Isn't that exactly why you are getting the band. So that you can eat a reduced amount of calories without the same feelings of hunger that you have now?

Feeling Band? Is This Normal?
elcee replied to Smartinez16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You cannot feel your band. That is buried quite deep, the most likely thing is that it is part of your port that you can feel. -
A lot of people find they are tight in the mornings. If you are don't try to eat. Have a warm drink as this can help to relax the band. Have a Protein shake or something when you feel that you can handle it. Do you have allergies? If you do this could also make you tighter in the morning. Maybe you need meds. You do need to see a Dr though. Phone around see if there is someone that will take you for less. Unfortunately this seems to be a common people that try to " save" money by having cheap surgery in Mexico. It is something people should consider and try to sort out prior to the surgery but obviously you can't. Although you have lost some weight you have banded a while and it doesn't sound as though you have lost as much as you could have if you had the care of an experienced team. Good luck

I have heard lots of people say that this happens to them so yes it is normal. Not sure how this works , just another one of those weird band things.
-
I still enjoy most foods. The exceptions are very dry foods like pork chops - they take way too much chewing to be enjoyable.
-
I can't see how spanx could help the hunger. It may make it more uncomfortable if you eat too much but it shouldn't affect your urge to want to eat.
-
That's great news.

I am the same. If there are cookies in the house I have to eat them, especially if the packet is open. They are one of my biggest downfalls.

I think people are so used to seeing overweight/obese people that they no longer know what normal looks like.

Old-Timers (3+ Years Banded) Recommitting To The Bandster Lifestyle
elcee replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I forgot you are in the city - out here in the country they got me to drink the meds even though I couldn't keep anything down. I have decided I really need to do something as I jumped on the scales today and they are up almost another kilo! This is ridiculous. Still confused as to the best way to do it - I never have been any good at dieting. Decided to try low(ish) carb. Had a scrambled egg and a piece of cold beef for Breakfast. I am starving already and it is only 9.40am! Not sure how long my low carb efforts will last. Hopefully longer than on previous attempts. -
Removal Of Stitches From Banding In Tj---Help.
elcee replied to lm79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What stitches do you have to have removed? My incisions , and I believe most other people's incisions, were glued together. Is this just a Mexican thing? -

Lellow how did you cope with the anti nausea meds? They tried them when I was in hospital too and it was a big mistake. Because I couldn't even swallow my own spit I could taste them for hours afterwards. -
Old-Timers (3+ Years Banded) Recommitting To The Bandster Lifestyle
elcee replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not having restriction when you have had it for so long sucks. I am at the point where I am thinking about what diet I should go on and I haven't had to do that for almost 3 years. I do know I still have a band as I ate a chicken mayo roll for lunch and I was in a hurry to fetch my son from work so I was eating fast. Felt a slight bit of discomfort so I stopped but that was after I had eaten almost the whole roll. That was the first time since my partial unfill that I have felt anything. After a while most of us think that the band is not doing much and that we are in control, it is not until you lose it that you realise how much the band really was helping. I am back to eating quickly even when I try not to and I have started snacking more than I should. Lets hope that we manage to sort our band issues out soon. -
Newbie Question -- Slightly Nauseous, Burping, Heartburn?
elcee replied to SashaWLS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I would be a bit scared of the senna tea. I would be looking for something more gentle. I had nausea in the days postop , I think it was due to all those horrible , Protein shakes and juice etc. Everything was so sweet. I think my body was craving something that tasted like proper food as when my Dr said I would be Ok to start eating Soup (various types of homemade veggie + pulses for protein) it went away. -
As A Bander, What Is Your Opinion Of The Sleeve? Would You Get It?
elcee replied to txdee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If I had to have my band removed then the sleeve would be my next option. However it would terrify me, the risk of complications is huge. I have just read about someone on the sleeve board that died 6 weeks out presumably from complications from a leak and leaks seem to be quite common. I also think I would have an issue trying to convince my husband to "let" me go ahead. -
Not Getting Anywhere Near The Calories I Need.
elcee replied to Kami76065's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about not eating enough, your hunger will return so enjoy this boost while you can. It is very important to make sure that you get enough fluids in though, especially after surgery. If you don't you can end up with kidney problems so force yourself to keep drinking even if you are not thirsty. You need to drink enough that your urine is a very pale straw colour. -
I can't imagine eating something that combines bacon with cornflakes and raisins - to me that sounds really weird.

Good luck Heidi, you are braver than me doing it all by yourself. I have put on 2kg since Christmas and am hanging out for my next appointment. I was supposed to go on Wed but had to cancel due to work and now I can only get in on 3rd May. I so want some restriction back. Being able to eat like a normal person sucks. Denise glad you are finally starting to win the war on the bug. I didn't realise that you had a procedure that started it all but that makes perfect sense. They nearly killed my father with MRSA when he went for his hip replacement years ago. They of course denied responsibility and said that he probably infected himself. Now whenever he has to have an op he washes everything with special antibacterial stuff before going into hospital. I think that if there is a risk you can infect yourself they should test you first to see if you are a carrier and if the answer is yes they should pretreat you and take additional precautions. Doesn't a stitch in time save 9? -
If you want eggs then try soft poached - they are far easier to eat.

No More Muscle Milk Light Pre-Mixed Shakes...any Suggestions
elcee replied to lisa123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am puzzled as to why you are drinking such a high portion of your meals. Are you too tight to eat proper food? -
What you are eating sounds great. If you could only eat 2 bites then you would not be able to meet your daily nutritional requirements and you would also probably get hungry again fairly quickly. You will never feel full the way you did before your band. You should be able to eat a wide variety of healthy foods. For me I just ate less than before and didn't get hungry as quickly.I had to chew more and make sure I didn't eat too quickly but that was it.I could eat most foods although some gave me trouble. And I was losing weight without a heck of a lot of effort.

Ok!! Is Anyone 100% Happy W/ The Lap Band?? And Successful
elcee replied to Jenmomto3's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is so true and the reason that so many people find it hard to maintain - especially without a band. I have been maintaining relatively well a weight of around 50kg for almost 2 years. I recently had to have a large amount of fluid taken out of my band and am now struggling. I have put on 2kg over the last couple of months. I was supposed to go for another fill this week but had to reschedule due to work commitments and now only go on 3 May. I cannot wait. I now understand why I struggled for so long to maintain the weight I wanted to be without a band. The truth is that the amount of food I required was far less than I or society believed it should be. Without constantly being aware of what you are eating it is so easy to eat too much. It would probably be easier if I was the kind of person that loved exercise but I have never been a natural athlete. Ever since school when I was a book worm I have looked at exercise as a chore and a waste of time - who wants to run when you could be reading or creating something - this mindset is really hard to change! -

It is also possible that you may have oesophagal dysmotility.
