mainly for that puropose.. Gallbladder comes under major Surgery under the NHS. Best of Luck to You ..you will be feeling so much better after all that! Wounds will be fine yep keep them Dry:thumbup:... Dawnx -

Yes You can do a sort of patch Test first... Hmmmmmm I would be very suprised if the Doc does a Cholesystectomy ( Gallbladder Op )at the same time ... but they may do things differently in the USA as you are having an Op anyway.. HERE in the Uk they wouldn't do that... Good Luck to You.. Will be a Low Fat Diet for you then !!! Cheers Dawnx:thumbup: -
