10/14/09 What Goes Around Comes Around

You really do look great in both! I had those neck ribbons too...in many colors! LOL!
  2. Hot drinks loosen up the connective tissue I think like loosening up a strained muscle rather than reducing inflammatory swelling...I wish these questions were multiple choice...LOL!! D

    10/14/09: I like to blog!!!

If you dont drink them the rest of the month give them out on Halloween night...the kids are eating candy the whole time they are walking around and they get very thirsty....the extra sugar wont hurt them that night!

    Frustrations

Hang in there, dont quit! A year from now the band date wont seem that important...good luck!
  5. You are right on all counts, as usual, oh, wise one! I think you are right about gravity but maybe not exactly what you were thinking...you're suggestion brought me back to some of the classes I think I have long forgotten. While we sleep and lie down all night much of our fluid in the body moves from inside our cells to outside (the extracellular space!) and now I think this is why we are tighter in the am but I really dont know if I can remember why that fluid shift would do that but now I'm sure it does!

Long haul, long haul, long haul...D

    10/13/09 The Sweet Spot

Wow! Great blog...that really sums it all up.I really think the sweet spot is when there is a balance of what the band does for you and the changes you have to make for yourself and that will be the key to keeping it off!I think I need another fill and I couldnt get on the schedule till Nov. 6th...oh well.I am just trying to think long term! D
  7. Well I hope I get tighter becaue right now...nothing. And I cant get in for another fill till Nov 6th! The office seems very busy. Well I just have my fingers crossed that, like uou, it snugs down...the thing is, it was my first fill (3ccs) in a 10cc band!I just dont see how it can tighten up later but really the whole thing is a bit of a mystery!!

  8. Thanks for the great info! Do you ar your doc know why the fill doesnt kick in for a few days? I got a fill on Friday and I dont notice any difference but maybe I should wait till later in t he week to decide if I should go back. I have to drive about 4 hours to get to the office so I want to be sure I need it...thanks again for the info, I wonder how many other people have had that kind of 'delayed' sense of restriction?

  9. I was reading one of your comments on Band Groupie's blog and I have a question. Just got my first fill yesterday even though I got my band in May...I was lucky not to need it until now. Anyway, you said something like "the fill I got just kicked in"...how long after the fill did you perceive its effect? I figured I wont know till tomorrow when I am allowed to eat solids...what do you think? Thanks, D

    10/9/09 It was GRAND!

Wow! You and you DH are pretty good photogs! Nice capture of the different lighting. The whole safety thing is pretty scary but I still think we are all more likely to slip, fall, and die in our own bathtubs, arent we?!At least that's what I tell myself when I am waiting to catch a wave out in the ocean and thinking about how the dolphins I saw yesterday looked like sharks!! Plus I'd rather have my headstone say something about the grand canyon or a shark than I fell in the tub!!D
  11. Just sent you a long gincko mail...Life is good ,D

  12. Hey! I am getting my first fill on friday...got stuck the other nite on dry pasta and wondering if that means I don t need a fill?! Other times I swear i can eat anything and everything!! As you know I got 2cc at time of surgery and it had to be taken out that nite...how much do you think I should ask for??

  13. Hey, I miss you dude! I had a job in Sacramento for the last three months...really needing a fill but couldnt get away...long story short...I am just happy not to have gained LOL! Getting a fill in two weeks, my first.

I am guessing you re buried in work and work stress....write or blog when you can. D

    me

You look fantastic and so happy!!!
  15. Your pictures are great...I know what you mean about being able to see the difference on yourself. I think a lot of us have that problem. Here's a couple of suggestions. Take a current front and side view in the EXACT same position as the first one and then cut out your skinny self (literally, with scissors) and lay it over the original one...I think you'll see a huge difference. Suggestion two: Lay your biggest jeans or pants down on your bed and then your current ones on top and take a picture...look at those pictures as often as possible!!! Good luck!

8/14/09 Taking the Bad with the Good

Well I dont think that a half a pound is a real thing...on the other hand I stayed the same this week and was feeling ok about it until I realized I have stayed the same for a month!!! Cant decide whether to go for a fill or try to just get back on track myself...I am scared to death of a fill after the first one and I will plan to stay overnite down there in case it goes badly again...not even sure if I need one or just a bitch-slap! But I am only home for two weeks and then back to Sacramento for a month so I kind of have to decide soon! Just whining...D

    I've got mail!

I think the psych part is to see if you are realistic about the whole thing. No magic weight loss, people wont love you more, and no, you wont have a unicorn show up in the back yard because youre skinny...good luck!!

8/12/09 My Heart's in the Right Place

I can't help myself so here goes...if he didn't know what the port was for he knows NOTHING about lap banding...so the comment about so many people gaining it back is actually not accurate but IS accurate for gastric bypass. (Less lifestyle, less difficult to lose weight, so less true behavior change...sorry if any GBers are offended...whatever works) My nurse practitioner gave me a long lecture about all the patients she has seen with nutritional (iron, B12, and other vitamins) deficiencies. I was nice enough not to tell her she's talking about GB! They dont even know the difference! Actually the long term data on the LB and keeping it off is very good! OK, I'm done! Glad youre well, sounds like he knows his cardiology at least!!

    Big fat cheater

Wow...over here across the pond (JK. I Know youre an Aussie) you would have already lawyered up to sue his ass! Maybe say in a loud voice, "Thats my confidential medical info, I'm sure you don't go telling everyone about your long struggle with genital herpes!" Do whatever makes you feel better...he really does deserve a bitch-slap (Americal slang?)

    Can Anyone help????

First, is she eating too little? (at 1000 cals or less you go into starvation mode). Second is she at a good restriction fill-wise? Third, Even a little exercise may bump things along! Good luck...I'm no expert but that sounds really frustrating for her1
  21. Here's american slang for you, "DUH!" meaning I cant believ I am so stupid I assumed (dont know why) youwere a brit...I did that to another aussie and apparently didnt learn from my mistake! I saw your bandster profile and saw that liek me you self payed but I wonder how the AUD converts...I payed $15,000...ouch! Our healthcare system is a joke. But worth it so far. Guess I was whinging there.

  22. I see you're just joining...welcome...lots of great support and brutally honest answers here...your ticker indicates you must be a low BMIer...that can make it tough because people with a couple of hundred to lose lose faster than us...let me know if theres anything you need or want to know!

    My Ticker

Ticker TUTORIAL (WITH PICTURES!) I think this is the link..or if you put 'sticky' in the search terms of forums and go to the last page of all the stuff that pops up. Hope this helps...

    My Ticker

Do you know what the 'sticky' threads are? They are ones where the title is always brought back up to the top of the list beause they are so useful...I( think they are under the home page or maybe forums...anyway the reason I'm saying this is that one of them is the ticker instructions...not that I'm sayin' you need it but... Honestly I cant remember how I did mine!LOL!

Called off the surgery - anyone feeling this way?

I wonder if you could have had some blood drawn when you were feeling bad to see what caused it. I dont thinks its normal to get those significant symptoms on protein shakes...if it was water only, I'd say yes.Hypoglycemia or some electrolyte balance an be serious and it should probably be diagnosed before you decide what to do. You know whats best for you.Good luck, trust yourself.
