I just recently learned what a pb was as well, in fact, had my first one on Monday. Anyway, it's a productive burp. Basically, when you eat something and you feel like you have to burp and the food comes back up with the burp. I got mine from eating tunafish too fast! I just have to remember to eat slowly and take small bites!

Oh and refried beans are a HUGE help as well! Taste yummy and have lots of protein!
-
I am the same way, always ate things that were bad for me. But I'm getting used to it. I don't normally like yogurt either, but the taste has gotten better to me. It's a great source of Protein, so I try to get it down. I will let you know about the chicken. I'm actually having it like almost shredded, in very small pieces. My doc gave me the ok to try meat in other forms, so I'm excited but nervous! Oh, have you tried egg beaters? I find them to be so good, and they have no fat and so much protein! Give those a shot when you feel up to it, I just scramble them up and they are great!

I know, it's a conicidence, and a nice one at that! yes, lets keep in touch, and anytime you need to vent or talk, just message me, I'm online all day at work, so I always check this site! As for what I ate, basically alot of cream Soup and I will tell you that mashed potatoes have been my very best friend! Nothing has gone down better for me than those. I actually haven't tried any meat yet. Today at lunch will be my first time with chicken. I say maybe hold off on the meat until your stomach feels a little better. Yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, cream soup, and cottage cheese are what got me through the day!

Dang, 25 days in a row at the gym?!?!? Now that IS something to be proud of!

Wow, sounds like we have lots in common! I started surgery at 279.5 lbs and my goal weight is 140 also! I think that's a good idea, not weighing until your appt, that's what I did at first as well too! I'm sure you'll do great. You are so lucky to have the track so close to home, sounds like you are doing great with that! Keep up the good work! I'm going to send you a friend request on here so that way I can check in with ya and you can do the same!
-
Well it sounds like you are doing great! 18 pounds is alot. I know what you mean though, losing 5 here and then gaining it back. Never again for us! We're going to keep it off!

Oh congrats to your brother as well! That must be nice to have someone going through the same thing as you. Best of luck to you both! I am happy to help because I know how scared I was in the beginning as well. I don't mind questions at all. I am 30 years old and I'm from Michigan. How about you? As of Monday June 8th, I had lost 8 pounds since the day of surgery. I weigh myself every Monday morning. I know the weight isn't coming off fast right now, but I feel like I am losing and I can tell a difference already!

I was going to ask for a portion too but didn't want to draw attention either! I was SO nervous, but once I took it, I just kind of let it sit there in my mouth for awhile. But it did go down fine, so don't worry! I'm sure it'll be the same for you. I was so relieved once I took it. I hated not being able to the previous weeks. I was offered it in the hospital and wanted it desperately but the nurse said no. I can't wait for my first fill! I really really hope it helps! How are things going for you?!?
-
I completely understand. I'm still new at this too, only been 3 weeks, but I can tell you that it does go away. I didn't expect to feel that down after surgery either, so when it hit, it hit like a ton of bricks. I stayed with my parents for a few days after surgery and was just so miserable. I remember waking up and crying, not because I was in pain, but just depressed. My parents didn't know what to do with me. I just got mad and said I didn't want to do it anymore, but for some reason, I woke up the next couple of days feeling better each day. I also freaked about the foreign object in my body as well, especially since at first I could feel the port and it grossed me out! But then I thought, it's going to help me in the long run and after awhile I won't even remember it's there. I don't think we're going to do any harm to our bodies by having it in there. Tons of people get this done, and I think complications are pretty rare. Maybe talk to your surgeon about it at your next appt just to calm your nerves. I do plan on keeping the band, provided I don't have complications. I view the band as a permanent part of me now. Trust me, it'll get better. I promise! I was so in despair but I'm not kidding, it all sort of lifted after a few days.

What food stage are you at? What are you eating?
Carriedaway78 replied to Carriedaway78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm kind of in the same boat as you Sarah. I find that I don't get full very quickly. My first fill isn't until the 29th of this month. So right now, it's all about self control for me. I could easily finish things, but just try to eat half portions of the things I am eating, which like you, are very tiny servings. I had some egg beaters this morning, which they said was equivalent to one large egg, but I felt like I could've eaten way more! Hopefully when we go to our fills we will feel a little better. I also worry about stretching it, but I really don't think I'm eating more than I really should, so I don't worry too much. Best of luck at your appointment! -
Hi there, I was banded May 20th and took communion for the first time since surgery this past Sunday June 7th. I didn't have any problems with it at all!

Some things I need to know
Carriedaway78 replied to updegraff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through the same things after surgery. It's your body adjusting that's causing you to be sleepy. As for the gas, you can try gas x strips, I hear they work! My gas pains went away after about 3 or 4 days. As for the bowel movements, I had the same exact problem! I was always regular but didn't have one for about 3 days after. My doctor said to try duloclax tablets, they are very tiny. They did the trick. Now I'm not as regular, but at least don't need laxatives anymore since I introduced Fiber into my diet. Just give your doc a call and see if it's ok for you to try a laxative. Best of luck! -
Hi there. Well I was banded just a little over 3 weeks ago. I can tell you that it is common, what you are going through. I had the same thing go on with me shortly after surgery. I just felt miserable and even said "I wish I hadn't done this". But then all of a sudden it went away. I'm still a bit emotional from time to time, but have not questioned my decision at all since. Just try to keep your head up and remember that the way you are feeling is only temporary. If you need anything, this is a great site full of great people. Feel free to message me anytime. Hang in there.

I'm a loser
Carriedaway78 replied to thinneranniesoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to you! Don't you feel awesome? I was banded on May 20th and am loving my life even more already. You are also really lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive boyfriend because I've read some people on here have had problems with unsupportive spouses. Congrats again and keep up the good work! -
sleeping with the band? and a liquid question
Carriedaway78 replied to andy343858's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can sleep comfortably on your side, there shouldn't be an problems! I have slept on my side since day 2 post op because I have a pinched nerve that prevents me from sleeping on my back. My doc said it was fine! Best of luck to you!!! -
What online food tracking program do you use???
Carriedaway78 replied to pephlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use "my daily plate" at livestrong.com. I find it to be really helpful. -

Can I really do this? Nervous-Excited
Carriedaway78 replied to Tia1966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to you Tia, you are going to be really happy! To get myself prepared, I just kept looking at photos of myself. It really made me sad to see the way I looked and it kept me motivated to get healthy. Plus, my doc had me on a 2 week pre op Protein diet, and that helped because when I saw the pounds coming off with that, I was more motivated than ever. I am excited for you and wish you the best of luck. Let us know how it goes! :smile2: -
Mood Bleepin Swings!!!
Carriedaway78 replied to HBSurfPunk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's hormonal because let me tell you that I'm in the same boat! It's awful. It's gotten better the last couple of days, but last week, oh my lord, I was a heinous bitch, lol. But then I would get sad and cry. I definitely think it's hormones. Just try to remember that it'll go away soon. You're doing the right thing by avoiding people though when you feel it coming on. Keep up the good work!!!! -
Shannon has it gone away today? if not, I suggest giving your doc a call! Good luck!
-
I've been looking around at some recipes on this site that sound delicious but have noticed a couple use Stovetop stuffing. Is that ok to eat with the band? I wasn't sure because my doc said to stay away from bread.....Just curious! Thanks!

Psychiatric Evaluation?
Carriedaway78 replied to prowinewoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I took a 300 question test. With yes or no answers. Basically what everyone has said. After I finished that, I met with the actual psychiatrist for about 15 minutes.
