    Pita bread?!?!?

I was banded a week ago and had my followup appt and on my next stage sheet, I was surprised to see that my doctor said that pita bread was ok to have. Now I knew we could have crackers and toast in moderation, but pita bread? If this is true, I'm thrilled. I'm part Arabic and pita bread is a huge part of diet. I know I wouldn't be able to eat it like I used to, but to even have it once in awhile is awesome. So, has anyone else been told that pita bread is ok?

    Getting back in the sack...

Hey there, I can feel my port right under my skin as well. Right now I'm a bit obsessed with it. I look at it alot because it freaks me out. I really hope it's just swollen and won't continue to be this bump on my stomach forever! Anyway, I haven't had sex since being banded and won't until July when I see my boyfriend, so hopefully by then it won't be a problem! Good luck in your sexcapades. lol.

Does Anyone Else Have This Problem??!!

I did that on my pre op diet. It got so bad, that when I had my surgery last week, I asked my sister to hide my scale from me until Monday mornings. That's when I will weigh myself from now on. Otherwise, I'd be on it every hour!

Messed Up, No Excusses, Ate Wrong Food, Moving On!

I feel the same way Julie! It's so great to come here and have other people who are going through the exact same thing. It's comforting! We all need to stick together and continue to share our journeys on here!

Messed Up, No Excusses, Ate Wrong Food, Moving On!

Hey Julie, I just want to say that I am so sorry about your nephew and your sister. I hope everyone is ok. And don't even think twice about those couple of bites of food, you realize what you've done and you've moved on. No one is perfect and we all mess up sometimes! I'm 7 days post op, haven't slipped up, but that doesn't mean I won't somewhere down the line. Hopefully I don't but we're only human and we can only do the best we can. Continue to stay on track and everything will be fine! Congrats!

    Sticking together

johnsonsnickers, good luck tomorrow! It will be fine! And I agree, the Banditos are the best. You guys have all been really nice and helpful!

What food stage are you at? What are you eating?

Thanks for the replies guys! Scorpio, when were you banded? I cannot wait to even eat mashed potatoes, which is my next stage, which I hope I cleared for tomorrow when I go see my doctor for followup!
  10. Ok so my post op paperwork says to take a laxative 3 tabs orally if no bm for 2 days after surgery. Well my mom got me those, but I am scared to try taking them, because I haven't had any pills unless they are crushed, and you can't crush these. I'm hesitant to call my doc to see if it's ok, because I've already called a couple of times about other stuff. Did anyone have to take laxatives to go to the bathroom? If so, is it ok to swallow them whole? Thanks.
  11. Hi Mary Anne, I'm Carrie, nice to meet you. I know it can get frustrating with all the waiting, but trust me it will be worth it! I say just be patient, continue to work out, {I am afraid of the arm fat too} and try to watch what you eat, so the pre op diet won't be too much of a shock on your body. Post op is pretty difficult so far, but I am only 4 days post op. I mean, I can't complain really because I haven't had any complications, knock wood. Just some gas discomfort and port site pain, but it's worth it because it will be over soon. Just hang in there, and if you need anything, let me know!

  12. Wow, 50 that's awesome! You should be so proud of yourself. I bet you feel great already. Did you have a nice time with your mom?

I actually slept on my side for part of the night last night, the most sleep I've gotten in days! And I have alot more energy today. I am getting through the weekend pretty well. Today will be the true test because my parents are bbqing steaks and having baked potatoes, while I'll be having blended soup. But that's ok, I go home after dinner tonight and it won't be as tempting! How about you? How do you handle it now when you can actually eat when people have bbq's and stuff?

    Ok so, sleeping....

Hey everyone! Just had surgery yesterday and today is my first day home. I tried to take a nap and was just unbelievably uncomfortable. Just wondering how long this lasted for all of you that have done it? I know it's normal to be sore, just want to get a rough estimate of when I should/will expect to sleep again, lol! Thanks.

