    zumba?

I love Zumba too! Took a bunch of classes last year, but there are none that work for my schedule around where I am. But, I did find a Jazzercise place and LOVED LOVED LOVED it I signed up tonight! SO for those who don't have a Zumba class near you, try jazzercise! I was almost alike. We also incorporated had weights and a dedicated ab workout - Wow, wasn't ready for that a week out of surgery! Either Jazz or Zumba - Keep it moving!! Check out jazzercise.com ....Just wanted to throw that in. Thanks everyone!

    Little Disappointed!!!

I have an appointment 1 month out too and he may or may not do a fill at that time. I have zero in my band now.My PA said she has many patients with nothing in there band and 1 patient that has 6 cc's - the most she's ever put in a band. It all depends on you. I have a friend that is a year out from surgery and still has 0 in her band and is still losing! Just listen to your body and your doctor. This is all new for us and in time we will figure it out. A whole new way to live. Cheers!
  3. 1 month so sometime in the beginning of June. Have you lost since the banding? Come on toot your horn!
  4. Hey Jen - got back from a great post op check up. Everything is going great. I am doing great and have lost 12 official Dr. Scale pounds!! How was your check up??
  5. Glad to here it is nothing! Good luck on Wed. I have the same feelings you have about food. Too bad we are so far apart. But, yes, we must keep in touch. Signing off for awhile. Take care and enjoy your strained soup! YUM.....
  6. Pretty good. Loving the new full liquid diet. I was getting real tired of broth and juice! You can only doctor up beef and chicken broth so much! I am just still tender in the rib area too. Just takes time to heal. Other than that, I seem to have so much more energy and motivation to do things! I was such a slug before this. My kids hate it cuz now I am on a cleaning rampage! I ate some of the thinned malt-o-meal this morning - Who eats this stuff regularly?!? I am not a fan of the cream of wheat and oatmeals, but it was different and had texture :-) NASTY anyway! LOL.... I am getting the hungry feeling but afterI eat I am good so rock on I guess! I have dropped almost 10 lbs so far no complaints from me! I am excited to see the Dr. o Wednesday for my 1st follow up. My band was not filled is yours? I have a friend that went to this dr 18 months ago and she has never had a fill and has lost more that 60 lbs! It would be nice if I did that to! Well, off to finish cleaning. Let me know how you are doing. Where are you? Anywhere close to WI?? BTW..... For the shoulder pain, get a tube sock and fill it with rice. heat it in the microwave for a few minutes or until it is warm for you. lay it across your shoulder. The heat and the weight of the rice pack helps ease the muscle and gets the air out if there is still left over in there. This helped me and it is a huge recovery room nurse tip.
  7. Hey, Jen. I get this pain too. The port is in the Rectus Abdominal Muscle - this is the "6-pack" set of muscles. The highest section lays right under your rib cage and this is were they sink the port. This is more likely what your feeling. Mine comes and goes too. Otherwise you doing well?

    Forum Technical Questions

not sure about this forum, but others I have been on before, you can't do anything like what you want until you have posted X amount of posts. It's usually like 5 or so posts. Again, not sure if this is true for this forum. Also if you haven't found it yet, go to the top and under the top banner there is a tab when you are logged in that says "User CP" this is where you can change your profile options for email, signature, and all kinds of other things. I do remember a spot I believe in the EDIT Signature spot where you can put a ticker. Hope it helps. Take care.

Weight Watchers and being newly banded??

Thanks to all of you for your input! There is so much to digest - ha, no pun intended!! Anyway, I will look at all the suggestions and figure out what will be right for me. All I know is I feel so wonderful for the first time in a really long time. It's just a new beginning for me and something new I will be learning. I have never been a ww meeting attender. I always got the feeling of shame when I was there. And who needs that? I have used the online tool for quite some time with and without success due to my own successes and failures. So anyway I go, I hope that it works for me, and if not, back to the drawing board. Thanks again for your thoughts.
  10. Hi! I am newly banded and loving it. I was banded May 3rd and have adjusted quite well. My Dr. recommended that I use weight watchers as a tool to help me with my weight loss and new way of life. I am very familiar with WW but wondering how you use it being banded. Do you still eat all the points recommended for your entered weight? Before the band, I struggled just to meet the daily points. Any suggestions since the calorie intake is a lot less? Or do I use merely as a food consumption tracking devise? Any suggestions or advise would be helpful! Thanks! Ann:wink2:
  11. Jen, I am not even suppose to start Protein drinks till tomorrow when my diet changes from Clear liquids to full liquids. Bring on the creamy Soup and yogurt!! How are you feeling? I am still sore right under my left rib cage - where the port sits. other than that, my energy is slowly creeping back. Today has been the best day yet! Still no hunger, but pushing the liquids. Let me know how you are doing!
  12. Never in my mind would I have thought that 2 oz of sugar-free jello would fill me up to the point of puking.....Wow...now its on to some broth. YUM....

