I'm a failure...PLEASE HELP ME!!!
bandfriend replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am new to the site and feeling your pain. I have been banded for 8 months and only lost 19 pounds. But I read these posts and it has really got me motivated to move on, get in for a fill and let this band do its job. -
Okay- you save me just in time from ordering it. I copied what you sent and am getting started on this. You have been GREAT... Thanks. This will be me someday soon being able to help others.

Hi Bioteacher, I am going to check this site out that I just read on another blog. Apparently you can find out if your band is stretched. Order the 5 Day Pouch Test Owner's Manual Also, see the message to me from Restlessmonkey, great advise.

Hi, I just read about this on another blog and am going to check it out. Thought I would pass it onto you. Apparently this test will tell you if your pouch is stretched. Order the 5 Day Pouch Test Owner's Manual

Thanks Restlessmonkey, This is the best advise I have probably had. I am going to call my doc tomorrow to get on the list of cancellations so I can get a fill asap instead of having to wait another month. Thanks again.

Hi butterflybelle It sounds like several of us don't have any restricions and probably need to push doc for a fill. I know I am stuggling also and so discourged, but I have to say being on the site for these couple days is really helping me to want to stick with this and keep trying. I am going to contact my doc to see if I can get in for a fill instead of having to wait like 5 more weeks. Stay on here and get connected with others, that is what I am going to do and keep your chin up. We can all do this:)

Hi BioTeacher, Glad to hear back from you. I also wish you the best with your band. You know mine doesn't really feel anyway. I only feel it still when I lay on my left side too long. This doesn't sound like a head problem and I am not sure I would continue to go to a MD that told me that. Just being on this site for a couple days now I read several that are struggling. More are doing well, thank goodness, but there are those that are not losing weight. I work with a girl that had the band 2 years ago, lost 30 pounds and nothing after that so she ended up putting all that back on. I just wonder how the doc can say your band is working if you aren't losing. See I am not losing. I have not lost since I think November. After reading blogs these past few days I think I am going to call the doc this week to see if I can please get in and get a fill. So lets stay in touch and maybe we can help each other or at least pump each other up to stay with this. I so want this weight off. I started walking and am walking 2 miles a day now for 3 weeks, actually 5 days a week, I don't do it on the weekend. I am hoping this will kick start something:) Talk to you real soon, Debbie

Hi xxFATExx, Boy do I know where you are coming from. I was banded 8 months ago and have only lost 19 lbs. I have not lost anything in over 3 months now. I also don't feel restricted at all - and can eat most things. The only food I feel restriction with is bread. I am soooooo discouraged. :rolleyes2: and am so afraid I am going to be a failure at this, actually I already am. I also was thinking about talking to me MD about the possibly of having a stretched pouch. Can't really give any advise because I also am going through this.

Hi, Well it helped to hear your story and hear I am not the only one struggling. I was thinking of going back to the beginning also and just stop eating like after a cup. I know I am going to be hungry, but I don't want to be a failure at this either. I also have been angry about this band. Maybe we can stay in touch and help each other out. I don't have another fill for like 4 weeks. I have 2 1/2 ml in a 9ml band. I will try to get on line daily and stay in touch with others and yourself if you would like to. I need all the encourgagement I can get and I am sure you can use it also. Debbie:bored:

First patients to have Realize...let's hear from you!
bandfriend replied to 2BtinyinTN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Monica, Thanks for the reply. My MD is so busy, the office does all the bariatric surgeries and it takes months to get an appoinment and they only allow one appoinment to be set at a time because they need room for all their patiends. The office said they are giving small fills and far apart because I had problems after surgery and was in the hospital a week because I couldn't even drink water. Then on my first fill which was only 1/2cc I couldn't drink water, but I don't have any restriction once the swelling from the fill goes down. I just so hope this starts work. I am so frustrated I have even joined weight watchers again for that extra help. I write down everything to show my doc when I do have my next appointment. :rolleyes2: -
I am so having a difficult time. I can still eat anything and have no restriction.

I was had the Realize band in Sept 08, have had 2 fills. The first fill was 1/2cc and the second was 2 months ago of 2cc. I am really struggling, not losing weight and can still eat the house and everything in it. I can't get in to see my doc for 6 more weeks. Create Your Own Ticker -
Hi BioTeacher, I am in the same boat as you. I had surgery 9 months ago, lost 25 and have 10 of it back on. I have had 2 fills and can still eat anything. I was thinking I also need to start over from day one.
