Dr. Aceves :-)
4weightlosssake replied to Elisabethsew's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm scheduled for June 14th as well but my husband is worried about me going to Mexico for surgery. I'm also having a revision surgery (lap band to VSG). Does anyone know how far is the drive from the border to the hospital ? I don't mean from the airport. my husband doesn't feel comfortable if majority of the drive to hospital will be inside Mexico as opposed to the US. -
How do you keep from not losing too much weight on your face
4weightlosssake posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery May 2009 and I've gone from 250 lbs to 157 lbs. My goal is 150 lbs but I feel like I don't like my face anymore. Still have some fat around the mid section I'm working on but my face is making it hard for me to keep losing weight. Everyone says I look sick and I can see it from my recent pics. any suggestions ? -
How long before you loved your Band?
4weightlosssake replied to delopez3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 months post-op and 90 lbs down and I'm in love with my band. there was a point I didn't like it that much because I felt it wasn't doing what it was supposed to do. I lost the first 50 lbs within 6 months without much restriction. I struggled and was frustrated, but I kept working hard on my own. I have averaged 10 lbs lost / months since I got good restriction and I'm loving my band for it. -

OMG...where did my girls go!
4weightlosssake replied to DanBar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine have gone on vacation too. They weren't even that big to start with (was a C cup before surgery) and they are worst now. Lucky I have the backside to compensate for them -
Please be honest with me.....
4weightlosssake replied to philippians413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stop beating yourself up over nothing. Everyone struggles and cheats on this journey. The key is to always get back up. You won't be able to cheat even if you tried once you get restriction. I struggled with head hunger my first 6 months until I got restriction and I couldn't even cheat anymore because the food won't go down. -
16 Fills and no restriction
4weightlosssake replied to AZDave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had 8 fills since my surgery last May. I didn't have any restriction till late Nov so I kept bugging my doctor for fills. my last fill was in Jan and I have good restriction now. the funny thing is that I don't even know how many cc I have in my 10 cc band because my doctor flatly told me that he doesn't keep records of ccs. -
Do you have a goal prize?

Feeling like a $15,000 failure!
4weightlosssake replied to DizzyLizzy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be too hard on yourself. 12 lbs in a months is not a failure. Everyone doesn't lose weight at the same rate. Find out what works for you and stick with it. Good luck -
What happens when you fill your band to the max?
4weightlosssake replied to BellaNena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my doctor said the same thing and that's why he doesn't keep record on how many cc he gives you. he says he gives fill based on individual responds and haven't had anyone max out yet -
Sounds like we have the same doctor. I don't even know how many cc have in right now because mine doesn't keep record. he flat out told me that he doesn't believe that any doctor is accurate on how many cc any patients has in their band and so to him, that doesn't matter. what matters according to him is how the patient feels after each fill. I have a 10 cc band and almost 6 months post surgery, had about 6 or 7 fills (I lost count..lol) and barely have any restriction.

What are your trigger foods?
4weightlosssake replied to samanthazzz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Coco puffs cereal...OMG !!! I don't even buy it any more and my kids love it to death. It is a slider food and I can eat two bowls at one sitting. it sets me back a lot, I had to stop buying it. -
I add my name to the list. I need something to motivate me the next 3 wks.

Dr. Ricardo Bonnor - Dr. Bonnor is WONDERFUL!
4weightlosssake replied to MistyD65's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had surgery with Dr Bonnor in May and I was self pay. I paid $11,500.00. I have had 5 fills and still have no restriction. I had one last wk and will probably go back tomorrow for another one (He asked me to come back tomorrow if I still don't have restriction) because I didn't feel any different since after the fill. I can eat anything and it doesn't even feel like I have a band in place. I am begining to get worried because it will be 5 months on the 26th and I'm still stuck with 40 lbs loss (going up and down 3 lbs). -
How does this work ? I want to join.

Okay, I watch a lot of lap band patients on youtube and most of them seem to have an accountability partner. So how many of you here have an accountability partner and if you do, how does he/she help to keep you on track? I have been struggling for 5 days now and have gained some weight (not a lot though), but weight gain is not part of this journey.

To girdle or not to girdle, that is the question?

