    Does Soda Erode The Band?

    This doesn't prove a thing.

    Does Soda Erode The Band?

I think the soda causing slips is a myth as well. But if that particular myth makes people stick to eating healthier then it can't be bad.
  3. I'm nowhere near perfect and am becoming even less so. I have never logged my food (except the odd day here and there), I don't measure anything, don't do protein first and I eat snacks.
  4. It is definitely as stitch. I had the same thing after my hysterectomy. They are supposed to dissolve but sometimes they don't. i wouldn't worry about it. the best thing to do to make sure it doesn't catch and pull is to use clean scissors and snip it close to the skin. If doing that worries you then just put a bandaid over it until you see your Dr.
  5. I think a personal chef that could work it all out for me would be great. As you say life is busy enough as it is without having to figure out a calorie counted menu plan for the rest of your life.

    Foreign Object

No the materials that the band is made of are inert so your body can't reject it in the same sense that it could a donor organ. However there are some people that have issues with the band and some of them like to think that their body is rejecting it. Why are you so anti a foreign body? Do you have any fillings? Would you ever consider a boob job How about a hip replacement Lots of people have foreign bodies and they do not cause issues for most of them.
  7. No burping does not man you are hungry. For some reason post band many people just burp (or fart) a lot more. It can happen at any time. Hiccups can be a full sign for some but for others it might just mean they have eaten too fast or taken too big a bite. Everyone is different and you learn to listen to your body and figure out what it is telling you.

    Changes Over Time?

This is so true. I am beginning to believe that the kind of weights that we aspire to and want to maintain are not achievable without some kind of intervention. I think that for most people, especially once they reach a certain age , their metabolism combined with general slowing down of exercise means that most are going to get heavier. What Can You Not Eat?

Steak and pork chops. I used to have problems with corn early on too but now it goes down just fine.
  10. You will find as many Dr's that say it is OK as say it isn't. The main thing is to listen to your body. If it hurts don't drink it. If it doesn't cause discomfort then it should be fine. Bearing in mind that you should not drink it in excess and if you do drink it then it is best to sip it slowly. The occasional carbonated drink is not going to hurt, will not stretch your pouch and won't make your band slip. Drinking 2 litres plus per day like many unbanded people do could cause you problems.

    Redness

Yes that sounds fine. If it feels really hot to the touch, gets pus, smells etc then you should be concerned .
  12. That would be really depressing but look on the bright side, they did what was best for you and you are still alive. I also used to take Micardis and had to stop a couple of months after surgery as i had an incident where it dropped really low and I passed out and ended up being monitored in hospital. I wish i could say that my BP is now normal but it isn't and I am back on meds again. I am surprised that they have put the schedule for tests so far out. Obviously you want to be able to proceed asap. I would have thought that the answer was for you to stop taking the meds for a short period prior to surgery but obviously you can only do that if the Dr instructs you to do so.

    Need Help So Hungry

Try yogurt, it is still essentially liquid but a bit more satisfying. My Dr makes me stick to soft foods after a fill not liquids but every Dr is different and you need to do what your's recommends.
  14. I think it would be hard to recover away from home. I also think it would be hard to stick to a preop liquid diet away from home when there are so many temptations around. This process can be hard, you do not want to make it any harder. I would be rethinking going away and saving it for later in the year.

    Very Worried

No need to be worried, this happens sometimes. Your body is just adjusting. Keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and you will lose it again.
  19. I get told to do soft foods for the day of the fill then slowly back to normal after that.

    Complications Post Op

Go and see your Dr. You may have been prefilled and combined with the postop swelling that could be causing the problems. Most people that have major discomfort so soon after surgery turn out to have been prefilled.
  21. That's great. I have the opposite problem, my rings are now too big so I have to wear them on my middle finger instead. I don't want to pay to get them resized though as in summer my fingers swell and then they would be too small, maybe I just need 2 sets of rings - a summer set and a winter set! Not sure my DH would like that idea!

    Changes Over Time?

It seems there is a real problem after a certain point where the restriction wears off but further fills then cause reflux. It would be good if someone could come up with the answer as to why. I have only had 1 episode of reflux since my partial unfill months ago but I swear at the time I was not tight and would actually have liked more restriction. Now I am just desperate for any restriction. I want my band to work the way it did initially , without me thinking about it. Now I have to struggle not to spend the day snacking and am constantly pondering what diet I should start to get rid of the 3kg I have gained. The scary thing is that it seems that some of the previous veteran bandsters encountered the same problem and ended up having revisions. At the time when it was happening and I was new I didn't want to believe what they were saying and was hopeful that it was just a fluke, yet more and more people seem to be encountering the same thing. The problem with revising to a sleeve though is that i believe the long term success is still not known. How many people have had a sleeve for 3 years or more and what is their success rate? The sooner they invent that wand the better.

    Any Band Conversions

The best place to ask this question would be on either the vertical sleeve or the bypass board. Most people don't stick around here once they have their bands out.
  25. I eat all sorts of beans and they don't give me any issues. I normally use tinned, not dried as they are quick and easy. Black beans, baked beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas etc. (You may have different names for some of those).
