Would This Be Good For Post-Op Full Liquids?
xavier replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No way. Thats just a dessert...you need protein, not cookies! -
I drove home from my lap band surgery the fourth day and it was 5 hours...no problem.

Hang in, it will all be worth it...and dont bash the cpap until it is medically determined that you are getting enough oxygen when you sleep! Depriving your brain of oxygen is not good and has serious consequences, not just being tired the next day...that cpap is whispering to you to move forward!!!

What Comes After Mushies?
xavier replied to lgm217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To me they are the same (mushies and soft) real food is after that....and should be chewed to mushy consistency. -
Pysch Eval Tomorrow 03/13
xavier replied to jen043454's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They just want to see that you have dieted successfully in the past and know the basics of what is realistic to expect (you dont wake up a size 6)...be honest and you will be fine! Its almost just a checklist type of formality so they can say they did it. -
Not a big deal...this whole thing is a very long process and there is no such thing as perfection...

Getting there depends on your docs fill schedule. Some give as little as a half a cc every 4-6 weeks in which case you have many months of wondering what your band is doing in there, if anything. This time is called Bandster Hell. If you have time I recommend reading this blog from start to at least the point where you are in your journey...shes a wonderful person who lost 100 pounds in a year and never dieted or exercised. She will answer questions you havent even thought of yet! http://bandgroupiethesweetspot.blogspot.com/ For me I had three fills which put me at 6cc in a 10cc band and that was my first green zone. I lost weight pretty easily there but the band loosens up as you lose the fat that is actually on your stomach. My second green was at 7.7cc and that landed me at 155 pounds. I really wanted to get to normal BMI (145) so I got a tiny fill of 0.3cc and I got to 140 in about 3 months...My weight doesnt fluctuate at all now and I am crazy happy! Please ask us anything! This is a great site!!!

How Long Am I Going To Have To Wait For Restriction?
xavier replied to Violet953's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, some docs do that but some seem to have an incentive ($) for giving tiny fills. They will tell you its so you can adjust but if you dont have restriction I'm not sure what you are adjusting to! My fist doc gave small fills but at short intervals which was fine. But I found a doc 4 hours closer to me and she does the fill you till you choke method...love her! -
Oh I do use the plain greek yogurt on my refried beans as sour cream...

Yogurt of any kind makes me gag! I put hot sauce or salsa on cottage cheese but it seems most people prefer a fruit thing. I also sometimes eat those new Bel Vita breakfast cookies...they have a few grams of protein and are good to have in my purse.Lots of nuts and those little rectangles of cheese.

Food porn! I hate it but I used to hate it for temptation and now I hate it because its disgusting! The people biting into a huge sloppy burger makes my stomach lurch! Watching people in a restaurant put food in their already-full mouths makes me have to look away!

Smart girl! Best of luck! -
My band is exactly like my wedding ring. Very tight in the morning (coffee or shakes only) and a little looser than I would like in the evenings. After dinner I do have to have some will power. Why did you get unfilled?

New To The Lap Band Journey.
xavier replied to cminch's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I always tell people who are just starting out to read a blog called the sweet spot. It is so funny and sweet and she has been thru everything you are about to go through, including the 6 month diet and all the approval stuff. I advise to start on her first entry and just take your time and read it all. She lost 100 pounds in a year and really never exercised or dieted. http://bandgroupiethesweetspot.blogspot.com/ -
Me too...lots of crazy noises!

Has anyone had Megaesophagus?
xavier replied to jyalbani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a stretched out esophagus and yes it will go down. But you will need to find a way to change the behavior that caused you to eat more than your pouch could hold and stuff food into the lower esophagus... -
Help!! Almost Two Years Out And I Am Stuck
xavier commented on racheros73's blog entry in Blog 95421
If you journaled or blogged take a look back and see what worked...also at least consider a tiny fill. -
How Long Am I Going To Have To Wait For Restriction?
xavier replied to Violet953's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No it sucks...thats why its called Bandster Hell because its like not having a band. I got to 6cc in my 10cc band with three fills and that was my first green zone...you do lose it as you lose weight so I had to get fills twice more to get to to more green zones to lose it all. On the bright side some docs give 1cc or half a cc every six weeks, I suspect some of them make money doing this but it is shameful to put us through that! Best of luck, the waiting is the hardest part! -
The cheapest most nutritious food is beans! I eat them all the time and if you use the dry kind (have to soak overnite) they are practically free. I sautee and onion in some olive oil and add some spices and then dump that, the beans, and some veg broth in the crockpot and it is so easy and delicious!

After 7 Years, I Join The Slipped Band Club
xavier replied to giveyouthemoon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you know if your new band is sewed in place? My doc sews all his down and has never has a slip. I have thrown up a lot the first year and never had a problem... -
The risk of complications where your band might need to be replaced are less than your daily risk of the consequences of continued obesity.Other silicone devices have lasted a lifetime but the band hasnt been around long enough to know...
-
Its just a matter of time! It sounds like you are doing everything just right and you just have to wait it out. Patience is the hardest part about the banded life I think!

I like the agave nectar...fake sugars are bad for you in a lot of ways including making us fat. Unless you are diabetic real sugar is ok.

What Can I Take For A Headache?
xavier replied to lgm217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best thing for any headache is water and no screen (TV and computer!)...but on occasion I do take liquid or chewable advil. but I have never had any stomach problems. Tylenol is better if you have ever had ulcers or gastritis. -

Seems like the best thing would be just to ask him what his feelings are and what he meant by the remark. To "try to get him on it too" may be perceived as criticism which since you didnt like it, he probably wont either. Just tell him he hurt your feelings and ask what is behind it.
