First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos

Good luck next Tuesday! I don't think you'll be too tight after your first fill. My doc said they don't generally fill too much the first time, so you'll probably be more restricted, but I don't think you'll have to worry about being too tight yet! Good luck! :rolleyes2:

First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos

I'm feeling pretty good! I was really hungry this morning before I went and I just had some soup, and only could eat about 3 oz of it and felt FULL! I know this is common right after, so I'm curious to see how I feel in a couple days. The fill didn't hurt one bit, the doc numbed me up first and I couldn't feel anything! Have you had a fill yet? If not, when do you go?

First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos

Had my first fill about 30 minutes ago! My band holds 9cc. I had 1cc from surgery and he added 2cc today, so I'm at 3cc now. We'll see how it works! I go back July 23rd for my second fill! Hope everyone is doing well!
  4. Meredith! How did it go???

    SO frustrated!

So, I'm almost 5 weeks out from my banding, and everything has been really good, until yesterday. I went to my support group last night, returned home at about 8:30 pm. Went to take my shirt off, reached down and felt something wet. Looked and saw that I had blood all over my stomach under one of my incisions. The one incision on my far left under my breasts was dark purple and looked like it had a blister. So I immediately panicked, went to the urgent care, and found that I have a "stitch/suture abscess". So now I'm on antibiotics for 10 days. I was so mad. I was having a bad day yesterday as it was, and this was just the icing on the cake. (Sorry I mentioned cake, lol). It's just so weird because until this point, my sutures had been healing fine. The doctor said she thought it was irritated by my bra which makes sense. I just want to focus on getting healthy and this was just a total distraction. Anyone else having problems with their incisions? Thanks for letting me vent everyone! I try to talk to my family/boyfriend/friends about it but feel they can't really understand what I'm dealing with. So thanks again for listening!:smile2:

First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos

I go for my first on Monday. I'm nervous because my nurse said he may not do it if I'm steadily losing weight, which I am. I just have to explain to him that I am hungry ALL the time and don't get filled up easily. This weight loss so far has been on sheer willpower alone. I need just a little bit of backup! Keeping my fingers crossed.

    SO frustrated!

Ugh, just got a call from the ER doc that saw me the other day, turns out I have 2 strains of staph infection. Great. So I'm still on antibiotics. Seeing my surgeon Monday for the first fill and he will take a look at my incisions again then. They seem to be healing fine, knock wood. But it just stinks to go through this! Sorry.....frustrated!

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Leann, I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. My condolences.
  9. Haha like Bea, I've got the poor part down, just got to get the skinny. So my answer is definitely skinny and poor. Money doesn't buy happiness!

    Does DH's opinion matter?

I think it stinks that your DH doesn't support your decision to get healthy. What could anyone possibly have against someone trying to lose weight and get healthy? I have seen women say that their husbands/boyfriends are afraid that they will become more attractive to other men when they lose weight. I understand that, but still, they should want what is best for their partner. My boyfriend is so extremely supportive and I'm really thankful for that. Don't feel guilty. You are trying to better yourself. Hopefully he will come around.

Why do women have anal sex?

I think it can work and feel good if you are totally relaxed. But seriously, who is totally relaxed trying anal the first time? I know not me! It can hurt like hell the first time, but after that it does get better.

    Do you douche?

I can't even take a bubble bath without getting an infection! UGH. So no, I don't douche because I've heard that it causes infections. But my vajayjay is just fine and have never had any complaints or problems!
  13. If you really feel like you need to tan, I suggest covering your scars. I know that the sun/fake sun only makes the scars darker. Everyone is different, what might not effect one person can effect the other. I say just be really cautious.

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Well this week I am down 4 pounds!!! Which brings me to a total loss of 30 POUNDS as of today!!!!!! I'm so excited!!! I met my first goal!!!!!
  15. Yeah I think I'll hold off on swimming for a bit. My boyfriend and I are going away next weekend so maybe I'll be able to swim then if the doc gives me the ok! CONGRATS on your 55! That's amazing! And wow, 18/20 tops, that's great, I am still in a 22/24 top because my boobs and stomach are big, lol. I'm jealous. I have gone down in sizes, it's amazing to me! I am in 22 jeans, some 20's too! I know what you mean, it will be so odd to not shop in plus sizes! I can't wait either. I hear some people say that even after they've lost all the weight, they still head to the plus size section because of instinct. I hope that doesn't happen! Congrats to you, you are doing so awesome! Have a great one!

  16. LUCKY! I'm so jealous! I love swimming and don't know anyone with a pool. Hope you have a blast! Enjoy the weather and the weekend! How are things going with your loss? I'm doing well, I've lost 29 so far and my first fill is Monday! Although, one drawback, I had to go to the er Monday because one of my incisions was bleeding and painful. I had a small abscess but it's healing now, I'm on antibiotics. Otherwise I am doing great. Hope you have a beautiful day!

  17. Hey Heather, just checking in to see how you are doing???

  18. Ok so 2 more months then you will get an answer? I did have a stress test because my family has a history of heart disease. But I didn't have to do the exercise portion. Good luck, let me know how it goes!

Frustrated with the small amounts of food? I am!

I'm having the opposite problem as well. I haven't had my first fill yet though, not until Monday. But anyway, I am never full! It's so hard to stop after the small amount I know I should be eating. I made turkey tacos the other night and stopped at one with a very small helping of Beans. But I felt like I could have eaten 2 more tacos! I am really hoping that my fill will help me get fuller quicker. I don't think once I reach restriction that I will have a hard time dealing with the small portions, but only time will tell. Hang in there Ann! I'm sure we'll get used to it soon.

    Frustrated---incision problems.

I know! I'd love to burn my bras, that's for sure, but then my boobs would be at my waist, lol. Hey, I see your surgery is tomorrow!??! GOOD LUCK!!!!!! :smile2:

    SO frustrated!

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually not wearing an underwire. I'm wearing a soft cup bra. I always do wear an underwire normally, but since surgery I've only worn an underwire once. I just have huge boobs and they aren't the perkiest ones going so it rubs up against my incision sometimes when I sit. But I have to keep it covered now for another week so hopefully it won't get anymore irritated.

So.....does anyone here enjoy eating tofu? I haven't tried it before, but was considering getting some today. Does anyone have any good recipes? Thanks!

    Fat stories

I have one. At my old apartment, my neighbor had one of those stupid white plastic patio chairs that are so flimsy. Well I had to go to the ER for a fractured ankle. My mom brought me home at like midnight, and I had a cast on. She took my keys to unlock my door, so I sat in that stupid chair to wait. And wouldn't you know my fat @ss broke the stupid chair? Yeah, so I had to explain to my neighbor that I broke it and bought him a new one. Wow that was super embarassing.
