  1. Hey y'all - I am in the pre-surgery phase, too. I go for the psych eval on Wednesday, and then we can submit everything to my insurance for approval. I can't wait to have a surgery date! I look forward to following your stories and wish you all the best!
  2. It's Ricky's 1st night in his new bunk bed...he's in the top bunk...praying he doesn't fall out of it...nervous mommy.

  3. Happy 33rd Birthday skinigrl2b!

  4. Happy 32nd Birthday skinigrl2b!

  5. thanks y'all - I feel really good about this procedure. I want to get healthier so that I can have another child - that's my main motivation at the moment. I just feel alot of pressure (self-inflicted) to get this done soon. I wish I could find a way to pay for it!
  6. hi all - I found this site through lapbandtalk.com - I'm really considering plication and wondered if anyone knows if it's safe to get pregnant after having the plication?? I can find info on the subject under the lap band sites, but can't find anything under plication. thanks!

    Fundraising...ok or not ok?

thanks everyone for your responses. While it may be good for some to go the fundraising route - I just don't think I could do it for the entire amount....maybe if I received a grant and only had to raise a portion. good luck to all still searching for a way to have this procedure done...I'm not any closer...my insurance has an exclusion w/ no appeal possibility
  8. Hi guys, I wandered over to the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America's page to read up about their new grant program for WLS last night - and saw that they ask the recipients of the grants raise a certain amount of money for the foundation. The site one of the recipients is using to raise her funds is giveforward.com Here's my question - would anyone consider using this site to raise the funds for the WLS procedure? Is it selfish to do that, when there are people on the site raising money for kidney transplants, etc? Opinions?

i think i'm gonna do this!

I'm really considering the lap-band, too. unfortunately, like many, my insurance does not cover the procedure...so I'm going to be self-pay. I've been approved for enough financing to go to Mexico, and I really want to - I just can't decide if I want to take on the debt. It seems like the debt + the challenge of developing a new life style would be so stressful. Anyone have any words of wisdom? thanks! Amanda
  10. What the heck? Any tips out there? If the employer chose to exclude the WLS, is there ANY way to get that overruled?

    Insurance coverage -Georgia

I've come across the same exact thing. The insurance company is required to offer the coverage, but the employer buying the policy, is not required to choose it as part of the plan. My insurance is through my husband's employer, one of the largest dialysis companies in the world, and they exclude any kind of weight loss programs-pills, surgery, nutritionist visits...etc. It really sucks - especially when weight loss could help prevent alot of health problems. It seems like common sense to us, too bad the big guys at the top don't see it that way.

$500 Off Coupons for True Results

I've just applied for financing for True Results - I would love one of those coupons if you still have any available!
  13. hey gals - at least we know someone is trying to help...but until the employers are required to choose it and offer it to employees we'll still be at their mercy. Dreamer- no worries- I am glad to know about that law. Good luck to us all! We'll get there eventually!!
  14. That's an interesting link - thank you for sharing. I live in GA, and got a bit excited when I started to read this. My concern is this: even though the insurance company is required to offer the coverage, does the company (aka my employer) have to elect to purchase the coverage? My employer's plan specifically excludes WLS of any kind, so I'm assuming that it's still ultimately up to the plan administrator whether to offer it to employees or not.

Cost for banding in Atlanta, GA

Hi - I'll be 100% self pay, too. I've decided to skip using an Atlanta dr. and go with lapband of the rockies...they're much more affordable and the follow up visits are only like $15....check them out and good luck!
