Awesome news! Good luck with your journey!

I am having similar symptoms. I have no fluid in the band, I can not keep hardly anything down. I also have acid reflux and heartburn too much. I am having surgery in the morning. My dr is going to remove the band, hopefully repair a hiatal hernia and if he can put another band in place. More than likely he will not be able to put in the new band. I wish you all the best and hope the cancer cells are removed and that you get healthy..

April '09 Bunnies...2 Year Bandiversary!
murphy5 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't posted in a while. I've lost 65 pounds to date, slow and steady. A pound here and a pound there. I eat healthy and get some exercise. Most of which is yard work this summer. We have many hills on our property. I have some trouble with fluid in the morning. I also had problems with acid and heart burn so my Dr put me on Nexium. This has helped. I would like to step up the process so my husband and I are joining a local YMCA. I will keep you all posted. Any suggestions I would love to hear from all our Bunny Bandsters! -

JayTee, Sorry to hear you are having trouble. I can relate. I have lost 65 pounds in the two years with the band. I am slower than some and equal to others. I have had acid and heart burn problems. The Dr put me on Nexium which helps. I beleive my band has 4.5 cc in it. I am not too tight. I have problems with fluids in the morning. I do not know the remedy. I lose slowly but steady. Any suggestions. Keep up the good work, we are all proud of you. -
It has been over 2 years with the band and I wouldn't cvhange it, I have lost 65 pounds, which is not as much as some maybe a little more than others. I am going at this slowly. I do have the occaisional problem with heartburn and acid. The Dr put me on nexium and this has helped. I eat healthy and exercise. I have most trouble in the morning, drinking and eating. Any suggestions? Murphy

murphy5 replied to murphy5's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Lea, Congratulations. That isn't too far off! What did you think of Dr. Kerlakian? You will love the nurses at Good Sam, they are the best and they treat you with kid gloves too. This is a great and positive step in your life and one you will not regret. If I can help in any way let me know. -

Leah01, I have had the Lap Band since 4/9/09. It took about 5 weeks for approval from my insurance. As soon as the insurance was approved it was up to me how soon I wanted the Lap Band. The doctor is pleased with my progress I have lost about 30 pounds which to date is about 2 pounds a week. The healing took around 5 or 6 weeks. Good luck and if i can be of any help please let me know. -

Murhy here, I was banded 4/9/09. since the 2nd fill 3cc I have been experiencing the neck shoulder gas pain again. At times I can stretch and work some of it out. At other times I have to take aleve or liquid tylenol. Anyone else having this experience? I serched the posts and couldn't find any feed back. I plan to talk to the doctor next visit. Aside from this concern I have no other big problems except the occaisonal eating too fast. Luckily the band keeps me in check with regard to this life long behavior. Growing up with six brothers and sisters if you didn't eat fast you didn't get anything to eat. :-) Good luck to everyone and thanks for your feedback! Murphy:tt2: -

Band Groupie, I was filled 4/9/09 and have had 2 fills both 3cc, 2 weeks apart, May 8 then May 22 respectfully. That said, if your doctor used the same analogy in his practice, you would receive 1st fill 5/22... In all actuality the second 3cc fill. for me, was too tight. I stuck it out and lost weight which is my goal. I am experiencing the air trapped in the left side of my shoulder and neck, on the bright side only 3 pbs... If I were you I would call the doctor and request an earlier appointment. Keep us posted, Band. Murphy :=) -

I have a question. I had my second 3cc fill this morning. I had no restriction with the first 3cc. The 3cc the doctor put in this morning wow! I have major restriction. Should I call the doctor to have some removed or stick it out? The nurse told me this morning they are closed for the weekend. Does it get easier after the fill? Murphy -
I thought carbonated beverages are not allowed even after 12 weeks? I will have to go back and look at my nutritional work sheets. I did not drink them to begin with so no big deal for me. Murphy

Murphy here: I had the 1st fill yesterday. 3cc. I was starting to have hunger and virtually no restriction. The doctor said back to liquids for a few days and protien shakes. I was banded on the 9th and to date have lost 10 pounds. I ma not sure if that is good or bad. I heard pre fills is a time for healing...Now, I believe is when the weight starts coming off. I go back to the doctor May 22 for 2nd fill of 3cc. Thanks for all the support from my fellow "April Bunny Bandster's". It is comforting to know you are all out there going throught similiar situations. -
livin healthy, Hang in there it will get better! You are doing the right thing and before long "this to shall pass." I will say a prayer for you! Murphy

I am a little sore but truly nothing I can't handle. I will look forward to reading you posts and congratulations on the 50 pounds lost! Murphy

I have no gas and only a littles houlder pain. if I get up and move around it goes away. Will I get the gas later on? What liquids are safe.i tried some V8 Splash but vomited it back up.Would broth be okay? I was home today by 2:30.The only sorenesI have is right where the incisions are. Thanks band -Groupie and Sissy add me for April 9th. here is a finish for your poem. Bunnie looked and looked until she found a home, Then she found the perfect spot, On the beach in the sand And right along with her came her lap band While she in the sun looking all lean and tan What did she drink nothing other than one Slimfast in a can Bunnie felt eyes upon her when she looked she saw a Man With a twinkle in his eye and wink then he ran he yelled back You look fabulous! Bunnie said I knew I would the moment I said Yes, Yes, Yes I can! Enjoy, Murphy -

thetig, the thing you didn't check was shaving your legs. :=) Are you allowed to wear your bra or do you have to let the girls out? I am having surgery the 9th and I am wondering about these things. By now you have had surgery and I hope all went as planned. Good luck and get "r' done Murphy