    Ok so, sleeping....

thanks everyone for the responses. I am having lots of problems sleeping still. I slept in a recliner the first night and that was ok, last night tried to sleep laying on my back and that was fine, but I also have a pinched nerve that makes my thighs burn and tingle if I lay on my back to long. So with that, I'm miserable. I want to sleep on my side so badly, but the port site really hurts if I even try. I guess it'll be the chair again tonight, and maybe the couch tomorrow night. We shall see. Thanks everyone!
  16. Hey there! I hope you are having a great weekend at your moms! That sounds like fun! I was glued. I am feeling pretty good today, just some port site pain, but otherwise ok. Still not sleeping great, but I guess that's normal. I want to sleep on my side so bad but haven't been able to yet. I hope your weightloss is going well! How much have you lost now?

    May 20th Surgery Stories...

Thanks spidey mom! And Leanne, that's awesome that you were able to sleep in bed! I tried last night and was comfortable on my back, but I have a pinched nerve that acts up if I lay on my back for too long, it makes my thighs tingle and burn, so that kept me up. I am not able to sleep on my side yet, but am hoping to in the next couple days. Congrats on the weight loss! I haven't weighed myself since the day of surgery, but I will Monday, I just feel really bloated still with the gas, so I want to give it a couple days. I haven't been hungry either. I am going to try some blended soup today, I've only been having popsicles, jello, and broth so far. So I'm excited. How does your port site feel by the way? That is what is bothering me most now, when I get up and down. I read on here that some people have port pain for months, I hope that's not the case for me! I am doing the breathing thing as well. My goal is also 2500, I made it to 2000 today so I was excited. It's so nice to see someone else who had surgery the same day. I think we're progressing about the same! Congrats to us both!

    What pain is normal

nonny, my doctor said if I don't have a bowel movement within 2 days of surgery to take chewable duloclax laxatives. I have to do that today. Maybe go ahead and give something like that a try.

    May 20th Surgery Stories...

Hey Leeann, I had my surgery yesterday also! I was not able to go home the same day however, I got sent home today. Same problem as you though with laying down, WOW, talk about painful! I didn't get a nap in today and am wondering how I'll manage to sleep tonight, may have to sleep in the recliner. Anyway, yeah, you should talk to your doctor about your incisions. Didn't he/she notice them opening yesterday? I wish you the best of luck, and please let us know how it goes for you. I have the burping too, but it doesn't sound like as bad as yours, you poor thing. Hang in there!
  20. Oh no, that's awful! I'm so sorry to hear that. Did they say how long to expect before you can schedule? How truly frustrating for you...don't give up hope! My surgery was yesterday, home now and feel pretty good, a little sore, but that's normal! Otherwise, I feel good!

  21. Hey! Thanks for thinking of me! I was like you, was really nervous the morning of, but luckily, they took me at 8:30 am! So before I knew it, it was over. It went really well. I'm really pleased with everything so far. And my scars aren't even bad, and it's only one day post op! How are you doing this week? I do have a question for you, after surgery, and when you returned home, how long did it take before you were sleeping comfortably? I tried to take a nap today, but just could not get comfortable, my stomach muscles were aching badly! Just thought I'd ask your experience! Hope you are having a great week!

  22. Hi Teresa! Thanks for the nice message! I am home now from the hospital, and surgery went well! I am still sore, which is obviously to be expected, but otherwise feel great. I'm really happy so far that I made this decision! I know you will be too! How far along are you in the process? Have you had to go through evaluations and everything already? Let me know! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Great to meet you! :)

  23. Hey, Meredith, just checking to see if you set your surgery date yet?

  24. Good luck tomorrow! I understand your nervousness, I am being banded on Wednesday! I have been on the pre op diet for 2 weeks now too! Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  25. ok, so I am set to have surgery May 20th. I've been on the pre op diet for going on 11 days now. I've lost 9.5 pounds. I'm really frustrated. This past week, I've only lost 2 pounds and this morning when I stepped on the scale, I'd gained a half a pound. I'm following everything exactly as I should, but can't even stand to eat the same foods anymore, but I am. It's a struggle, but I'm doing it. I've been exercising every day as well and drinking my protein shakes. I know that my period is due in a few days and figure this is bloat from that, but has anyone gone through the same thing? Any suggestions or anything? I'm just feeling really down about it today and could use some reassurance. If you have any advice at all, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much.
