    Band Tightness

It is possible that the patty was too dry. They can be a difficult food to eat post band.

    Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled eggs are a food that is known to cause problems.A lot of it comes down to how you cook them. If you cook them so that they are just set and still soft they should be fine. If you overcook them they can be dry and rubbery. Then of course it seems (from reading on this site) that most people in the US do not use real eggs anyway. They all seem to use some kind of convenience, powdered substitute. How that would effect the way they go down I have no idea!
  5. My friend and I decided to catch up last night along with our teenage sons as we haven't seen each other for ages. We met at some place called Lazy Moe's which we have never been to before. On the back of the menu it talks about how one of the things that makes them keep going is the look on peoples faces when their food arrives. Well the look on our faces was abject horror - surely that can't be a motivator. The amount of food was ridiculous. One plateful of food would have served an entire Ethiopian village. There must have been about 5lb of chips on each plate. It was just an obscene amount of food. My son is 17 and can pack away a large quantity of food but even he hardly made a dent in the pile of chips. I had a baked potato but it was flattened and covered an entire dinner plate. I would have expected it to come with maybe a sprinkling of cheese but no it was covered in a thick layer of melted cheese and then there was sour cream as well! Not sure why that was necessary. Now I don't know if these are the kind of serves that are regarded as standard in the US but if they are then no wonder there is such a huge weight problem. Especially if you have been brought up (as I was) to eat everything on your plate because it is wrong to waste. The amount of food that this restaurant must chuck into their waste bins every day must be huge. So why do they continue to do it. Surely seeing the amount of waste should tell them that there is something wrong with their serves. That maybe bigger is not really better and that the majority of people would be happy with smaller portions. If push comes to shove then have 2 serving sizes on your menu. A normal serve and a gluttons serve. Deliberately wasting all that food every day for no reason other than to boast about the size of your serves makes me feel sick.
  6. You also probably ate less because you weren't feeling well, that is something our bodies tend to do naturally.
  7. From your recent pictures I think you look good. You look healthy. You certainly don't look emaciated or skinny. I would ignore other people, their opinions don't count. Most of the time they feed you crap as they have ulterior motives - like being jealous of your weight loss etc. You will probably find that at some point you stop losing anyway. But if you think that you have lost enough it is easy to stop losing without getting Fluid taken out. Simply add in a few high cal sliders!

    Need Food

Eat soup. That was my saviour. It tasted like food and really hit the spot.
  9. To me it sounds as though you have some kind of erosion. The other possibility would be a stomach ulcer. I think that they should do more tests just to make sure that everything is OK.

    Finally Restriction.....now What?

I could never eat a bite that small. I need to take bites that are big enough that I am able to chew them. I don't take huge bites but mine are still a fairly normal size. Just shows that everyone is different and has to find what works for them.
  11. I just eat the plane food. Most of it is fairly soft so it shouldn't be too hard. If you are concerned avoid the meat that they serve and just eat the veg. Breakfast normally has some kind of eggs and they go down Ok. You could always take a cup a Soup or some kind of dehydrated meal and then ask for hot Water when you are on board.

    Pain Near Port

I am sure that it is probably fine but if you are worried then you should not hesitate to contact your Dr. You need to remember that you have just had surgery and healing takes a while so take care of yourself and don't try to do too much too soon.

    Frozen Entrees

I also eat them occasionally. The main problem I find is that they have lots of rice/pasta/sauce and very little meat.

    Tummy Hurts!!

I am shocked that he gave you a fill when you were in pain .I would have thought that he needed to let you get used to the amount of fill that you currently have. If you are getting stuck at your current level more fill will probably only make it worse.

    Help

You probably still have a piece stuck. Stop trying to eat or drink. Try sucking small quantities of crushed ice. It may help to reduce the swelling enough that the item will eventually move through. If not you will have to go and see your Dr to get some fill taken out - you do not want to end up dehydrated.

