Hi! Yes, we do have the same surgery date, and I noticed we are the same weight and our goals are very close too! I am having my surgery at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL. Where are you having yours?

I just received my surgery date! I will be banded on September 12, 2006. I had a choice of any Tuesday or Friday from 9/12 through the end of September, of course I chose the earliest date! Whoohoooo. I'm so excited! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________ Waiting for surgery date sometime in September 2006.

I am done with all my pre-op testing and classes and am just waiting for someone to call me back with a surgery date! Cannot wait!

I can't even believe I have this problem. I never had any symptoms, except for maybe a vitamin hurting once and a while while going down. I don't understand. I'm so upset. I know if my surgeon says no, then it just wasn't meant to be, but this really sucks!

I took the last of my pre-op tests this week. Just got the results of the manometry. I was told I have a slight dismotility and a slight weakening of the lower schincter. The dr. said this should not interfere with my having the surgery, but I am worried that the surgeon won't do it now! Any ideas/thoughts????:help: I really need/want to have this done!

I think I had the last of my preop testing today, hopefully I will get a surgery date this week. Today I went for the Esophogeal Motility Test (aka, Manometry). I was told by the tech that the sphincther muscle is somewhat weak, but she said the dr. had to look at the report to interpret it. I could tell it wasn't coming out normal from what they were saying while doing it. I am hoping that this doesn't effect my getting the band or not. Did anyone else have a not so good esophogeal motility test before surgery and was denied the surgery because of it?? I was so looking forward to this and hope it's still on. :help:

I am not very creative in the kitchen. I was just wondering if anyone ate baby food during thier mushies/pureed stage post-op? If so, what brand did you buy and flavors? Thanks!

I will be a September bandie, as well. Don't have my date yet, but am getting all of my pre-op appointment taken care of this week. As soon as all the results are in, they are putting me on the surgery schedule!:clap2: I bought two giant bags of powdered protein shakes today at Costco and also picked up a bottle of liquid vitamin/minerals.

I went to see my surgeon yesterday, also had my psych. evaluation and nutrition consult. Things are moving along. I received all my RX's for preop testing and one is an Esopegeal Motility test. It sounds like it hurts, a tube down the nose into the esophegus (sp?). They said I will be awake for it. Has anyone had this done?? Does it hurt? Just wondering what I'm in for. I'm doing it anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious. Surgeon said I should be good to go for the end of September, I was hoping for much sooner, but I guess we shall see. Boy, did I put on a lot of weight these past couple of weeks, I was shocked when I saw the scale. I haven't weight this much since I was 9 months pregnant. Not much less than this, but I've put on 20lbs I didn't need. I have Medicare and my BMI is about 46 so I don't need prior approval, which is good.

No one else has had to have this test? Just me??

Well, I made the awful mistake of going over to OH.com and reading the memorials page. I am terrified now. I had my mind made up and am going to see the surgeon on Thursday for the lapband. I did the seminar last week. I have been reasearching for 3 months now. I know the complication/death rate is much lower than RNY, but, how much lower?? I am a 42 yr. old single mother to a 5 year old daughter. Her father is not in her life at all. If something happens to me, she is an orphan. I have dieted and regained weight my entire life, but up until 5 years ago, have never been this weight. I gained all of my weight with pregnancy and due to events in my life since then, have been unable to take it off sucessfully. I have lost and gained the same 15lbs 3 times in the past year. Diets are not going to work for me and I cannot excercise because every bone in my body hurts. My feet feel like they are broken. I need to lost 80-100 lbs (ideally), but anything at this point is better than what I am. I'm scared now. I cannot afford to die to be thin. Other than my weight, right now I have no other co-morbidities, except for high-cholesterol. I honestly feel like I need the band to keep my weight off for good. If I don't do it now, I never will. I just need some reassurance after reading those memorials, I am terrified. Help!:help:

I've had many, every few years, due to an ulcer I had back in my 20's. It was done right in the dr.'s office most times, but the last time, I had to go to the hospital and have it done. They put me out me some Valium and Demerol I believe (happy juice for sure) and woke me up right there when they were done. I will probably have to have one before my surgery, it's been about 4 years since my last one.

Please Help Me, Now I'm Scared!

Thanks everyone. I am not afraid of the pain or the lifestyle change, I am only afraid I will die on the table or from a complication after, in other words, directly related to the surgery. I really want to have the procedure done, it's just when I read the memorial page on OH I panicked. I am pretty much emotionally dead right now, at 225lbs, probably more now, as i have been eating like I am going to the electric chair, and 5'1" tall, I hate myself, and am of no use to my daughter like this. Just afraid of dying because I was a failure at dieting and needed to have a surgical intervention. -
Yes, I have the picture staring at me right now. It was taken in October of 2000. I was in Vegas with my boyfriend. It was taken a week before I got pregnant. I was wearing a size 5/6 and gorgeous (sorry don't mean to brag), but when people look at this picture, they can't even believe it was me. I look like I've aged 100 years since then and like a totally different person, so sad.

Once Banded, How Much Weight Did You Lose In The First 2 Months?
ItsGottaGo! posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not banded yet, but hope to be by the end of September. I have an appt. with the surgeon and psych. next Thursday. I am very curious to know how much weight everyone lost in their first 2 -3 months of being banded. Thanks! -
Once Banded, How Much Weight Did You Lose In The First 2 Months?

I really appreciate everyone's responses. You are all doing so wonderfully and I wish everyone much continued success. I am very excited and nervous to get this show on the road (so to speak) and hoping that I will have a surgery date confirmed in the next two weeks. I have Medicare, so I do not need to wait for prior approval from my insurance company, plus I have a BMI of over 40. I am a little concerned that Medicare only pays for 1 fill after the surgery and then my dr. charges about $650 per fill after that. I am 5'1" tall and weigh about 230lbs. I look my best at 135lbs - 140lbs (although short I am not petite boned), but haven't been at that weight for about 5 years now (since pregnancy) and up and down my whole life. In any event, I would be thrilled to lose 20lbs in the first 2 - 3 months and then slow and steady from there. I do expect this to be alot of work and I am prepared, I just want if off of me forever! I am 42 yrs old. and the time is now. -
The soap didn't work for me. I was told to take iron supplements, and that seem to stop the cramping and the restless leg syndrome.

I was just wondering if the lap band, after so many years, would damage the stomach or bruise or dent it somehow. Maybe someone who has had the band removed would be able to answer this. Was your stomach damaged at all from the band. Just wondering the long-term effects.

I'm not banded yet, but want to be. I have no problem polishing off a half-gallon of ice cream one night and then another the next. Cookie dough ice cream is my downfall. I know that getting banded won't help with my cravings or my desire to eat the entire half-gallon, but I am hoping that I will not be able to because of the band without vomiting. Please tell me the band will help in that dept. of overeating, bingeing, just for the simple fact that the pouch won't be able to hold it.
