  1. I know exactly how you feel. I agree it feels as if we went through and now think "What the - - - - ?" but we do have to wait until we get our fill and hope that with that and better eating habits this will work for us too. I was banded 4/9 and I have a fill next week and I can not wait. I sure hope that this gives me restriction because my will power is not the best or I would not be where I am today. Hang in there, that is what I am doing.
  2. I was banded on April 9th. At first I was lucky to eat 1/4 cup if mushies, I know that it was due to the swelling of my stomach due to the surgery. In the first two weeks following surgery I lost 20 ponds. Now it seems that I can eat alot most times, though not as much as before my surgery I don't think. There has been some days that I can't eat much but overall I feel as if I am letting myself down. I do not go for a fill until the 20th of this month and the PA said that they will probaly put 3cc's in my band. He was not quite sure what size the surgeon put in because when I went for my 2 week post op the PA said that he did not read the report, but it was probaly a 10. I am not quite sure what that will hold. Do you think that this will give me much restriction? I am wanting to lose this weight but it is like the others have said on here, if I had the will power I would not have went through this. When will things start to happen?????

Good luck to you. I know where you are coming from but I think that it will happen for us before we know it.

  10. Does any one have any problems eating white pasta? I was told by one dietician no white pasta but now I am seeing another one and nothing was mentioned that it had to be wheat. How about you guys?? I will be moved to soft foods on wednesday and my paper says ground meat casseroles are allowed. ANy suggestions?
  11. I was banded on 4/9 and only had to do liquids for 1 day and then I was able to have pureed foods. I can do almost anything just so it is pureed. I go back to the dr's on the 22 and then should be on the soft foods for 4 weeks. Hope then to get my first fill. Must have some swelling because 1/4 cup does fill me up.
  12. Well I finally get to tell my story!!!:lol2: I ahd my surgery done on 4/9 and had to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM. MY DH and my olest son went along and when we arrived we were met by a very nnice nurse which done the weigh in, gave me a paper gown, which I thought was awful  and done the usual question and BP. When I was taken to preop at 6:30 that terrible paper gown turned out to be very nice  They hooked a vacuum type thing up to it and it was a warming gown so that then you are laying there in the cooler room wating it heats up. Very nice !!! :sneaky: My surgery was scheduled for 7:30 and while in the pre op room my surgeon came in to see me, the anesthesia people and I was given my shot of heparin which I was dreading bc of everyone saying how bad it hurt and I was surprised because I did not feel a thing !!!:smile2: My hand was numbed before my IV was put in so I did not feel that either. At exactly 7:30 I was wheeled into the OR and asked to scoot on to the OR table and the next thing I remember was waking up in the Recovery room. There was a man snoring very loudly beside me and I had a very wonderful nurse who was very kind. She asked me to rate my pain which I gave a 5 to and she gave me a shot of morpheine which I did not like:sad: and decided I would take no more of that. I did not like the way it made me feel. I was taken to my room by 10:00 and was up walking around by 11:30. The nurse told me I was not allowed to use the Gas S strips which I had taken along but was having some pain so as soon as she left the room I got my son to give them to me.:woot: Went for my barium swallow at 1:45 and I do have to admit that was nasty.:hurray: I was taken back to my room then and was given broth, diluted apple juice, sf jello and decaf coffee. Had a few bites of the broth which tasted mighty tasty I do have to say  and my doctor came back in at 3:45 and told me I could go home if I wanted, which needless to say I was taking off the hosptial gown and putting on my PJ top before he was back to the nurses station to do my discharge papers!!! Left the hospital and DH went to the pharmacy to get my drugs and I came home and slept the evening away. It has been 1 week today and I am feeling much better. Not 100 % yet but I am coming along. I have no regrets at all. I have lost 15 pounds in one week and am very happy about that. I have had some discomfort and some port pain but for the difference that it will make in my life that is nothing. I wish everyone that is reading this that you get the chance to do this surgery if it is want you want. I don't think that you will have any regrets. My surgeon and hospital staff were the tops. :mad2:

    question about diet?

I had my surgery 4/9 and the doctor told me pureed food until I see him in his office next week. If you want the food that you are eating puree it and you can still have it. I am allowed 1/4 cuo if pureed food 3 times daily pluse sugar free popsicles, sf jello, etc. I am doing great, have some swelling yet at port site and have lost 15 lbs since the 9th. Am very happy !!!!!!!!!!

    Banded !!!!!!!

I am only drinking what I can as I do not want to get sick . I am drinking Special K protein water and am able to drink about 2 bottles a day. I am also eating sugar free orange and cherry popsicles as I figured that was a way to get some fluids in me also. Other than the port pain and some swelling I am feeling A OK. I am only taking Tylenol for pain and my pain meds only at bedtime. With them I can go tobed, sleep on either side and get a good nights rest. I am not hungry at all and I think that is probaly due to the swelling in my stomach area. How about you???
  15. Well, I am finally banded. I was done on Thursday at 7:30 AM and was up walking by 11:30. I left the hoispital around 4:00 and I am having a good bit of pain at the port site. I know this is to be expected though and I just keeping thinking the worst is behind me and each day I will feel alittle better. No regrets at all !!!!!!! Will keep you posted on how I am doing and thanks for everyones encouragement.
  16. Tomorrow is finally the day. I am a little nervous and very excited. :glare: I will find out later today what time I am to be at the hospital and the time of my procedure. My bag is packed and the Gas X Strips are right on top !!! My DH and my oldest son who is a LPN are going with me. Any advice or words of wisdom from any already banded I should know ???

    Tomorrow is the day !!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 and surgery should be around 7:00. I am getting more than a little nervous but I cant wait for it to be over. I am mostly afraid of the anesthesia as I have never been put to sleep before. I will let you know tomorrow night how I made out. Thanks everyone.

    Set back in the plan....

I feel sorry for you. I know how disappointing this is. I was all set to go and then after I had all my appointments and submitted paperwork DH's employer had a clause that it did not cover weight loss surgery. I cried for a whole day, missed a day of work and thought this is BS and I am going to fight this, I did and two weeks later they called me and told me they had reconsidered and I could have the surgery done. I am scheduled for tomorrow, the 9th and cannot wait. Call the office and explain how discouraged you are and that it was not your fault that the screwup happened and ask to be put in or at least on a cancellation list. You may have to be flexible in your schedule incase they call and you may have to leave work. All good things are worth fighting for. Make yourself a pain in the butt and they will be tired to keep hearing from you. Good luck.
  19. I am on my liver shrink diet and I am to have a protein shake for breakfast, fruit mid morning, protein bar lunch, fruit mid afternoon, salad and 3 oz leat meat for supper, fruit and 6 unsalted crackers. fruit for evening snack. My surgery is April 6. Would it hurt to have a little extra lean meat? I am talking boneless skinless chicken strip marinated in fat free italian dressing done in the george forman. What do you think? :welldoneclap:
  20. I honestly thought about not telling anyone because I am so afraid of failing again that I thouhgt if no one knew then no one would know if I failed, but then again the more people that know the more support you have !!!!

    Will lean meat hurt

I have done very well, just sometimes my salad that I ordered at work for supper may have had more than the 3 oz of lean meat that it was suppose to have. Other than that I have done great.

    Will lean meat hurt

thanks I guess I will just be tough. Restless monkey did the doc not know going into the surgery that your liver was thick?? Don't you think that they should do a xray before hand to see if this is the case. I too am afraid of this. I think that my doctor will open you up and do it if they cannot do it lap.
