    Happy bandaversary !! - thoughts/comments

Well today is my bandiversary. I'm down officially, 81.5 lbs. I'm happy, but it wasn't the goal I wanted to meet for my one year. This past year has been so difficult in so many ways. I feel as though I've really struggled with the band, but all in all, I've been successful. Since then, so much has changed. I moved to another state, moved in with my boyfriend, am far away from my family and friends, was hospitalized for a week, etc. It's been really trying but also great in many ways. I wouldn't change anything that has gone on in my life since May 20, 2009. I am healthier and happier and love life again. Happy bandiversary to everyone.

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Down one pound this week...Which is good, but my weight loss is really stalling these last couple months...I'm still losing, but very slowly. Oh well, at least it's still going down, not up. Good luck everyone!

  9. Hey linda, just checking in to see how you are doing!

  10. Ok, so I haven't flown since 1999. I am scared to death of flying. However, I'm flying to Illinois on Saturday, and I'm already nervous enough, but I was wondering if anyone ever had any problems flying with the band? I know the band doesn't contain metal, but I read a thread from over 2 years ago that someone said their port area set set off the detector. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm already nervous, don't want to worry about this as well!

  12. Just wondering if anyone was out there in Downers Grove or the surrounding areas? I am moving there in 6 months. I was banded May 2009 and will need to find a good surgeon to continue my followup. Any help would be really appreciated. THANKS!

    Easy way out?

it is not a cop out! This is the hardest I've worked for anything in my entire life. It is not easy at all. it really angers me when people assume that we take the easy way out by having surgery, they have no idea how hard it is for all of us!

Help! No loss since July...& now gaining...

No problem Jennifer! That tilapia sounds delicious. Oh and the protein bars I like are the Zone Perfect, the chocolate Peanut Butter. They are 210 cals, 7g of fat, 24 carbs, and 14g protein. A little high in the cal/carbs, but worth it. I have one every morning, and have done that since surgery. They really keep me going!:smile2:

Help! No loss since July...& now gaining...

Jennifer, I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I know how difficult it is to lose the weight and really work at it. As for foods, I've found seafood and fish to be my best friend because of all the Protein. During the week, I have fish or seafood every single night for dinner. For lunch, I eat tuna or a turkey wrap that I make at home, something like that can have alot of protein, which is what you need the most. Just get some lunchmeat (low fat) some low fat cheese, and anything else you like and throw it in a low carb tortilla. It tastes good and really helps you stay full because of the protein. I don't have a sweet spot either, and feel like I can eat alot, but it's all about self control. Other things I found that work for me are string cheese, chili from Wendy's, Protein Bars. Stuff like that. chicken is also great for protein, I make salads with chicken quite a bit. It's all about finding what works for you and keeps you satisfied, but try to focus on the protein. That's what you need most at this point to help you with the loss. BEST OF LUCK!
