I think of it that sleeve and GB are for people who cant do a significant amount of behavior change and are willing to take a higher risk because of it. The band is hard work, you have to change your ways, but its a brief and easy surgery with less risk.

Everyone goes through this ! Be nice to yourself you arent supposed to be perfect! Everybody had several last suppers before surgery to say goodbye to certain foods and then most of us found out we never had to because we can still eat small amounts of anything! There are two kinds of people here...those that cheated and those that havent admitted they cheated! Good luck!

Dear Sooner, The only way you can fail this is to quit. If I had to be on a lifelong diet I would fail too. I am at a level of restriction where I simply cannot overeat...I think you may need a fill! Good luck...be nice to yourself!

Bandster Hell can last many months depending on how cheap your doc is with the fills! Green zone is also called sweet spot. For me it is when I really am uncomfortable if I eat more then 3/4 to 1 cup of anything!

6cc in my 10cc band was also nothing...I got good restriction around 7 I think and then lost it twice as I lost weight. The last fill was 0.3cc only but it kicked off the last 15 pounds!

Tell Me About Your Feet After Losing Weight
xavier replied to GLove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 48 and yes my feet went down a size. I never had bad foot pain but my knees and back had bad arthritic pain. MY knees are 100% perfect now and my back only bothers if I do crazy stuff. -
Tightness In Chest While Eating
xavier replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Normal and as long as you are getting fluids and nutrition you are fine and it will loosen up as you lose weight. -
I dont know too much about them but are they the ones with all the billboards? That bothers me a bit as I kind of dont think good docs advertise with billboards. I had Dr Oliak in Orange and I checked out Dr. Davytan who has a band himself. Dr Oliak has a complication rate of zero...never had any erosions, slippage, port flips etc. He sews your band in place so it really cant slip and he has a mesh procedure for the port so I dont think it can flip. I love that guy and feel like I owe him my (new) life!

Approval Seems A Bit Too Easy.
xavier replied to tsteves1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I hope it is that simple for you. I have heard a few people for whom it was like that! What is the $3000 for if it is 'covered'? -
A. Plenty of us drink with a strw and you could certainly just spoon up the boba if you wanted. B. Anything kind of gummy like that can be tricky but I have done ok with it.

First Lap Band Fill Today And Still Vomiting
xavier replied to melgreen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you cant even keep down liquids you need to see your doctor...now. -
Hiccups are a muscle spasm of the diaphragm and may just be continued healing or even that combined with a little irritation at the liquid going down, This can depend on the temperature of the liquid...they can be unpleasant but I think it will pass.

Is Lap-band Right For Me?
xavier replied to Claym325's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You get lots of help from the band but you absolutely have to be ready, willing, and able to make changes in your behavior. -
Staff Giving Confusing Information About Projected Weight Loss
xavier replied to bev712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much weight you lose and what size bites to take is highly variable and depends on your behavior. If you want to lose it all you can...seriously they are just guessing! -
You must be in good order with nutrition and exercise to feel better...

First Fill And Frustrated
xavier replied to TracyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes you are being unrealistic. Both my docs have said if your band is half full or less (5cc in a 10cc band) you just really dont have your band doing anything at all...hang in there,,,this is Bandster Hell and it can be months before you get enough fill to have restriction! -
Started Solids Early.... Concerns (warning Tmi)
xavier replied to BylawTom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefully your body punishing you for eating that will stop you from doing it again. If you try hard you can defeat this band and stay fat. -

Antibiotic Capsule Stuck - What Should I Do?
xavier replied to stephinoz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It will eveniually pass but the doc who prescribed it should have known about your band and given you a liquid! -

Help!!! Experienced Bandsters
xavier commented on Fabulous Sasha's blog entry in Fabulous Sasha's Blog
Like my wedding band, my band is tight in the morning and I have no appetite. By the after-dinner time it is super loose and I could snack all evening! Yes, I would talk to your doc. 1200 cals a day if you can stick with it will eventually put you close to a normal BMI. If any overweight or obese person tells you they are eating 1200 cals a day for a year and staying heavy thats just incorrect. You could either get a tiny fill or just wait out the plateau. I got to 155 and stayed there a long time and then finally went in and got 0.3cc and my weight went right down to 145 in about 6 weeks. -
This site is not very user friendly and they keep changing it and it is getting worse! Hard to find things and I know a lot of people have ditched this site completely in favor of Facebook groups...

Anyone Suffer From Acid Reflux?????
xavier replied to New Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never had the endoscopy but I have had GERD on and off for years. Yes, getting a fill with greater restriction has made it worse but at this point it is well-controlled by Protonix. Also I dont eat after about 6pm or I will wake up with it. A lot of people get a fill, have reflux, and get unfilled and then are disappointed by not losing enough weight. I have chosen to control it with meds and press on and now I am happily in maintenance! But if I miss even one day of that Protonix..I get it bad!