Looking for SE Wisconsinites for support

Hey! Hartford Here. I was banded today and love the support ideal. Healing well. Very tired, but will post later. Come Wisconsin people!! Throw your names in!! Ann
  14. Hey Girl! Sit ups for me too!! That is the best description I can come up with! Liquids and jello going down fine. No nausea, but a lot of "gassy" back pain. I think the C02 they fill ya with is stuck under my diaphragm! Over all not as bad as I thought. Got home today about 2pm and have been resting. It's almost 80 degrees out so just got dressed and going for a walk cuz it is suppose to turn crappy all the way to Sunday. Keep me post as to how you are doing. Good luck.
  15. Welcome to the beginning of my new life. Off to surgery I go!! Good luck to all of you this week!!

    Wisconsin: Where are you??

Hey! Another Wisconsonite here!! I am being banded on Monday 5/3 by Dr. Prewitt at Community Memorial. I am so excited and nervous too! Hope we can stir up this forum again to continue to lend support to fellow cheeseheads! Fun Tracy - I work at Froedtert but don't know much about their Lapband. Are you having Dr. Wallace do it? I have met him and worked with him several time and see a lot of his by-pass patients. He's a very nice person. Good luck and keep me posted!
  17. May 3rd for me to! So exciting! DottieAnn - I was suppose to do the colon clensing thing to, but I am at work tonight and tomorrow night and to be running to a bathroom would have been horrible! So, he put me on the clear liquids so I am starting it tonight. My kids and husband had church music rehersal this morning and some of the ladies were there knitting prayer shawls. So now I have a beautiful shawl to take with me Monday and keep it close knowing that whatever may happen it is in God's hands. I know we will all be successful with surgery! Hopefully we can all post after surgery and see how we are all doing. Take care and prayers to all of you co-May 3rd'ers.
  18. Melissa, I can't say that I am in the same situation, but I can see your frustration. It is a hard thing for someone without a weight issue to wrap their minds around it. I have surgery Monday and it wasn't till yesterday that my hubby asked why I think I need this. HELLO??? Couldn't this conversation have happened earlier? I h=know it is hard but give your sig other time. Ask him if he has questions. Be honest with your answers. I found that just throwing out comments to probe for questions worked. He finally has an understanding now as to why I need this. And, lets not forget about the eventual outcome. You will be thinner, happier, more energetic, basically you will be a little different. I have a friend that has been married almost 20+ years and she hd bypass done. Well, she was about 5'1 and close to 300lbs. She now is like 150 lbs. She has fire, spunk, energy, and she smiles all the time. She said her hubby had a very hard time dealing with the "new" wife. They almost had to re-introduce themselves to each other. I know you want him to be there for you, but be sure you are there for him. You hopefully have a strong partnership and support will be needed for both of you. Good luck with everything. I hope I didn't scare you, I just wanted to shed light on other things to think about. Take care! - Ann
  19. Wow, Can't believe how close it is! I work all weekend so I am hoping it will keep me focused. I didn't have a pre-op diet (thankfully) So we went for "my last supper" of mexican food. But, I felt so bad I had the healthier version of things - fajitas! Anyway, going to start on a low residue diet tomorrow and on Saturday night ( I work 3rd shift) I am starting the clear liquids. I sure hope 2nd shift Sunday goes by fast. I work in a department that is known for their feasting. UGH!!!! I hope that everyone has a safe surgery and I hope we can all post that evening or the next day to see how it went. God bless all of you, I wish nothing but the best. *** Hugs ***

    Confused..

Whoa there...so sorry to offend you. I meant no disrespect, I just know how the differences are and each choice is personal. I based my information on what I know and what I have personally witnessed from my friends that have had both. Clearly I am a fan of the Lap, but I certainly am not against the bypass. On that note, I again apologize and support whatever decision people make. It is THEIR life, THEIR decision, and how THEY choose to live life after surgery is all up to them. Wow, so sorry to all I ticked off. I will be leaving now. Take care all.
  21. I have the choice. My surgery is at 12:30, and he said depending on how I feel, It could be overnight or home. Working at a hospital - I may choose home. Not much rest given at a hospital with them coming in every hour making sure you are alive - LOL.....Anyway. Do you hve a pre-op diet to follow? I don't with the exception to the day before where he wants me on clear liquids. He said they don't want to "punish" me any further since 6 weeks after diet is so crummy! i like this Dr's thinking!!! Where are you if you don't mind me asking?

    Confused..

it is there for life. once you hit your goal weight, it becomes a maintenance life goal rather than a weight loss. Once it's in it's in unless there is a need to remove it.

    Confused..

Fluoroscopy is the use of X-rays. It is like live TV. Doctors use it so that they can access the port to do fills. It is just a way of seeing everything. Good luck on your decision. It is a hard one to make. do your research. I work in radiology and see bypass surgery patients all the time. I work with 6 people that have had it done. Some look great some don't. It is all in how you want to live your life after surgery. If you don't mind taking lots of pills everyday because of malabsorbtion, the bypass, if you don't mind messing with natural anatomy...bypass.....if you eat sugar and don't mind going to the toilet ofter, then, bypass....Just my two cents. I feel that a slower weight loss is healthier, you look better, and it make YOU work at it....That's what I needed...My date is May 3rd for banding. I am so excited. Yes I have fears and reservations, but I know in the end, it is everything I need. Good luck!
  24. Me too!! So excited! Seems like forever since the initial appointment! I can't wait to finally live my life again - and enjoy doing it!
