Food Is Stuck After A Fill

Generally I do my best to cough the item up. I have heard that guzzling a carbonated drink quickly can work. Just do it next to the sink as apparently it might come up like a fountain. Some people swear by papaya enzymes - I have tried but they don't work for me. Try sucking crushed ice. Your throat may be swollen and irritated from trying to bring the item up and if it is the ice can help to reduce the swelling which might in turn help to move the item. BUT If you can't get Water down then you can't wait until tomorrow to see your Dr as you will end up dehydrated. You may need to go to ER so that they can get an IV into you to keep you hydrated.
  2. I eat normal food but in small quantities. e.g. Breakfast :poached egg on wholegrain toast or oats or natural muesli with greek yogurt. lunch:leftovers or tuna with crackers or something on toast or a sandwich dinner: meat/chicken or fish with veg and a small portion of potato/rice or Pasta snacks: yogurt, nuts, nut bars, diet mousse, fruit
  3. The pain immediately post surgery is from the gas, if it carries on longer than that then as the Dr says it is because of the tubing irritating the vagus nerve. There are some bandsers that had such bad issues with it that they eventually had their bands removed. Hopefully your's isn't that bad and it goes away. good luck
  4. I'm sure it was stuck. Kettle chips are hard and a piece probably got lodged in the stoma.
  5. Were they chips as in fries or chips as in crisps? I have issues with fries but chips for me are a slider. yes if you get stuck that is where it hurts, right in the centre, between the breasts.

    The Dumping Stage, Smh

There isn't a dumping stage with a band, or there isn't supposed to be. Dizziness could be from low blood pressure, low Iron, low blood sugar ............. all sorts. Maybe you are not eating enough. Next time it happens have some juice and see if that helps, if it does then it is proabbly low blood sugar which means that you might need to leave shorter gaps inbetween eating than you are currently. "The runs" could be caused by something in the Protein shakes. Lots of people have intolerances to the lactose or soy or other things in them. Try cutting them out and only using real food and see if that helps. Not sure about the sweats. That sounds like hormones (menopause, perimenopause) or maybe you have caught a bug. That could explain all your symptoms. I would call your Dr and see what he thinks.

    Anyone Else??

It sounds as though your band may be too tight. The reason you don't think that you are in the so called green zone is because the way it is described it sounds like an amazing state of utopia where small amounts of food leave you completely satisfied for hours. Maybe it is like that for a few but I think the reality is a lot different. Because we are trying to reach this wonderful utopia we end up becoming too tight and that actually means we don't get satisfied, we eat the wrong foods, we don't lose weight so we go for another fill , become tighter and the problem worsens. I think the green zone is a lot more subtle than a lot of people realise. In fact the way people on this site describe it I don't think I was ever in it! ( It's a bit like chasing the G spot)! Often you don't realise that you were in the green zone until afterwards when you have been too tight!
  8. The preop diet does make you feel really tired and flat and yes it is generally because of the lack of both carbs and also calories that you are used to. Having said that cleaning the house makes me tired, heck I get tired just thinking about it!
  9. Sorry to hear that you cancelled your surgery. I think there is a high chance that you will end up rebooking and that you will wish that you had not cancelled and wasted the additional time. You may lose without the band but most of the time we are unable to maintain that loss. Not because we are weak or bad or ......................but because of hunger which is at a level that is difficult to control. I wouldn't. That money might give you a chef and/or trainer for a couple of months but once that time is up they would be gone whereas if you had gone for a band it would still be there. Sorry that you were put off the band by the "not fat enough police", sometimes I don't think they realise how their behaviour comes across and they don't realise that what they are doing is as bad or worse than what many have done to them about being fat.
  10. You might think you woudn't read it but you probably would as if it is not posted under an atheists forum but under general lapband stuff you wouldn't know what it was until after you had read it. That is the point that I have tried to make a couple of times but for some reason people don't seem to get it.

    Restriction After Almost 4 Yrs???

If you haven't had any restriction for a while then you have probably slipped back into taking bigger bites, eating quickly etc - you probably need to relearn how to eat.
  13. Has your husband been tested as well?

    Help... Anyone?

Sorry to hear that. All the best for the surgery , I hope the erosions heal quickly and all the best for maintenance, it sounds as though you have that all worked out already.

    Unfilled My Band Today.....

That is known as a slip. Did the Dr give you a reason for it having slipped?

    Unfilled My Band Today.....

Maybe the reflux was caused by a too tight band. Although we think that the tighter the better it doesn't work like that - tight bands mean you cannot eat healthy, satisfying foods so you start eating high cal, unsatisfying sliders and gain weight. Maybe you should look at having your band refilled slowly, it may still be able to help. If not then I am sure you can revise to a bypass or a sleeve if that is really what you want to do.

    My Wife's Surgery Day Hell!!!

One word. Unbelievable! Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I don't believe the OP, I am saying that it is unbelievable that a person can be treated like this!

    Frustrated

In Australia our Dr's use the slowly slowly approach. They give frequent small fills as they feel that it is safer and also easier for a person to adapt. Sorry that you have had a bad experience so early on. Hopefully now you are filled at a level you can cope with. Don't stress about losing quickly - this process takes time. The main thing is that it is coming off and not going up.You didn't gain it overnight and the same goes for losing. Hope that everything now goes well
  20. I saw my Dr in March and could have scheduled fairly quickly. I opted instead for June as our tax year ends on June 31st so that meant there would only be a short time between having to pay the fee and being able to claim.

    Cauliflower "poppers"

I think I would try spraying them lightly instead of dipping them in so much oil to cut the calorie and fat content but other than that they sound great.

    6 Cc Fill Limit?

I think some people just pull arbitrary figures out of the air with no scientific basis for how they came up with them
