2002 Band, Gerd, Esophagus Issues, Slacker About Followup
xavier replied to sujormik's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No flaming..we all have our issues and thats why we ended up here! You just need to go to a lap band doc and bite the bullet and let him send you for the tests you need (evaluation of the esophagus). Dont blame yourself but do force yourself to get this looked at and taken care of!! -
I never liked exercising nor could I stick to a program so I didnt exercise other than a few dog walks since my band. I lost all my weight and am just maintaining now. Band_groupie whose blog is called the sweet spot lost 100+ pounds after her band also without exercising. Not because of an injury but just not a big part of her (or my ) lifestyle.

My doc says the mesh prevents a flip which none of us want...my doc has never had a single flip yet...maybe ask him why hes thinking about not doing the mesh...best of luck!

Still Getting Neck Pain, 1 Month After Surgery.
xavier replied to armymom2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it seems like it comes on when you eat, try eating half as much at a meal for a day or two...if it goes away you'll know you need to eat less or eat slower. -
How Much Is Everyone Able To Eat?
xavier replied to ccsbulldog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing is I am sure you are eating a lot less than before the band (we were all massively overeating or we wouldnt have been obese). For me, (an old dog in maintenance a long time) I eat about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food at each meal which can be 4 to 5 times a day. I really cant eat more than that of any food (I have no sliders) and I done eat any low cal or diet food. As I lost weight my band did loosen and I had to get fills to keep losing. My first green zone was at 6cc in a 10 cc band and took 3 fills to get there. Then I leveled off at about 180 lbs for MANY months until I figured out to go get a fill. Once I did I started losing again easily and then I plateaued at 155...I got 0.3ccs and in a couple of months went to 140. -
Anyone Else Feel Like A Class Action Suit Against These Doctors?
xavier replied to rvioux's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone takes the risk of a complication like a leak. If you cant afford to get it replaced I am really sorry for you but Im not sure its a reason for a lawsuit unless there is some reason you think your doctor is not doing his job right. -
Flipped Port 2 Weeks After Port Replacement For Leak!!!
xavier replied to abercchic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Can I ask why you didnt ask how he knew the port was the problem? Seems like the port would be the least likely place for a leak. My doc sews your port to a square of mesh fabric and then places in under the fat layer where it scars down...he has never had a flip yet. Maybe you could ask about this.I am a self payer too and afraid of any complications! I cant imagine you should have to pay for anything further since this seems to be on him! -
I feel full on a small meal (3/4 to 1 cup) of any food. Its like I have eaten a big meal. If I eat one or two more bites I will feel uncomfortable.

I seriously could not make myself push the order button on a bunch of size 6 pants from the Gap...I know thats my size but I just thought they would arrive and never fit! So I went to the Gap and took every pair of size 6s (each type of cut or fit or style) in the dressing room and of course they all fit. I hurried home to order the petites I needed before my belief in the 6 evaporated...weird! Today I tried on a size small blazer at Bass and it fit perfect. I decided to get another one in a different color and it almost killed me to buy the small without trying it on! I tried it on as soon as I got home!

Go get a fill even if you have to pay ( a different doc)...its not supposed to be that hard! A lot of docs are very cheap with the fills because they make money off of them...

Band Revision Due To Slippage
xavier replied to Vicki Osbourne's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am wondering what made it slip...did you have to vomit a lot? And was it sewed down when you had your band placed? -
This Is A Rather Short Post, But I Thought I'd Say It.
xavier replied to Meduseld's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fantastic...that is a huge accomplishment!!! What will be your reward other than the high school jeans?? A lot of us have bought Pandora type bracelets (mine is actually Chamilia, check out their website!) with each bead representing 10 pounds...there are much less expensive ones everywhere these days Kohls, the craft stores etc! Keep on! -

Getting Stuck And Vomitting A Lot! Help!!
xavier replied to stephinoz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You should be able to get back on trck with mushies...after that chew your food to the point where it would be if it has been in a blender and take long breaks between bites so you know it is going down and sitting well. -
PS I also have some crazy fluctuations I will probably never understand! But I am in maintenance now and in a size 6.

I am banded 2.5 years and I still have a protein shake every morning because I am too tight for food...it is looser at night and I have to have some willpower so I wouldnt want it any looser...The protein shake starts my day with 30 grams for 160 calories so I think its all good! (Premier Protein from Costco)
-
There are 3 things to worry about if you are too tight; 1. reflux or heartburn which can damage your esophagus in a vey bad way. 2.If you dont get enough fluid in every single day well, you can die! 3. Protein is critical to long term nutrition. If you can have liquids and avoid all three of the above you will lose weight quick and your band will loosen as you do.But idf you are having reflux that cant be controlled with meds or not getting enough water or protein you have to get an unfill.
-
Wow! That should really get you going! It was three fills for me to get to 6cc in a 10cc band and then the weight really started to come off!

I'm Sabotaging Myself, Any Advice?
xavier replied to Littleamberofky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can and do eat everything so the times I ate those last suppers before being banded were not needed...you will be able to eat one slider or maybe a half slice of pizza no problem... -
Shortness Of Breath While Eating?
xavier replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree...as soon as you feel that shortness of breath or need the yawn/sigh...you are done eating. Also you should never work out within an hour of a meal and maybe longer now that you are banded because it takes longer for food to move on. -
Day One Of Pre-Ob And I Feel Faint , Tired And Weak.....
xavier replied to kr8160311's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dont mean to be mean but tough it out it will not kill you. I am assuming you are obese as we all were at the beginning...you will not starve. -
At least call and describe your symptoms! I got some hard fills and was able to ride them out, lose weight quickly, and then it loosened up. But after a day or two you MUST be getting all the water and protein (liquid is ok) you need every day!
