3 Months Banded-new To Forum
xavier replied to Mommysband's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is a device that you wear on your arm that tracks your activity and steps taken and then you download it and put in what you eat...there is also Body Bug (seen on Biggest Loser)and Fitbit which seems to be the most popular and is available at Best Buy. Fitbit is tiny and it hooks up to myfitnesspal and you can friend all your peeps so you are all together on there...I think it costs around $80. -
Are you still on clear liquids? Thats just broth, water, gatorade, and the clear protein drinks like Isopure. But if you are on to the (full liquids) creamy soups all the ones that come in the cartons (not cans) are pretty good. Some are V8 brand and some are others. Butternut squash, tomato, and roasted red pepper are my faves. YOu can add your protein powder to them.I guess you can also put the more chunkier soups in the blender.

Good luck to you! Its a great adventure...I would advise you to get a little exercise if you can now...it will help with your recovery!

Banded 1/16/12 Starting To Get Really Scared
xavier replied to macewindu79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If food is more important than your health go ahead and cancel...its as simple as that. I eat very tiny meals of really good food and I do enjoy everything I eat. -
I just LOVE my band...I never thought I would be where I am and I know some people of course are going to have complications and fail but its not their fault. But I think the vast majority that fail the band need a procedure that is much less dependent on behavior change. I think that is what the psych evals are trying to determine but that is hard to predict...I didnt know if I could change my behavior enough so how can the psychologist really know? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my band!

Thanks Caz...PS: LOVE your ticker...rock on!

You are on the road to something wonderful and will get a lot of support here! Best of luck...I LOVE my band!

Support group, doctor visit, and therapy...you can only fail this if you quit!

The exact same thing can happen to people whether they have the band or not. Hot dogs choke a ton of people every year and are not recommended for young kids...that being said...chew your dang food, people!

Help, I Feel Gurgling When I Drink
xavier replied to shay33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very normal and if you are lucky it means you have some decent restriction early on. As long as you are getting in your fluids, protein, and (chewable or liquid) vitamins you are fine! -
I am exactly like hummingbird. I do liquids in the morning, 1/2 cup meals during the day and have to be careful in the evening when my band is looser. I feel I am at perfect restriction for me and that this life is pretty easy for me now.

1 Yr Post Band, Struggling To Keep Food Down

coffee ground emesis = blood Go to your doctor! -
Not sure what you mean by MOST of us. That implies more than half of banders are not happy with it and the statistics say otherwise. I feel for you but the band works for MOST people. Its not really luck either...it is HUGE behavior change.

Only Had One Fill And Sooo Full
xavier replied to Gizmo29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you are getting enough fluids and nutrients (protein but maybe mushy, not meat) you are fine and will probably lose weight easily. You do not need to be eating chunks of meat for now and once you lose a few pounds it will probably loosen up. I had good restriction and then lost it and had to get filled twice as I lost weight and fat is lost under the band. -
I think your surgeon has a brand preference and then decides the size when you are on the table and he can have a look. I have a 10cc Allergan and it has 8cc in it which is perfect for me to maintain.
-
Well I for one lost all my weight and more. I am thrilled with what my band has done for me and proud of what I have done to get here. it was a long learning process but these days its pretty easy! LOVE my band and would and do recommend it!

How many CC is your Lap Band Filled until you're not hungry?
xavier replied to Carfigure's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I lost most of my weight at 6cc in a 10cc band, then plateaued, got 1.7ccs, got to 155 and got that last tiny fill to get to and beyond normal BMI of 145. -

I have 8cc in a 10cc band (I think) and I am in the green zone. I was there twice before and then plaeaued and got fills. The last one was only 0.3cc but it helped me get off the plateau of 155 pounds. The one before was 1.7 I think...they will show up on my ticker when I post. -
Lots of people are going to tell you to bump up the calories a bit and that may work. But if you just wait it out you will lose. Trust me there is not an overweight or obese person on this planet who eats that many calories a day long term, even if they dont exercise...the weight will come off but if its too slow for you, make a change.
