although I did not eat alot of steak before being banded. I did eat burgars with out buns, My taste buds have changed and any red meat at all taste nasty to me. I have tried to eat different red meats and they all have a "gross me out" taste. Its a good thing I like chicken breast and pork tenderlion (no bones)... because I would not know what to do. I am not big on fish either....

ok a friend of mine works at vit. world and told me about these protein shot. she says they have 49 grams of protein. she said i didn't have to drink it all at once. but it comes in fruity flavors. I wanted to know if anyone has tried these. I am having trouble getting in the protein. i can not stand the protein shakes. I have tried several different ones and nope don't like. I think they taste like water down milk . And i cant stand milk. My mom says even as a baby she could not get me to drink it. "" i don't like it, i don't want it" is what she say I have always said or done and yes as a adult i am still the same way. I am a very picky eater. I would rather stave then eat something i don't like. and believe me i have not ate for days because I didn't like something.. I think thats what got me into this trouble with my weight. I have never over eatten even after not eating for a long time. but starving myself has caused this slow metabolism along with having thyroid issue. anyways i am getting off the subject.Has anyone tried these shots?

cool thank you guys for responding. I am going tomorrow and getting some. My surg. says he does not care how I get the protein as long as I get in 80 to 100 grams a day and of course its low in fat. I know I have never got this much protein ever, even we i was skinny (i have only been over weight for the past couple of years i injuried my knee at work on the ambulance and the weight came fast after that)... Its funny how all of a sudden we have to have this much protien... To my understanding it is suppose to make you fill fuller longer. But I was never really hunger before my band I had to make myself eat at least once a day. But at least this will make my body think I am eating three meals a day. so maybe that will help me get my metabolism back working agian....

Not drinking before/during/after meals
emtsusieq replied to Carriedaway78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a heard time with this too. I am only two weeks post op. with no fill. but i make sure if i drink when eating it is same sips just to wet the taste some and i stop eating before me three to four oz. if i get hungery before time, i have some unsweet decaf tea. and make myself hold out till next the next meal. most of the time I find that i was not really hungery anyway. -
Anyone else banded with no fill?
emtsusieq replied to greta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 30th too. I only had to do one week of the liq clear/full diet for a week on the seventh day i start purred/mushie food. my surg told me that i could have whatever my family was eating. he even said i did not have to put it in the blender as long as it chew it till it was runny in the mouth before swallowing. now dont get me wrong i have stayed away from bread and red meat and sweets ( i really dont like them anyway except for the sweets) but i take very small bites and chew till runny. My band was not filled and is still not filled, I wont see my dr till 6weeks after surg. It may take me forever to eat but that really is a good thing, i am eating less than the 3-4 oz and realizing i am full. -
Hi everyone I was banded on tues 6/30, and everything is going fine so far... I still dont want to eat much but I am trying. I keep water beside me at all times. My pain is just about gone except for a little gas pain. For me the only thing that helped with the gas was walking and it hurt really bad right after in the shoulder but later that night (in my sleep ) my hubby said I released alot of the gas.:tongue2: anyway, i hope everyone else is doing good too.
-
count me in. i know i am starting a little late. was banded 6/30/09.. My Dr ok'ed me to start walking 7/6/09.
-
hope all goes well for the upcoming surgery's.. I think I am final relieved of the gas and shoulder pain... it took a few days.. I was allowed to start the full liq diet yesterday and I think that helped. last night I had my hubby get me a small vanilla milk shake from mcd since they make it with frozen yogurt. i could only drink no even 1/4 and it was so good. it helped with the dryness of my mouth and throat. My hubby has been such a great help. he got on here and looked up something the night before my surgery. so he could be prepared. he is a firefighter, so today is is first 24 hour back on and he has been calling more today checking on me then he ever does. I did take the kids to get take out from o'charlies tonight and i had the potato soup i strained it so i would only get the soupy part. It was very good I was so excited when I could not eat all of it, normally i would have the soup at least two of the amazing rolls and the chicken tenders with broccoli cheese rice. I thing there tenders are the best too. A friend of mine says she has a low fat recipe for that soup. so I am going to get it from her to try. lucky I only have to do the rest of week one on full liq's before i can go to purred/ mushes. I did have some hungry pains when I was on the clear liq diet part the last day I was on. but i think that was because chicken broth is sooooo nasty to me. jello is not my favorite and i hate popcilces...so I was barely eating anything. just drinking alot of water. :smile2:

Hey everyone, I have 4 more days till surgery day.. And now I am getting scared, Do I really want to do this? Maybe it just pre surgery nerves? Is this normal?
-
Ok I tried the eas choc. pre mixed shake today and it was nasty. the first drink was ok but after that it went down hill. I do not like milk so i am trying to find some shake that does not compare to milk in any way. I would like something pre mixed if possible. I am afraid if i mix it myself i might add extra cals, carbs and fat to it. if anyone knows of any shakes that are not like milk or has any recipes please let me know. thanks

What is the two week diet right before surg???
emtsusieq posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok i my be jumping the gun. But i have been reading that two weeks before surg. You go on a diet that reduce liver size? So i am trying to make sure i can aim for a week my husband is on vaction to have my surg done. As long as all my test come back ok for the preop testing then it should not be a problem. So i want to go ahead and start this diet so there is not reason why they cant do the surg in this time frame. Can anyone tell me what it is. My doctors office has not said anything about it yet. But they dont tell you much before its time to have the next step done. So i wanted to know if anyone can tell me what it is? And if i should start it prior to the pre op testing or will that effect the test in some way? I am having my pre op testing done next week. Also can anyone tell me what it is. I have already done the phych and nutr. Assessment. That had to be done before it was sent into the ins comp. They have approved me. So the lady at the dr office said i would get a call monday to set up my testing and lab work for the surg. So does any one know what it is? -
What is the two week diet right before surg???
emtsusieq replied to emtsusieq's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spoke to my Dr. Office today and they told me they do not require a and diet before surg. I asked about the different liq/ protein diet and she stated " no" they do not give their Pt's a diet to follow before surg. she said if I wanted to start on a diet then eat healthy and aiming for 800-1000 cals a day to get used to what my life will be like after surg. and if I drink coke then try and stop that now will help. but it was not required until after surg. I guess this is good but it does make me wonder why they are all different. -
I just called the ins company after my free seminar and ask if it was covered.. they told me Dr woodman was a in network provider and yes it was covered 100%. So i went to the initial visit April 1st and only paid the $20 co pay. at that visit they went over everything uhc wanted to cover it. but at that time nothing had been sent in. My paperwork was just summited to uhc 4/20 and on Friday i called uhc and they told me they received all the paperwork from Dr Woodman's office and I was approved. The Approval letter went out 4/23 in the mail. I have been amazed with uhc being so quick. I work in a dental office and have been dealing with ins company's and they like to give you the run around but i will say i have been impressed with UHC

My plan covered my inital visit with the midsouth bariatrics. the only thing i had to pay was my $20.00 copay. There office did all my paperwork and sent in for the approval , my pcp did not do anything except write me a letter and refer me to them. I was told the only out of pocket cost would be the my $100 ded to the hosptial. The office and ins both told me this. with that said I may have to pay a $500 to the office for ongoing support with psych and nutl. They told me all clints have to pay this because the ins will not. I am checking into this because I can have twenty psych visit a year and now my nult visit on the other hand i have to pay for my ins will not cover this cost. they did cover the inital one with on the $20 copay but stated anything after that i would have to pay for. So at most i am looking at $600 out of pocket cost. plus any copays for fills.
