    Slow Weight Lose....

That is 2 months. Average weight loss should be 1 - 2lb per week so to me it sounds like youare where you should be. But some things to consider if you think that the weight loss could be faster. What are you doing to lose the weight? Are you exercising? Are you following the dietary guidelines that your dr has given you?

    Dear Candy Bowl...

Chocolate and I have broken up many times but stupidly I have never been able to resist "his" charms. Every time he calls I go crawling back. I tend to do better if I refuse to let him in the house but this must be an incestuous relationship as my DH and kids have something going with him too and they always let him back in. I hate to admit it but sometimes my need for him is so desperate that we have clandestine rendezvous at the supermarket!

    Liposuction

Normally after a large weight loss you have a lot of loose ,saggy skin. Lipo will do nothing to help this, the only thing that will help is a tummy tuck.

    Dont Recognize Myself

I would rather be slim with a few wrinkles than fat with a moon face and multiple chins.

    Post Opt 7 Weeks

A healthy weight loss is between 1 - 2lb per week which equals between 4 and 8lb a month. If you are hugely overweight you may lose quicker initially but it will slow down. What you have to remember is you didn't gain the weight overnight and you won't lose it that way either. Remember every lb you lose no matter how slowly is better than you gaining a lb. I would have loved to have got the band and woken up skinny the next morning but it didn't happen. LOL But what did happen was that I lost weight slowly and steadily over a period of about 6 months until I got to goal. So slow and steady is good

    Junk Food

Most junk food turns to liquid or mush before it hits the band so it slides through easily. Proper foods do not turn to mush before they hit the band, they sit there for a while and pass through very slowly. We would all love a band that could stop us eating junk but unfortunately it isn't out there. When they invent it my name is going at the top of the list!
  7. I know how you feel as I am the same height. Getting the band was the best thing I could have done for myself. It is great to be at a normal BMI and to look and feel good. Hope you have the same success.

    Does Sugar Free Cause Diarrhea

A lot of sugar substitutes carry a warning that excessive consumption can cause issues. I remember going to movies years ago and buying a cup of sugar free candies to eat during the movie, this was prior to them carrying warnings, a couple of hours later I got the worst cramps and runs ever.As a result I am now ultra careful about how much of these type of products I consume. I actually wrote to the manufacturer to complain about the lack of warning.
  9. What Jen has said is good but I would like to add 1 more thing. Leftovers , especially if they are reheated are a common cause of problems. the food tends to be a different texture, often a lot drier the second time around.

Getting Fill After 18 Months. Nervous

I disagree. I think you quite possibly do need a fill. You shouldn't necessarily be able to feel food passing through but if you are choosing the correct type of foods and eating them correctly you should feel satisfied sooner(not full) and not get hungry again for a number of hours afterwards. Stop eating bread, you don't need it and it is causing you problems. Only choose tender meats that have been cooked using slow cooking methods and have them with some sauce. Small bites , chewed well should be fine. Do not drink with your meals. If you still cannot eat meat this way then you may be too tight. The size of the band should not be an issue. I think a lot has to do with the way you are eating

    Help Feel Like

I don't think it actually means food is sitting in your oesophagus. It is actually a referred pain from pressure on the vagus nerve. It probably means that you took a bite that was too big or didn't chew properly or that you are full. I used to get this sensation quite a lot in the early stages of being banded. Sometimes it can be first bite syndrome - if it does occur with the first bite there are a few things you can try:- Try having a warm drink before you start eating. Eat that first bite extra slowly. Wait a few minutes before continuing to eat. HTH

    Chips. Dont Eat Them

"Restriction" still won't stop you eating that packet of chips or chocolate or whatever your vice may be. "Restriction" may help you to avoid eating the chips because you are satisfied and you decide that although they taste nice you don't really need them. Don't forget that a big part of this is still you making good decisions.

    Post Op Diet

No wonder you are confused! The best person to listen to at this stage is your surgeon as he knows what is necessary for healing. Your diet seems to be progressing far quicker than most peoples. The standard is usually 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies, 2 weeks soft and then finally progressing to normal foods at 6 weeks. Watch what you eat carefully, make sure you are not getting any discomfort and if you do have problems slow down and go back to the previous food stage for a while. Advancing the diet too fast postop can lead to problems.

Worried About Slippage Or Band Flip

It's human nature to worry, your band just gives you 1 extra thing to worry about! The problem with worrying is that it is counterproductive and the stress can make you sick. Any of us could get run over by a bus tomorrow but we don't waste our lives worrying about it. It should be the same with the band. Something may happen but it may not. Worrying won't make any difference. Just follow the rules and live your life without stressing about things that you cannot control.

Relieved It's Not A Band Complication

One of the joys of living in the countryside and being at the mercy of the Aus public health system! Hope everything is Ok and they work out what is wrong soon.

    My Doctor Is Moving Away:(

Hopefully it will be a case of practice makes perfect. Your Dr probably wasn't so good at it initially either.

Found A Way To Eat Around The Band

The reason people eat things that may not be the best choices are because it was their stomach that was banded not their brain. If it was easy to give up these foods completely then none of us would have needed a band. It is also easier to stay away from these kind of foods initially as that is when you are full of motivation, the further out you are the harder it becomes.

    Shopping In My Closet

I did that but found I had missed the boat with some items. I had things I bought years ago that were too small then (but they were a bargain and of course I was always going to lose weight) and when i tried them on they were too big!

    Leaking Port!!

Surely if the port is faulty then it should be replaced. Why such a long wait?

    Back Is Sore.

I am sure you haven't done damage. Your band is giving you feedback. Telling you that your choices weren't too good and that probably you ate too quickly and/or too much.

    I Know This Is Bad...

It sounds as though it may be the way you are eating. Try really making an effort to take small bites, chew well and wait between bites. If that does not work THEN go back to your DR.

    Constant Vomiting

If you cannot drink water then you definitely need to speak to your Dr. You may just be having a bad reaction to the anaesthesia and may need an antiemetic. If you can't keep them down then the Dr may be able to prescribe them in the form of a patch or suppository.

    Always Constipated/never Poop!

Give up the high protein low carb diet and go back to a more normal diet and you will probably find the issue resolves.

    Removal Of My Band

I always find it strange when new people that have never participated in this board before come on and their first post is about how they are having their band removed. I always wonder. Are they for real? What is their motivation? Are they maybe being paid as some kind of troll to achieve some kind of result. I have always been a sceptic, it is part of me that is not going to change. So if you are for real I wish you all the best in your bandless future.
