I know in Australia Peptipro is very popular, don’t know if you get that in the US as well
-
Generally it’s the same people. Posting the same thing in a couple of different forums doesn’t usually go down well

I don’t think it is advisable for you to drive that far that soon post op. Have you checked with your insurance company that you would be covered.

Why have you asked the same question twice?

CHEWABLE MULTIVITAMINS???
elcee replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The BN chewables are so gross I managed to take them for 2 weeks and then switched to the BN capsules. -
Yeah I get that. It’s just the functionality frustrates me sometimes. It’s so hard to reply to things and also annoying when a picture has to be copied and pasted a gazillion times so we know which outfit we are talking about.

I think we need a facebook group, it would be so much easier to follow. What to wear after WLS

liquids making me have foamies/slime?
elcee replied to caroconcerta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may have a stricture, I would try and see your Dr ASAP, you don't want to become dehydrated -
I love the dress but agree you should wear whatever you are comfortable in. For the record I often wear tights(nylons). Sometimes they finish an outfit off better than not wearing them. Sometimes they are required for warmth. There are so many different types - you can get ultrasheer, toeless, coloured etc. Wear what makes you comfortable

Thought I wanted the sleeve, Doc recommends RNY
elcee replied to rglad1267's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Not sure why people have this perception about RNY being more invasive. All surgery is invasive! Sleeve surgery they cut you open, cut off a large section of your stomach, stitch the remaining part so it doesn’t leak, throw away the chopped off part, stitch you back up. RNY they cut you open, cut into your stomach to portion off a smaller section, do some rerouting and reattaching, stitch you back up. Not sure which is the most invasive but not even sure that is a factor. So long as the surgeon you choose is skilled and experienced at what he or she does that shouldn’t matter. It should be more important to focus on the different way the surgeries work and the potential side effects. If you already have issues with reflux then a sleeve is not a good choice. -
It does sound like you were given the run around. Maybe your first port of call should have been your PCP as it sounds as though she is the one that eventually figured it out anyway

Fluffy I would wear that shirt untucked , probably knotted at the front with a pretty cami underneath

Food isn’t supposed to get stuck. It could happen in the early stages if you don’t chew properly or if you have a stricture. -
I had to take Salpraz for the first 2 months

Lap Band removal and Gastric Bypass surgery at the same time
elcee replied to Becca22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did in Jan. I did have a minor complication. I came through the surgery ok and was doing fine when a couple of hours later I had a sudden drop in BP. They did an ultrasound and thought that there could be a bleed somewhere so they took me back into surgery and also gave me 4 units of blood. No major issues found in 2nd surgery. I have since spoken to the Doc and he says that the trocar probably damaged a minor blood vessel in the stomach layers - a complication that could have happened with any surgery. I was in hospital for 5 nights and did feel like I had been hit by a bus. On day 5 I developed mild asthma, I couldn’t wait to get home. Felt very weird for the first couple of weeks. Head was fuzzy and I felt like I had a hair in my throat. Possibly Ketosis combined with an ear issue! I have lost all the weight that I regained when my band stopped working and now feel fab. I weigh 50kg. The bypass is so much better than the band. My diet is much healthier, when I’m full I feel it in my stomach not in my throat and chest and I can go out and eat and not spend the night in the bathroom throwing up because 1 bite went down wrong. I don’t have any food issues, I can eat just about anything. I do have to be careful with sugar, too much gives me the shakes, palpitations and leaves me feeling generally awful - this is a good thing. -
It could also be a leak, or the tubing may have come adrift - lots of possibilities. The usual way to check is probably with a barium swallow.
-
I think it depends on which way the band slips. Best thing to do is to go and get it checked ASAP
-
It could also be a slip

Help! I think food is stuck in stoma between pouch and intestines!
elcee replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Try sucking some crushed ice. It will help to reduce swelling which may help the food move. It’s what I used to do back in my banded days -
Bad Taste / How to drink Liquids

I also had an odd taste. Apparently it can be a sign of ketosis -
* HELP HOW many days in hospital???
elcee replied to New&Improved's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mikkey asking this question on a mainly US based site won’t give you true answers. Their health insurance is different and therefore no of nights in hospital would be different. In Aus most Drs will tell you between 3 and 4 nights for RNY. I ended up staying in 5 nights as I had a complication -

New Forum Idea: for the young folk
elcee replied to Glower's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Forums are useful to a certain extent but I think a lot of us just check out the what’s new posts and reply to those without having any idea which forum they are in. Heck I think I have even inadvertently replied to men’s room posts by doing this!
