    Question

All bands have a small amount of fill in at the time of banding. It is necessary to help fill the tubing connecting the band to the port. But it is only a small amount and does not fill the part of the band which is around the stomach so you will not feel any effect from it.
  2. It's always best when you feel unwell after an op to get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.
  3. I would also say that it sounds like a stomach bug.

First Fill Today..... Feeling A Little Uneasy.

Have you ever had to have blood taken before? Did that hurt? Was it unbearable? It's normal to be nervous. I think I was almost as nervous about going for my first fill as I was for the op. I imagined it as being a little bit like amnio(which I have never had). Everyone told me that it was fine but until you have been yourself you do not believe them. I find it best if I don't watch whilst the put the needle in. At the most , for me at least, it can be a little bit uncomfortable. You're female so chances are that you regularly put yourself through more pain in the interests of looking good. Eyebrows, bikini line, brazilian, leg wax etc

Crazy Story From Pre Op Class

I think the surgeon is trying to scare you to make sure you stay on track (that's not a bad thing). They do not cut into your stomach when doing the lapband surgery so it is impossible for them to see what you have eaten. This is more likely to be something that could happen during sleeve surgery as then they actually do cut into the stomach.

    Pot Use And The Lapband

I think it's pretty sad when smoking is one of the most enjoyable parts of a persons life. I can think of way more things to do that would be far more enjoyable but I suppose it is a case of each to their own.

    Vomiting (Not Pbing) And Lap-Band

Sorry to hear that you had a medical emergency, glad you are OK. My only real experience of vomiting since the band was after I imbibed too much wine. Woke up in the middle of the night feeling awful so tried to make myself vomit. Well no matter how hard I tried it would not work. Consequently I spent the rest of the night and the next morning feeling awful. I am lucky in that I seem to have a cast Iron constitution and I very rarely get bugs that would cause me to vomit. I haven't had one since being banded so I'm not sure what would happen in those circumstances. But these days when I get something stuck some of my PB's have been a lot more like vomiting than PBing, sometimes it is difficult to work out which it is. Things definitely come back with a lot more force than they did when I was initially banded . I think things change over time
  8. I was wondering what had happened to you and how you were going. Sorry to hear that you have gained 2 dress sizes, that would be so depressing. Unbelievable that you have a second leak, does Dr Nottle have any explanation as to how it could have happened?
  9. A lot of the shops don't have smaller sizes and when I tried them on I thought they were OK. Smaller probably wouldn't do up around the middle - it's a problem when you have no butt and skinny legs but still have a stomach.

Why Does Weight Loss Surgery Fail?

    Excellent article, as usual.

    Port Or Hernia?

I would think it is your port. That is where they usually place it and it feels hard to touch.
  13. What if everything is fine What if you are getting yourself into a state for nothing. Take a deep breath and RELAX. I am sure that everything will be fine.

    Medications

You probably have little or no fill at this stage. Just swallow with a big gulp of water , they should go down fine.

    Severe Pain

It sounds like it could be gall bladder or something similar. However don't mess around with it, just because it wasn't your heart last time doesn't mean that it isn't this time. You need to get checked out.
  16. I am happy for those who have converted and are happy. That is the aim, to have the WLS that suits you. However I am wondering if you would have been so happy if you had been one of the people that had a leak. Reading the stories from those who have had leaks they sound awful. So the bottom line is how much risk is someone prepared to take. Some of you were lucky and had minor complications with the band - far better that than being unlucky and having complications with the sleeve surgery.
  17. Surely breakfast is breakfast no matter what time you eat it.
  18. It doesn't really matter what size band you have you should get to the green zone at some point. Is this a Realise band that you have? I ask because typically people with that type of band seem to need a lot more fill than those with a lap band. It's got something to do with the low pressure design.
  19. I think with a history like that you might be better off opting for a different type of surgery, sleeve or bypass.

    Here Again!

So no idea who you were before? Anyway, welcome back and good luck
  21. My jeans still look dreadful. It is so hard to find ones that fit properly. I try them on in the shop and think they are fine and then when I actually wear them it's a different story - after about an hour they are all really baggy and saggy and wanting to fall off. I am forever being told that I look much better in skirts and dresses than I do in pants.
  22. September - you will have probably missed the spring collection, they will have summer stuff in the shops then already!

    Very Emotional Today :(

Sorry to hear that, it must be so awful to be on a medication that does that to you. What condition are you dealing with? Is it an auto immune thing?