Trouble Identifying Real Hunger Vs Head Hunger

If you are looking in the fridge and cannot find anything worth eating then that is head hunger. If you were truly hungry there would be plenty of options that would satisfy you. If you are looking at the clock and thinking you should eat because of the time then again that is head hunger - although there is nothing wrong with eating at regular mealtimes. When you are hungry you generally start feeling a bit tired, shaky, light headed - you should probably aim to eat before you get this far. If you leave it you will get all the symptoms of a fullblown hypoglycaemic attack and could even passout. If you are not sure when you are hungry then I would suggest that maybe eating on schedule is a good way for you to do things. Have a hot drink when you wake up. Breakfast approx 30 minutes later. lunch between 12 - 1. Midafternoon snack if you need one between 3 -4. dinner between 6 - 8. Obviously these times are not set in stone, come up with something that works for you.
  17. I think the problem is that this is the internet. When you read a typed message you cannot see the facial expressions or the body language. Therefore a typed message that is direct and to the point may come across as abrupt or uncaring. People should read the content and stop trying to analyse the emotion behind it. The other thing people forget is that most of us lead busy lives. It takes time to type responses and sometimes there are lots that require some kind of response. We don't have time to dress things up and add kittens and fairydust etc. I think most of us do care or we wouldn't still be here years after getting our bands and losing what we needed to lose.
  18. I have had surgery and didn't have to unfill. The worst part was that I was put on a light diet afterwards - the only problem was that the hospitals definition of light isn't one that suits banded patients. They served soup, yogurt, jelly, custard and sandwiches. there was no way I was going to attempt the sandwiches so i had to survive on the other stuff for a couple of days and ended up very hungry!

    Hungry Every 2 Hours

Keep drinking, and eat as much of the allowed foods as reasonable to stave off your hunger. At this stage you should be concentrating on healing rather than weight loss.

    Seriously Stupid Serves

I don't think that I would ever have been able to eat that quantity of food. And there is no way I would ask for a take home box as the majority of the waste was fries and they are gross reheated. In fact most restaurants in Aus don't offer that option, probably because of concerns with how you store the food at home and you suing if you get food poisoning . Some such as La Porchetta do, but even then I rarely decide that I want to bring the food home with me. I like to enjoy the meal once , not have to keep eating it for the next couple of days. The exception would be if the meal was truly exceptional but then those kind of restaurants do not normally serve Sumo wrestler portions. They aim for quality not quantity.

    More Adventures In Medical Tests..

I have done a 24hr collection previously and it is a PITA! At that stage I wasn't told that the sample had to be kept in the fridge but I have since read that they now believe this to be the optimum way of doing things. About 2 years ago I went to see a cardiologist ( I have unexplained hypertension) and he referred me for a pile of tests. When I went to the lab to have what I thought was blood drawn they told me it was a 24hr collection. I refused, went home researched on the net and discovered that it was possible to do the test from blood so phoned my specialist and requested it be done that way. He wasn't too happy but he gave me the appropriate referral. I wasn't just being a princess. I have a bladder problem and often get up up to 10 times at night to pee. There was no way I was going to do that and then stagger through my house all the way to the fridge. I had visions of me tripping and getting it everywhere, plus I don't think that is very hygenic. The labs have separate fridges for samples, at home we don't have that luxury. Maybe you can call your endocrinologist and see if you can have the same thing tested for via blood instead. They might tell you that the blood test isn't as accurate but it is worth a shot.

    So Beefy Jerky?

I have eaten biltong (the South African equivalent of jerky) and so long as it is not too tough I can handle it. I did come unstuck though eating droe wors( dried sausage), I think it is the skin that causes the problem. As I was on a game drive at the moment it was incredibly awkward.

Why Does Nobody Talk In Chat Room?

I have never been in the chat room so i have no idea.
  24. I wasn't being rude,at least I tried to respond to you.Your post did not give enough information to tell what it was that you were trying to ask so I tried to read between the lines. The reason no one else responded is probably because your post confused them too. I see now that this was posted in the teen section but I didn't realise this at the time as I generally just go through the new topics on the side of the forum. Please tell us a bit more about yourself - that will help people when they try to help you. Perfectly normal to be nervous( it's a big step) most of us are. Congrats on being banded and welcome to the other side.
  25. I was just watching an episode of Dr G. It turned out the victim was a drug mule and died from one of the packages of cocaine, that he had ingested ,bursting. My first thought? Well that's one job you can't do once you're banded! I mean imagine trying to swallow those with a band in place.Even worse would be getting stuck and then going to the Dr for an unfill, especially if it was done under fluoro. NB.This was not something I had or ever would consider. So are there any other things weird or wonderful that anyone can think of that you can't do once banded?
