Nausea After Rebuckling Of Band
xavier replied to Marianne390's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If Tums helps it sounds like heartburn (gastro esophageal reflux disease) and you probably need to be on a daily pill for it...I take Protonix. -
Two different things. For me restriction is I can only eat about a half or 3/4 cup of any food at one time and I feel very full and if I take one or two more bites I am in pain. Sometimes I stilll get stuck but it is from not chewing or eating too fast if I am distracted.

How Long Have You Been Banded And Have You Had Any Trouble?
xavier replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded may of 09 no problems at all. I threw up quite a bit at first (I was a slow learner) but my doc stitches his bands in place so you cant get a slip. I never got why your friend had it removed instead of corrected??? -
B-52 knows what he is talking about...you are in bandster hell meaning no help from the band and you are just on another (failing) diet!!! Be nicer to yourself...you will need a few fills before your band is stronger than your kids or your boredom! I always tell people to read the blog of band_groupie, especially the part about bandster hell!

Can Weight Loss Cause Gout? Please Respond With Helpful Input...
xavier replied to NYdad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Weight loss is supposed to be good for gout but dehydration will increase it. Also, if you really do have gout, you cant eat meat on a daily basis or you are making it worse. Gout meds are just a bandage for the symptoms instead of reducing the purines in the diet and staying well-hydrated. -
If you have to wait 15 minutes, you are probably not hungry anymore and should just stop.

Calling All Low Bmi Banders!!!!
xavier replied to KimJ384's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is your level of restriction? I was a low BMIer so I had to self pay. For me restriction is I am full and satisfied on 1/2 to 3/4 cup of any food and if I eat two more bites I am miserable...I have 8cc in a 10cc band and have been in maintenance for a couple of months. When I was losing I lost about 6 pounds a month when I had good restriction. Yes, it goes slower if you start off less obese. -

Biotin In A Capsule
xavier replied to petiteflower70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard from two people here that they got a pill stuck and damaged their band to the point of having an erosion...why risk it! I chew all pills or take liquids... -
I have tried it both ways and it never made any difference in terms of feeling full or satisfied or for how long...

Thanks, coco! I guess we are the motivated and informed patients! Great! I do think a lot of band failure comes from the doc's office not really knowing who has real addiction/depression/ psych issues and who just needs a little reigning in! The former group has the deck against them, I think. I am sure that's what the psych evals are for but I dont think you can really uncover all that in one office visit!

It bothers me that you are blaming the clinic for you year of regurg etc...this is ultimately your body, your responsibility and I think you know it.

Generally this site just sucks and is unbelievably not user friendly! It has gotten worse with every 'improvement"! I have had about two/thirds of my friends deleted and now recently I have noticed my before and after pics have disappeared! On the other hand, the people on here are generally great, supportive, honest, and wise so its still sort of worth it! Alex is the main moderator but I suspect he isnt real!

Visible Port Bump After Tummy Tuck?
xavier replied to xavier's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
He did say mine will move down a bit and that he would 'dig a hole' under it to help it sit lower...I think he meant lipo a hole under it! I really just cant decide if I want to do it at all! -
Been Eyeing This Group For 17 Months. I'm In Baby
xavier replied to losethemess's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
agree with b52...if it was that hard...how can you do it for life? (is your band really working for you?) -
Lisa, how long have you been at your current weight? Whenever I had a long plateau I got a tiny fill and started losing easily again! I was almost going to give up and be happy at 180, then at 155 (two long [plateaus) but I self paid and really wanted to get to normal BMI! My last plateau-busting fill was only 0.3cc and it took me to 140 in two months where i am happily living now! I LOVE this band!

Can A True Addict Succeed With The Lap Band?

Worried It Will Effect My Life In A "negative" Way.
xavier replied to dimplzjs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
These are really good questions and if you really would rather have parties than be healthy this may not be for you. I can eat and drink at a party and definitely enjoy both. Bit you have to be really ready and willing to change your behavior with the band to succeed. Have you considered gaining the 8 pounds to qualify? I would have had to gain 29 pounds s I did self pay. -
Moderate drinker before and after...

Unrealistic Weight Goal ??
xavier replied to pink dahlia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone's goal can be their range of normal BMI. I think your group leader has no business making statements like that! Disregard! -
keep doing what you are doing regardless of the scale!

Sometimes The News Media Is To Much!!!!
xavier replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The number sewn into your clothing is meaningless and has already changed over the years. I consistently wear a size 6 at Gap and Ann Taylor but I am 15 pounds heavier than when I was in my 20s and wore a 4! We all know whether we are overweight or not without looking at a scale or at the size of clothing! I am in the normal BMI range and that is all that matters. -
Mine made no difference...really fast procedure (45 min total) and easy recovery...not much pain just sore.

seems like my before and after pix are gone...starting to hate how user-unfriendly this site has become!
