Hey PC I am in SC too. I live in North Augusta. I noticed that most of the triathlon activity in the state is in upstate...greenville area. I hope to be at or near goal by the end of February...goal being 200 ish. My wife loves to ride the bike but I don't think she will be into a triathlon but she continues to surprise me though.

Me personally I am going to start with local Sprint distance Triathlons to learn the ropes. I have never done it, never been to one, and only have seen parts of them on TV....but I figure I can swim, I can ride, and someday I will run. I haven't even attempted the running part yet...not til my weight gets to a more reasonable level.

I am in! :heh: :heh:

I am officially in Twoterville!!! A small milestone on the way to my goal weight but I have to say it feels good....no it feels GREAT! :heh:
-
Thanks all. Next milestone...250....my goal weight is 200 lbs. I am a broad shouldered guy and I think I look good at 200 ish...that might change when I get there but for now 250 is calling. My goal is to hit 250 by Thanksgiving.

I have Ultegra levers but the pads themselves are generics. It seems to stop pretty good though. I like the TCRs but I preferred the ride of the OCR...slightly tamer geometry but with all the goodies still. I rode an aluminum frame OCR, an aluminum/carbon Felt and the all Carbon OCR C2 and the all Carbon was head and shoulders a better riding bike....at least for me.

We need a challenge Forum...their are multiple "challenges" going on at once and it's hard to keep track. Has this ever been considered?

Tortillas really tick me off...so yeah I got a problem with them. :heh: :nervous

Need help finding people who make the wooden part of guns
BPM replied to Wheetsin's topic in The Lounge
Call a local gunshop...they can point you in the right direction. The wooden part is the stock on the rifle or shotgun and someone who makes these will be fairly hard to find. You can ask more questions on www.glocktalk.com It's a great "gun" website. -
It's the carbon Fiber version too. I dig it. I see you are training towards Ironman competitions...that is my goal as well. I will start with smaller triathlons with the goal of competing in an Ironman in 2008. Awesome stuff.

The number is different for everybody but the more you exercise then the more you can eat and still lose weight. That doesn't change.
-
Thanks....I think you might have put it in the wrong forum...but thanks anyways. Yay Me. :clap2: If I can lose at this rate....for the next 6 months...I am in. Fat chance I think being able to keep this pace though. Pun intended. :nervous

Great to hear you have a plan.....if you can do it with the band then you can do it without. Good luck.

I think it's just the weekend......board is slow on the weekend. If it gets up and running....I am in with my weight on Aug 05 being 304.2 lbs.
-
Thanks...I think I like the NSVs better than watching the scale move.

I had a meeting at work today and I had not seen a few of my subordinates since starting my weight loss journey. One of them came up and the first words out of their mouth was that it looked like I was melting away. I thought they were making a joke but they noticed I had lost a fair amount of weight.....the great thing is...nobody at work even knows I am dieting....so they weren't just being polite. :heh: I must say...that rocked...because I don't see it yet...but obviously they must.

Ok...my official Aug. 5th post. I rode the hell out of my bike last night to give one last push...... July 05 Starting Weight 321.4 Aug 05 Today's Weight 304.2 Total Weight Loss 17.2 lbs. Not bad considering I had a few setbacks eating wise but I am getting in the groove with riding the bike and various exercise. No more sitting on the couch all night watching TV.....nearly every night we've been out doing something...not always exercising....but at least something. This challenge was fun....and kept me engaged the entire month. Let's do more of them.

Me too...5lbs to twoterville.

Well in case I miss tomorrow's posting I will use this post as my update....if I lose any more I will try and post tomorrow on the official day. I started strong.....then slowed at the end of the race....a hectic work schedule cut into my exercise and an unfortunate incident with a pizza slowed my weight loss....:heh: however I still did pretty good. I am only about 5 or 6 weeks into this so the weight will come off rather quickly at first.....I must say that if I can lose 16lbs a month every month then I will be ecstatic. Starting Weight 321.4 Today's Weight 305.0 Weight Loss 16.4lbs. So who else is a big fat loser? :nervous

Also...if your doctors theory is correct....then estrogen wouldn't affect your weight loss any more than the amount of calories would affect your metabolism.
-
Your doctor disagrees apparently with the hundreds and thousands of other medical experts who will tell you that you body will go into desperation mode with too few calories. You will continue to lose weight but it will be weight from everything....fat and lean muscle. The point of maintaining calories in the right ratios and at a high enough level is to try and maximize the weight loss from fat and minimize the lean muscle loss. This has been proven over and over in numerous medical studies......If you do some research you will see.....that your doctor is not in agreement with the majority.

Best post in this thread! Nice job and Congratulations.

Another day, week, month, now year, not 1 lb......
BPM replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well....good luck then....sounds like you got it figured out. An onion....is certainly not adding a lot of calories IMHO.....a whole medium onion is about 40 calories. -
No scientific poll here but it seems to me the really fast losers....either start at a much heavier weight than most OR they are hardcore exercisers. It doesn't just happen....at least that has been my observation.
-
Better quality food and real exercise. 30 minutes on a treadmill at a flat incline and moderately leisure pace is a good way to start...but you won't lose weight quickly this way. Walking will take weight off...but you need to continually push to go further and do it faster to increase your load otherwise your body will simply adapt. I'd also try eating 5 small meals instead of 3 larger ones.
