  1. WOW! You are a BEAUTIFUL after picture!!! Thanks so much for putting up all your pictures!! I am wondering how the recovery/pain was from your body lift compared to getting the band? Or even compared to having a baby?!? LOL! You are inspiring so many of us!!! Thanks!

  2. Rededicated myself to the band...no more drinking with meals to get my 'money's worth' in a restaurant, more water in between, counting cals and protein, a little treadmilling and...drumroll here...I lost three pounds!!!!...well sort of because I had gained two and been living at 187 for quite a while but never added them to my ticker...184 today!D

    1/18/10 I?m Starting A New Movement!

Great blog!!! LOL! Eat one raw carrot a day and call me in the morning!! D
  4. Saw your post about being stuck on BG's message board...me too! I think I am at perfect restriction but have decided to start writing all my intake down so I cant lie to myself...good luck! D

    Still a long time away!

Please find a doc that favors the band over the bypass...it makes a world of difference!

Have you ever had vomiting with the flu?

Why not empty the band? And why, if you do, would it be weeks to get it filled again? Please think of your health first.

How do you know your sweet spot?

I was lucky to have perfect restriction on an empty band for almost two months after the procedure, but it does loosen up as you lose wieght and since I have had a couple of fills. I know I am at my sweet spot because with the right foods (non sliders!)I simply CANT overeat more than a half or three quarters of a cup of food. Its weird to keep discovering what the sliders are and its hard to give them up.Nuts are a good test for me and a good way to fill up to nearly painfully full and get protein. I can only eat about quartercup of those! Hang in there, you'll know when you're there!

    almost 1 week pre-op, concerned.....

On the one hand you are prob a lucky person who didnt get much swelling at the site of the band...but that probably means its wide open so its like you dont have it at all and you wont untill you get the right amount of fill!!! Dont worry about two eggs...this phase is called bandster hell because until you get to the right fill you feel like you went thru all this for nothing...hang in there!
  9. I have finally started exercising to get over this plateau. . I think I could forget the whole thing and just stay here at 185 but obviously that's not what I want. I have been overeating a bit and cheating by drinking with meals so I am rededicating myself to following the band rules and getting on that treadmill! I do let myself drink with food when I am out with people who dont know about the band otherwise I can only eat such a tiny amount of food they would know for sure...(but, I have done it out with my family in a restaurant I think because I feel like I SHOULD be able to eat normal amount which would be fine for a special occasion but these really arent!) I really can barely eat a cup of food but with drinking I can triple that I think...bad I know. The struggle continues!!!

MY tagline should be "best 15K I ever spent!" Good luck! D

Looks like his arms could go around you twice...beautiful!!!
  11. You are always an inspiration! I thoughtI'd add my two cents about your discussion with Kartman about intensity vs duration. Yes, they do equal out. I takes the same amount of energy to climb a hill whether you wlk or run.One is faster and more intense and the other is longer and easier in intensity but on the same hill the work achieved(calories burned) are exactly the same! keep doing what you are doing and setting n example for us!!

Best thing for sleep...(and for stress, and water intake, and constipation, and everything else)...exercise! But you already knew that. But for sleep dont exercise close to bedtime..and if you DO exercise let me know cuz I need the shame! Hang in there...D
  14. Second day of treadmill this week...walked at 3mph...ran for ONE minute at 4mph!LOL!

1/12/10 Party in My (Fat) Pants!

Congrats!!!!!!! If you do buy those pants ( I think its a great idea!) we ALL want to see a picture of you in them!Your waist looks so small in that picture!!! A half pound from normal...how about a haircut and a brutal exfoliation?!?
  16. Hope your preop diet is not going too bad...the way I look at it, whatever loose now is staying off which is the great part about the band. Im sure you have read a lot of people on here whose docs are really stingy with fills...you'll love Dr. O because he and his PAs just give you one whenever you say you want one (after your post op healing period I guess). Im sure I have told you I had perfect restriction on an empty band for about six weeks after the surg...it was awesome and other than my crzy work schedule it was easy to get it back later when it loosened up....good luck..D

    1/6/10 Hysterical

OK, I am LOVING the 'Shaper Monologues' !!! I really dont see that much difference...size is hard to tell in the photo but the jeans look like they fit the same to me. Now under a slinky dress it may make a real difference but jeans (for me) ARE a shaper!! PS I think you look great either way!!

    1/5/10 Body Shapers

Not sure what the price range is but maybe we could cut the crotch out? I would hate to ruin one if its expensive and of course you'd have to live in fear of a car accident!! The good thing about the wetsuit idea is you would probably sweat off ten more pounds but you would look a little funny lying in your chaise! At least put a surfboard next to you!
  21. I have no doubt you will do just that. I feel that I am at a good place restriction-wise and that I have to start getting some exercise to get off this plateau! I have so many silly excuses I could write a book...I would usually wish you good luck but I really dont think you'll need it. I hope you'll be blogging, maybe the details of your preop diet will help others...by that, of course, I mean ME!

  22. Been out of town for a while without the laptop so..WOW, WOW, and WOW!!! You are amazing and a role model to so many...mainly me!!!

    Biggest Loser Fall 09

The worst thing about those pants was that they didnt fit her...they should have been tailored to drape the normal way instead of bunching up towards the crotch! I would have wanted to cry if I saw myself in those on TV...isnt there a style consultant?

    12/16/09 Heartburn Relief?

Nexium is encapsulated to make it a sustained release medication so it's effect should last the 24 hours until you take another one. If you cut or open it...you are getting all the med at once or half the med (if you are taking half a capsule) at once which is meant to be slowly released over 12 hours...probably better to just taper off with something else that is not sustained release like some over the counter Zantac or equivalent...something that requires more frequent dosing. Pepcid or even Tums or the mixture of same ...keep at the bedside. I do however admire your inventive spirit on the pill cutting!
