I went to see Dr. Averbach yesterday, I have to have UGI series to be done. Could you recommend me a radiology office in Maryland or in Washington DC, which is familiar with gastric band? migraines are much more complex than just triggers it is hereditary also, my grandma committed suicide, she couldn't take the pain anymore, her son, my father is suffering also, and myself + as many as one in five people may suffer from patent foramen ovale (PFO) - or a hole in the heart - which can leave them at increased risk of both stroke and migraine

It is funny thing that I got Lotrel to treat my high blood pressure, and it is a Calcium channel blocker, and it really prevents my migraines very well also... All my adult life suffered from migraines, cluster headaches. I have been in the hospital numerous times over the past 30 years, this pill really works for me. Barium swallow x-ray in Maryland/Washington
katalin.e. replied to katalin.e.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Katschai, Thanks so much... My wonderful surgeon is in Hungary, in a hospital he comes to the radiology, to check my barium swallow in person. Now I went to see Dr. Averbach, here in Maryland ... he gave me a prescription for UGI series. It is very confusing for me. I have no idea whom should I call, I have asked Dr. Averbach if he can recommend an office but left his office without any recommendations. So, when you had this baseline (or a scout xray) where did you go to? St. Agnes? do you have a phone number? I have aetna, but I don't think it will cover it, would you know how much are these xrays self-pay? THANKS so much for your help..... I am in desperate need of help for information. Could any of you recommend me a radiology office in Maryland or in Washington DC, which is familiar with adjustable gastric bands in general? Thanks in advance. jme62, I'm going through something very similar right now. I had my surgery a month before you, lost 70 pounds, had my last fill in November. Cannot keep down food at certain situations. Made an appointment for barium swallow, I think you should too. Start/Current/Goal lbs 230/162/130 Surgery 24 Nov 06 Dr. András Vereczkei ((he's awesome!!)) About 2 months ago ... I ran into a Francesco Biasia's "disco diva" handbag at (!) Marshalls, purchased it, came home, checked on ebay, the price point three times as much :clap2: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1136/1444780936_700822950a_o.jpg

one-year anniversary :whoo: the pounds that are lost are gone forever :clap2: -
I have suffered from excruciating migraines since my teens. I am afraid to take Excedrin, because it is a NSAIDs : non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. That is not a very good mix with the lap band, NSAIDs can lead to erosion.

How long have you had your band and are you still happy?
katalin.e. replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
1 year, 5 days. No regrets here either. All things considered, I'm very happy with my decision. -
Band Size, Any info???
katalin.e. replied to ParaGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Put my two cents in, ... lap-band's history goes back to Belgium, very first surgery was in Huy, Belgium in September of 1993... (my surgeon is from Hungary, he went to Belgium to get his training) Belgium possible must have very experienced superb lap-band surgeons. -

11 months ... and I am now 170 -
I can relate to your post saltlick. Since last Nov. 24, I have lost 59 lbs. I had around 80 lbs or so to lose. And I have dropped from a size 22 to a 14 also. I started out at 230, and now 171 @ 5'4". I am 48. I follow all the rules in eating, and I (nordic) walk 7 days a week, every morning, 5 miles, outside. I am just a slow loser as well. Maybe I am swimming against the tide, not easy with menopausal symptoms. But I do not make any excuses. I will win this battle some day.

How often do you PB?
katalin.e. replied to lins12's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been banded 10 months. I never had a PB episode until about 2 months ago ...most of the time, is more the golf-ball with slime, and I get the "first bite syndrome" often. I have only had PB 3 times: - grilled salmon (too dry) - raw sauerkraut (I don't know why) - apple (chewing a big bite of it) -
I get banded and Trader Joe's opens up...
katalin.e. replied to Darragha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so with you! Joe's is awesome! I couldn't live without Trader Joe's. I buy the salmon there, but I make the salmon burger myself... Delicious! 2 1/4 pounds salmon fillet, skinned, pin bones removed 1/2 cups panko (Japanese bread crumbs) or other dried bread crumbs 1/2 cup minced scallions 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro leaves 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 teaspoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce Using a sharp knife, cut the salmon into 1-inch pieces and transfer to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until the fish is finely chopped. (Take care not to overprocess or salmon will become a paste.) Transfer to a mixing bowl and add the panko, 1/4 cup of the scallions, 2 tablespoons of the cilantro, minced ginger, egg, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of the soy sauce. Using a rubber spatula, mix gently but thoroughly to combine. Divide the mixture into 6 even portions and shape into patties about 4 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of oil. When the oil is hot, season both sides of the salmon burgers lightly with the kosher salt and add the burgers to the skillet and cook, turning once, until golden brown on both sides and the salmon is just cooked through, about 3 1/2 minutes per side. Recipe from Emeril. Joe's just started to carry frozen black raspberries, the best for smoothies. Trader Joe's vanilla soy milk + Trader Joe's vanilla whey powder + frozen black raspberries ... yuMmmmmmmm -
I have just Nordic walked 8.71 miles today, outside ... Yes, I feel wonderful tonight. mini goal to reach by Oct. 31:
