  1. I guess if you don't get upset by what you see maybe its ok to weigh all the time. But if it ruins your mood maybe find a trusted soul to keep it except one a week. I am also a scale whore and I'm thinking about asking my DH to keep it somewhere I cant find it because I do get kind of ruined if it goes up a pound from day to day even though I know its meaningless...probably just too much salt on the rim of the glass the night before!

    Sticking together

Agreed. We rock. Thanks to all for the support and honest talk. I think some people got nasty on that thread because we are anonymous and because our worst fears are displayed in other peoples posts. No excuse for it though...my job is to cheer you all on and if you ASK for a bitch slap, (like I know sometimes I will need someone to say hey get back on track!) well, that's different! LOL!

    What about Caffine?

I guess my doc is a lenient one. I am drinking coffee and any number of different alcohol drinks and having no problem. He said ok to the carbonation too but I just know it will be a painful burp issue and I just dont crave it. There is such a HUGE variability in everyone's instructions , I think that's kind of strange but who am I to say? Cheers!!

    May 11th Surgery Stories

John, And for anyone else interested in my unsolicited advice. I always weigh on a monday because it keeps me in line for the weekend...if I weighed on a Friday I think I would have the feeling that I could make up for the weekend sins during the following week! I wish I would weigh once a month but very few people can have that kind of discipline! Theres a girl on here called Wendytip who does it though. I wish I could lock up my scale and then just have someone let me use it on a planned schedule...weighing more than once a week always kind of ruins me but it is always calling me from the closet!! Then theres one in my daughters bathroom and the WiiFit weighs you, and the doc's office...AaaaaHHHHH!
  5. Maybe we should all get together for a game of water pong! Seriously maybe a rainbow of the rubber band idea?
  6. Oh, I see you live in SM... I am up in Pismo. What doc are you going to? I had Dr. Oliak in Orange...all good. Good luck...one advice get an abdominal binder (walgreens etc) to keep your gut tucked in and help you sleep post op!!! Cali

    1st

I never had any surgery before either and now, three weeks later I am so sure this is the best thing I have ever done!! (well worth it even though I self-payed). I am free of the addiction for three whole weeks...no appetite, no hunger, no cravings, just doing my thing to get the protein and water in!! LOVE MY BAND!!! And down a jean size.

    5/27/09 Fancy Pants

I think I had those exact same acid washed pants!!! We called them paper bag jeans because you flipped the top down...they were so acid-washed that when you were about to step into them you could see beams of light coming in through the acid streaks!!

    Non Scale Victories!

I am down from a 16 Levis to a 14 and I dont even have to do the crazy-jeans-dance to get them on!I have a lot of sizes to go through before I will have to leave my own closet to shop!!
  10. Why not just stitch the BMI in place of the size!!! Or, the lazy girl's way...just write over the tag with a sharpie!!Maybe I'll write my weight and my BMI in the 16s somewhere to preserve the memory!!

  11. I thought I'd chime in on the soda...thought I would DIE without diet coke but strangely I have no taste for it...I asked my doc specifically id carbonation would damage the band even right aftersurgery and he saidabsolutely not. He had a smile on his face and said go ahead and have your soda, but you wont like it! He said the carbonation goes through to the former big stomach and then it can be hard and painful to burp it up!I havent ried it yet but just aregular water burp is fairly unpleasant! Cali

  12. My BMI is now 33.6 down from 36.9...youre ahead of me there!!

    May 11th Surgery Stories

Dear john, You're doing great...back away from the scale!!! I have to give myself the same advice though...as long as we are doing what we are supposed to , it will come off!

Just a girl looking for hope I am hoping this is the right place

You will find lots of support here and lots of stories and photos to motivate you...good luck whatever you decide...
  15. I think you CAN succeed with the band because you are aware of what the issues may be. I am not worried that your husband will make you or let you cheat around the band. My concern is for you with a husband who would taunt or sabotage you. This will likely only get worse as you get skinny if he stays fat. I think you and your band will succeed but without some work your relationship may not...good luck, maybe time to find out what your spouse really means by these sabotages and taunts...

    Shout to the Top!

I have read a lot of your blogs and specifically the one that made the one girl question going through with it. I couldnt determine what put her off...your post are realistic and very human but only made me want the band more...write on!
  17. I am also 5'4" so were basically twins. And that girl Lellow is our future!! I am out of my 16 Levis and into the 14s so I'm happy about that. I did love the baggy feeling of the 16s which I could take off and put on without unbuttoning or in zipping but they looked kind of gnarly! The 14s did give me a bit of a dunlop (or muffin top) but then they stretched out a little! When do you start your preop diet? Cali

  18. You really carry your weight well. Please dont tell me you are five foot nine!!! I will be thinking of you on your surgery date...Cali

  19. Basically you are supposed to be on a diet and get at least 60gms of protein and 64oz of water for life and the band is supposed to help. Sounds like yours is NOT helping. Also around 1000 cals a day. How much is in your band so far? Also I would consider asking my doc for a barium swallow so they can actually see how small or large the 'stream' is as it passes through your band...either you dont have enough fill or theres a leak...good luck, hang in there! Cali

Are you hungry or is it your brain???

I, too, am just really gateful to have had this procedure...I'm still not hungry at all!! Before all this I always heard the way to tell the two types of hunger is by thinking of eating a food you dont really care for...if you are truly hungry you dont care what it is but if its head hunger you just have to have that one perfect thing! Good luck, Cali

    Update on the leak...

Sorry for your bad experience...I also think the doc should waive part of the fee!! For those of you who arent banded yet, my doc says the Realize has much thinner silicone walls where the saline is than the Allergan (regular old lap band) and thats why he doesnt use it.
  22. Only one piece of wisdom...get that abdominal binder...it gets you sleeping back in your bed and n a normal position faster...I guess they sell them at Walgreens...you will be surprised how much gravity pulls on your gut. I guess you'll be getting one in surgery like i did though...unless it was somehow related to the hernia repair...who knows...ask him! All I can say is my mind is free of thoughts of food an anything (the $, the pain) is worth it...I know I will loosen up as I lose the intra abdominal fat but at least I know the good effects of having it snug!! I will be thinking of you on the 8th...you better keep me posted!

  23. I cant believ how good you look! It looks like you carried your weight in the middle like me and you really have a tiny waist now...that really gives me hope!!! Thanks so much for posting. I guess the TT scar is just below the top of the swimsuit bottoms? You really got a fantastic result! Cali