I made a post couple of days back on this. For me SQUEEM is the best for abdominal support. It works better than spanx -
Anyone lose friends after Lap Band?
4weightlosssake replied to angelic3432's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My friend was actually the one that convinced my to have this surgery after I flipped on my husband for even suggesting it. She was there for the day of the surgery, took care of my kids after the surgery and all the excitement we built up together before the surgery. I can't wait for her to have her own surgery soon. On the other hand, I have another friend I have been friends with for over ten yrs. We are both married. She is bigger than me and have HBP. I didn't tell her about my surgery till like 3 wks post surgery. She called me one day complaining on how she has all these health issues and blah blah blah. So I told her about the surgery just in case she wants to look into it. The following week, she and her husband went and joined a gym and she never got back to me on her decision. I know our relationship won't be the same after I lose weight because she will get so defensive about everything fat -
~Calling all May 26-ers!~
4weightlosssake replied to sailorChristy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's been two months since surgery, just wanted to know how everyone is doing. I know most of us are in bandster hell right now, so when are y'all getting your second fill ? I have been doing my best for two weeks now and it really did pay off. I have lost 40 lbs in two months. I lost 13 lbs in the last two weeks , but I worked my butt off for it. I have a wedding on the 9th of August and I will be seeing most of my classmates that I haven't seen since May. I want to turn heads you know...lol. I have goals of another 10 lbs by then. I am not relying on the band right now, I am relying on myself. -
How often do you weigh in?
4weightlosssake replied to Erin 6-9-2009's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I used to weigh myself everyday just like everyone else, but I was on bandster hell for almost three wks and it wasn't fun climbing the scale every morning after 2 hrs workout at the gym the night before and nothing. So I put my scale in the trunk of my car for 2 wks now, so I can concentrate on actually doing the work instead of obsessing about every loss and gain. I haven't weighed myself for two wks now and will know my current weight when I go to get my second fill on Tuesday. My plan is to weigh once a month only at my doctor's office. I know I have lost weight because I 've gone down two dress sizes ( from size 18 to 14) in two months. -
Girdles, Cinchers or even spanx
4weightlosssake posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can we wear any of these. Do you wear workout bands? I will love to wear workout band when I exercise but I'm worried about my band. I carry a lot of my fat around my mid-section and my stomach doesn't look like it is going down even though I have gone down two dress sizes in two months. -

SQUEEM is wonderful. I'm glad you wore yours and nothing happened. I will start wearing mine starting tonight. I don't want my tummy to be hanging after losing all these weight. I didn't know they sell them at Walgreens. I bought mine from hourglassangels.com -

I so want to wear my waist cinchers to sleep every night but I'm afraid it will compress my band or even the port. I want flatter stomach to go with my changing body. -
Unexpedted negativity!!
4weightlosssake replied to rmanns00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, they sound more positive when they are recruiting you than they do after the surgery. My doctor told me that it will take two years for me to reach my goal of 100 lbs loss and that I may never look like I did when I was younger. Give me a break, I'm 31 yrs old and looked 23 until I crossed over 200 lbs. He never sounded that way pre - surgery and now you are telling me it will take two years to loss the weight. I told him to let me worry about that, just give me fill every month. Initially he refused but when I went for my first fill, he agreed I can come back once a month if I don't have restriction after every fill. -
Dr. Ricardo Bonnor - Dr. Bonnor is WONDERFUL!
4weightlosssake replied to MistyD65's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hey Misty....I have been busy lately and haven't been on here a lot lately. I did get my first fill last week thursday (instead of tuesday) because there were too many patients at Dr Bonnor's office on tuesday and my hubby was coming home that evening from offshore, so I had to leave and rescheduled for thursday. Dr Bonnor came in at 8.00 am that morning just for me, thought that was really nice of him. It was my best visit to his office so far and I'm beginning to think that they read our comments on lapbandtalk....lol. He was very nice and the whole visit didn't take more than 10 mins. It wasn't painful at all, didn't even feel the needle go in. The only problem is that I have absolutely zero restriction till now. I am doing my best though (lost 4 lb since then) and will probably wait till the next 4 - 5 wks to see what happens.
