Why does my port site hurt so bad?

This hasn't happened to me, and I'm almost 5 weeks out. I think maybe you should call your doctor to make sure nothing is wrong. Best of luck.

Something for me... and not seeming selfish

Sounds like it'll be fun though Sarah. I am getting my hair cut as well, tomorrow. I haven't had it cut since January. My hair is pretty long now, but I don't know what I want to do with it tomorrow....

    Bandster hell help

I'm going through the same thing, I don't have my first fill until June 29th, but I'm hungry alot! Not mentally hungry, but physically, my stomach is always growling like one to 2 hours after eating. I'm trying to eat as much protein as I can to stave the hunger off, but that doesn't really seem to be helping. I'm doing it all on will power right now, but it's getting hard!

Depressed! Only lost 8 lbs so far

I can sympathize. I was banded May 20th, and since surgery I've lost 10.5 lbs. Now, I thought I was doing pretty well, but I've seen others on here who were banded around the same time as me, and they've lost alot more. I know that everyone is different, but it was a bit discouraging. Since the pre-op diet I've lost 26 lbs, but since surgery, I thought I would have lost more than 10. I'm not going to really worry about it, but to see others losing more than me can be a bit hard at times. Hang in there, we'll make it eventually.
  9. Wow, you guys are all doing so well! I'm jealous, lol! Keep up the good work everyone!!!

    Post Op Question

whoa! 20 POUNDS IN 10 DAYS! That's amazing! I'm so happy to hear that you are doing better Lisa! I hope it only gets easier for you every day. I am doing really well, go for my first fill in less than 2 weeks and I'm so excited.
  11. Hey Meredith! Wow, so the process has begun huh? How are you feeling physically since starting the liquids? I bet you are getting nervous, but don't worry, everything will go great. It'll be over before you know it. Things are going great for me. I've lost 10 pounds so far since surgery, which I'm happy about because people say most people don't lose much the first month until their first fill. So all total, 26 pounds. I already feel alot better physically and mentally. It was hard to get adjusted to smaller portions, but now that I'm back on normal foods, it's not as hard at all. I'm exercising every day and feeling great! Don't worry, you'll be doing great too! Let me know how everything goes for you.

  12. In order for my insurance to cover me, I had to have a bmi of 50. I didn't have a bmi of 50 so I had to gain some weight in order for insurance to cover. I did and I'm so glad that I did because I feel, so far, that this is the best thing that I've ever done!

    Post Op Question

Lisa, do you have a therapist you can call? If not, maybe try the one who did your psych eval for your surgery? Sounds like you are going through a really rough time. I wish there was something I could say to make it better or easier for you other than I know that it will go away. But having panic attacks like that sounds pretty serious. You may benefit from talking to someone who will have some good advice. I'm really sorry you are going through this. It should be a good time for you, not one that brings on anxiety. I feel really bad for you. If you need to talk about anything, let me know. WOW, 16 pounds in a week??!?!?!?!?! That's unheard of! And I was excited about my 2 pounds this week, lol. My weekend was fine, pretty boring, but nice. LIke I said, just remember it will pass, but if you think it's getting to be too much to handle, call someone! I hate to see anyone go through this.

What food stage are you at? What are you eating?

Linda, I agree with Spidey Mom, try some hummus or cottage cheese. It really helped me at first as well. Another suggestion I have, is Peanut Butter. I got the low fat Jif creamy peanut butter. Now, I know it still has fat and sugar, but I would just take a teaspoon stick it in there and eat it right off the spoon. In fact I do this once a day. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's got lots of protein and it fills me up for a bit. Otherwise, I'm still hungry like you guys. But the peanut butter has helped! Best of luck.
  15. Hi everyone, just thought I'd compare to see what everyone else is doing! Right now, I had my surgery May 20th, so one week ago, and I'm on stage 3 {full liquids}. I've been having my protein shakes and blended soup, jello, popsicles. I'm so sick of it! What stage are you guys at and what are some different things you are eating? Thanks!
  16. Wow, sounds like you had a lot of fun. Your weekends always sound so fun and adventerous. I'm jealous! ;) You are probably right, it's probably lean muscle mass building up. Have you measured yourself? That's one thing I haven't done, but I bet if you did, you've probably lost alot of inches. Don't worry, I'm sure the weight will come off soon! I lost 2.5 today. Pretty good. I was happy. My weekend was fine, but pretty boring! Especially in comparison to yours! :)

  17. Hey Heather, just checking in to see how you are doing! How was your weekend?

    Protein Supplement Suggestions

I'm having a tough time with the protein right now also. I've been doing it for over a month. I really like the kind I get through my surgeon, HMR 70, but it's too expensive. So I went to GNC this weekend, and the guy working there helped me pick out one, well got it home and it was disgusting. I guess I'll try ordering some Unjury. But I am just so sick of protein supplements!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

I went shopping over the weekend for some summer tops. I tried on the size I usually wear and they were all too big for me! I officially went down a size in shirts, heck even those were a little loose! I was thrilled!

    Post Op Question

Hi Lisa! I'm so sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, but I don't really have internet access over the weekend. How did your weekend go for you? Any easier? Oh, and my name is Carrie!
  22. OMG! I knew the day was coming, but I thought I'd be lucky enough to skip this part, but unfortunately I'm not so lucky. I had my first PB today at lunch because I ate my tunafish too fast. What a horrible feeling! Now I know what everyone has been talking about. I hope it never happens again! Do you guys get them often?

    Post Op Question

Don't stress about it! You'll be fine. if it does happen to you for one reason or another, it'll be over very quickly. But yes, remember to chow alot and don't take too big of a bite. You'll be fine. Remember, you can do this! And we're all in this together!

    Post Op Question

lindsay, I have heard some people on here say they've gained during bandster hell, but that the next week or 2 it came off again. I stayed the same last week, but lost 2 pounds this week. I'm afraid to weigh myself Monday morning because I fear another stay the same or gain because I also am getting ready for "that time of the month" YIKES! But I guess we just have to keep in mind that if we do gain during this time it won't be long before we take it off again!

    Post Op Question

Sorry for the delay in a response, didn't see this until now! It wasn't painful for me. Well at first, when it felt stuck it felt like I couldn't breathe. But then it came right up and then I felt fine. Go figure!
